The least impressive part of my review is that the food was awesome; I will be back, but not just because of the awesome food. I needed to plan a surprise brunch for my mother’s 60th birthday. Freedom Square Diner was the only local breakfast place that was open on a Saturday and takes reservations. It was literally impossible to find a breakfast place that would take my reservation! It was no trouble getting a reservation here for a party of 10. What was so awesome about this place was how awesome the waitresses were. Our party of 10 arrived at 11 am– prime brunch time… but our guest of honor didn’t arrive until almost 11:30! It was hard for my dad to get her there on time without telling her where she was going! The waitresses happily refilled our drinks and coffee and did not make us feel rushed at all!(and there was a line of people waiting to be seated, sorry guys!) They didn’t bat an eye at the fact that we had balloons, party hats, and eventually, a crying guest of honor! The food came really quickly after we ordered(and again, it was awesome) and the waitress(I wish I would have asked her name) asked all about the party– why we were having it, was it a surprise, who was the guy my mother was hugging and crying(it was my brother who lives in Colorado). Everyone was so wonderful, they really helped to make the brunch stress-free and fun. Thank you Freedom Square Diner! I will be back!!!

My hubby and I wanted to try a new breakfast place and almost forgot about this diner because the location is a little hidden. It’s in the same plaza as shop and save and CVS. The façade definitely does not suggest a typical diner vibe and same as inside. There’s a big waiting area, mostly booth seating, no counter seating and minimal décor. Servings are huge they charge extra for peppers and onions, but they don’t tell you when taking your order. It’s nice that there’s plenty of chocolate chips on the pancake, but it was a little dry. The menu had a good variety, and maybe I should’ve ordered something more interesting. The breakfast we had was just OK, but I will probably give it another try when it’s convenient. Server was attentive.

This diner is my new go-to breakfast joint. I just wish they had longer hours. This place makes an awesome bacon, egg, and cheese croissant– it’s not on their menu, but it should be cause it’s so good.

Today will without a doubt be the last time I visit this establishment and will do everything in my power to dissuade anyone else from going. Before the review, I’ll issue a caveat that I will go to a place a few times before a «1 star» rating as I am quite aware there are bad day(s). The diner is a diner, would not and was not expecting anything that would make my taste buds tingle, only diner-esque food. Against my chagrin and after a 2 year hiatus, I was talked into this place by a family member. Service was fair and the place has a lively vibe, that is where my compliments will end. When I was presented with my meal, I was in trouble at the start… my plate was in quite disarray with food strewn about. The eggs resembled something from Fisher Price and tastes like plastic as well… moving on to the potatoes, and that’s all they are is potatoes with some seasoning salt. I had asked for well done, but looking around the table, they all looked the same. I found it interesting as well that the potatoes were never flipped, turned, or even moved. One side is warm the other is cold and resembles a boiled potato. A complete failure in preparation. The bacon was extremely salty, even for being bacon… almost as it was brined and then sprinkled with salt. Luckily there did not seem anything wrong with the fryer. I truly hope you have a better experience than I had… but never again for me.

My family and I absolutely love this place! We have four children, ages 5 and under, so we don’t go out to restaurants much. This place is great for us and the kids! Staff was very friendly and didn’t mind dealing with the kids. They included them in conversation and treated them well. Their food was delicious as well! My kids ate everything that was put on their plates! The pancakes are yummy!

My family took me here for a nice Father’s Day breakfast and of course I was not disappointed. They serve big portions for the price. Good efficient service. Thanks for another good meal.

This is for the Center Twp. Beaver County location. My mom always told me if you have nothing nice to say don’t say it. Well all I am telling you is under trained staff. The owners wife rang up wrong check and applied ut to my credit card. Did not know how to void it. The son was not any help what so ever. Left very unhappy. I won’t be back. Bad part is they have two other locations. Not a newbies to the business. Won’t be around long if that trend continues.

I stopped by here earlier today with two coworkers for lunch. We arrived at the diner right around 11:30 and there was three other groups of people in front of us. Thankfully they had tables for all of us and so we were seated after only a short wait by the door. The inside of the Freedom Square Diner is actually much nicer than the diner in the name might suggest. This certainly wasn’t your old 50’s type diner as everything was bright and clean with newer tables and booths. After looking at both the regular menu and at the lunch specials, I ended up going with the turkey and avocado sandwich with fries off of the lunch specials. This specific sandwich came on toasted rye bread with turkey, avocado, lettuce, pickle, tomato(I chose to have mine without), onion and a side of chipotle mayo. Whenever our meals came out the first thing that I noticed was the fries. They looked like they were homemade but also had a glistening appearance to them. After touching them I confirmed that they were indeed warm but soggy and so I can only imagine that they didn’t let them drip off enough after taking them out of the fryer. The taste of the fries ended up being pretty good although they lacked seasoning in my opinion. As someone who rarely uses a salt shaker, I was surprised that I reached for it a couple of times in order to make them more palatable. The sandwich itself was good and I was impressed with the amount of turkey that they had put on it as well as the perfect ripeness of the avocado. What really made the sandwich though was the chipotle mayo. It was creamy and had the perfect amount of spice to it which I think went perfectly with the turkey. Without that important component I doubt I would have enjoyed it nearly as much. The bottom line for me is that I might head back here again in the future. While I really enjoyed the chipotle mayo and thought that the rest of the food was decent, I also thought that the price was bit much for what you received with it being a diner and all.

Stopped for a meal while in the area based on the good reviews as we are always looking for a new place to add to our«go to» list. We were surprised to see the place almost empty upon arrival as the many positive reviews suggested it should be a popular place and the cranberry area is generally busy. My wife ordered the fish sandwich and I tried to order breakfast as the menu stated«breakfast served all day». We were informed that although breakfast was served all day, there would be an extra charge of $ 2 for certain items — home fries, sausage gravy for example — no eggs benedict at all and limited omelettes. So «breakfast all day» should actually say«a few breakfast items all day». Our food arrived and the fish sandwich was good in terms of size but lacked in flavor and bun was stale. My eggs and toast were served lukewarm with small eggs and toast that was limp and soggy. For the prices charged, the food was sorely lacking and far below average. Needless to say, we won’t be hurrying back anytime soon.

I used to love the Crabby BLT here but it seems they changed the recipe. Now the crab cakes are bland and kind of mushy. Unfortunately the prices do not reflect the quality of food here!

I was disappointed based on the other reviews. The attempt to emulate a diner atmosphere is a soulless Cranberry strip mall was the first major failure. Service was slow. 15 minutes for the server to come over and get our coffee order(didn’t ask or bring water. That was another 10 minutes to flag her done again). The food was average. Not bad. But not memorable. The Nutella French toast was dry and boring. The toast seemed to be sliced white bread. The egg breakfast was decent. The homefries were mushy and overly salted/spiced. For a breakfast for two people, the $ 26 tab was not worth it.

Been to this place twice. A diner in the classic sense. One some mornings, specially weekends, it is filled, and noisy. Like a popular diner should be. Family style eating and portions. Service not unlike diners in New Jersey. Food okay and ample. Lots of people like these style breakfast venues — not so much for me but still this is a solid BF venue. f8 and be there

Service was excellent. Nice atmosphere. Excellent location. The food can best be described as geriatric and will leave your taste buds craving euthanasia. The sassage is greasy and has beads of rock hard crystalized fat in it. The pancakes taste like cardboard and the potatoes are burnt and dry. If you are on a budget try Dennys instead. First watch has excellent breakfast.

It’s a traditional diner… I reccomend the Strawberry Crunch French Toast, it is probably one of my overall favorite diner breakfasts. It’s better than a Denny’s and the service is above average with a nice polite staff.

I can’t figure out why many diners are so mediocre. You think the formula would be easy, fresh food cooked simply that tastes great. Freedom Square Diner is no different, it could be great I suppose but they allow sloppy work to pass for standard fare. Case in point, have you ever received«fries» that are so greasy that they’re limp? Why would a cook/manager allow that? It reflects badly on the Diner — no one wins, neither the diner nor customer. The reason I was given for why they were limp and greasy? «Those are fresh hand cut fries. «Uhhh, OK, I guess I won’t have any more fresh hand cut fries, I’ll need to stick to frozen mass produced ones…

After another snowy night in Pittsburgh, I was leaving work hungry for a satisfying breakfast. My original road trip plan was postponed due to the winter weather so I headed to a place I’ve been meaning to try for awhile now, Freedom Square Diner. I perused the menu online ahead of time trying to decide what I might want to get. I usually go savory with my breakfast, and although that Strawberry Crunch French Toast looked amazing, I decided on the Country Fried Steak. Upon entering, I was greeted and seated immediately. I had to wait a few minutes for a drink, but the place was starting to get crowded, so I didn’t mind. When my waitress approached, I ordered my food since I already knew what I wanted(and also because a rather large party was being seated right next to me). My food came out of the kitchen rather quickly and I began to enjoy. The breading on the steak was nice and crunchy despite being covered in gravy. The home fries and eggs were your average eggs and potatoes. The biscuits, which I only started eating halfway through my steak, were still warm when I pulled them apart. Overall, I was more than satisfied with my $ 10 breakfast. The interior set up is a bit odd and the place can get pretty loud when they’re busy. I think the addition of a counter would help create a more diner-like experience. I debated 3 or 4 stars but ended up giving Freedom Square Diner 3 solid stars with the intention of returning and hopefully adding another star.

It is a diner. You get diner food. Better than Denny’s. They always get my eggs right, unlike Denny’s that seems to think one must cook a scrambled egg until it is leather-dry. The wait staff here is awesome, very down home. The salad is iceberg and romaine, which is a drag… but as I said, it is a diner. The ranch dressing is homemade and awesome.
