We used to do take-out from this little spot next to a gas station on Freedom Road years ago & then the nastiness that is Freedom Rd. stopped us. Tried them again last night for New Years Eve & the 2 star mantra of ‘Meh, I’ve had better’ explains it all. I remembered better from years past and the 4 overall stars aren’t justified! They need to toss their recipe for hot & sour soup in the trash. Just get rid of it & start over! The pork with garlic sauce & house special pork recipes need WAY more flavor. Both are just bland. Bland should never be good enough to send something out the door!

For some reason unknown to me, it is impossible to get good Chinese food in the Cranberry area. I’ve tried for over 20 years and since the demise of the quality of House of Chen food, there just isn’t any good option. You would think that with nearly one in five people in the world being Chinese at least ONE of them would want to move to Cranberry and open a restaurant. They’d make a killing. So, with my Unilocal app in hand and the solid 4 star rating of China Garden, I was willing to give it a try. Fail. It was NOT good at all. Not one thing we got was palatable in the least. Hot and sour soup looked like used motor oil. Never seen it like that before. One taste and we dumped it out. Putrid. Egg rolls? How bad could they be? Well, these were about the worst I’ve ever had. Shredded pork and garlic sauce? Pork wasn’t shredded, the sauce was flavorless and the pork was tough. House special pork? Tough, tasteless, and nothing I wanted to eat. We ended up throwing everything away. So why two stars you ask? Well, the portions are HUGE! I mean HUGE! A large order will serve 2 plus people. If you can convince them to eat it. It’s also inexpensive. So if your sole objective is to get something in your belly and you don’t care what, this may be your place. Plus, when I called they said it would be 45 minutes for pickup. I assume they were slammed with orders so I’m gonna attribute some of the poor food quality to the fact they weren’t paying attention and just trying to get caught up on orders. I’m gonna keep looking. I know I won’t be back.

Have been a customer 15 years or more. There are other Chinese restaurants in Cranberry Twp, but we always enjoy Dave’s cooking and the location is easier than the others. Have tried many of their dishes. Sweet and sour chicken is usually our standby favorite !!

Restaurant quality at a take out. Excellent food and service. I saw a couple of negative reviews, they must have gone to Red Bowl by mistake.

Horrible food. Mostly burnt or drowning in brown-gravy like sauce(even for shrimp with snow peas)!

Got a lunch special for 6.95. Pretty good the only thing is the chicken pieces are huge! But great taste.

Great food! Woman running the counter was super friendly, and you can see through to the kitchen and it was very clean. Will be back!

So happy I checked the reviews with this place. I have never had better Chinese food! I’ve had Chinese all over the world and this was my favorite. Granted I’ve never been to China but still. They don’t do the typical American Chinese either. Make sure you ask for sauces you want. Also if you want a fortune cookie you gotta ask and pay for that as well. I don’t care for fortune cookies so it’s whatever to me. My fiancé loves the food as well. She craves it all the time now. All in all I gave it 5 stars because it’s by far the best, good pricing, and the lady who works at the front is really nice. You won’t find Chinese like this in the tri-state area.

China Garden is on Freedom Road — the western part of 228 which crosses R19 and I79 — about 1.5 miles outside of Cranberry. I have been going to this place for 5 or more years. A small, unassuming, little take out place. Husband and wife owned and run(husband is chef/cook). The proportions are ample; General Tso’s Chicken excellent. What makes this place into a destination spot is that it is not a chain store, the folk know Chinese cooking well, and they provide absolutely excellent customer service. One can call an order in(without doing a financial transaction), arrive and pick it up or wait in a small, cozy space. There are maybe now 2 chairs. Reasonable prices. If you go, make sure you ask about their son, the neurosurgeon in California. They are very proud of him.

Great take out! The family who runs this is very nice. The beef with broccoli is my sons favorite. My niece loves the egg drop soup and gets it whenever she comes to Cranberry to visit. The hot and sour soup is fantastic. The General Tsos is wonderful. There is no seating, just a couple of folding type chairs by the door to wait for waiting. Fancy it is not. The prices are reasonable. For Cranberry Pennsylvania, this is as good as the Chinese food gets. .

I would recommend this place to everybody! It’s takeout only, but the family who runs it is amazing! Their fried rice is so great and every meal my family or I have gotten has been superb!

We tried this place because of the great reviews, especially the General Tso Chicken. I also love hot n sour soup, it’s how I rate all my chinese restaurants. Well all I can say is that the other reviews must have been done by family members or someone who had a vested interest in the restaurant. Well to start off, when I poured the hot n sour soup from the take home container into my bowl and ti more or less oozed out. It was as thick as 20,000 mile motor oil. Someone must have emptied a whole box of food starch in the soup. The General Tso Chicken was in a think, black, overly sweet sauce. And all that was in there was chicken. It was atrocious. Such a shame because there are so many other really good other restaurants in the area.

I guess I should have ordered the chicken egg-foo young without mushrooms or water chestnuts, I didn’t realize it came with all of that crap! Was unpleasantly surprised. The rice wasn’t good at all, and the eggrolls were cold! My huband liked his genera tso’s chicken though.
