Oh jeez, maybe I’m spoiled from real southern BBQ. But, this place is going under soon. I ordered the brisket, spare ribs, greens and mac & cheese. The brisket was pork??? I don’t know what the hell that was about. It sucked! Spare ribs were terrible, cartilage in them. Greens were really bitter, this is the best thing I had. Mac & cheese sucked. *****ZEROSTARS***** Everything was heated in a microwave, just terrible. I will never be back and I encourage anyone who reads this save your money.

Maybe I’m spoiled from being used to actual Texas BBQ. But the fact that they don’t even smoke their own meat here is pretty lame. Not to mention the fact that leads to heating issues. They solve these issues with a microwave. Nothing is worse than ordering BBQ and then hearing that distinctive«hmmmmm» and«ding» before your food comes out. I love a good mom & pop restaurant but this is one I won’t be coming back to.

I went in and got the small brisket sandwich to go. The service was quick — which was nice since i was in a hurry. The sandwich didn’t have any taste — the meat was dried out and didn’t have any flavor. The BBQ sauce didn’t help… Small sample size — but based on my 1 sandwich — i won’t be heading back.

Crock pot BBQ. They prepared my sides in a microwave from cold food sitting out. They don’t smoke any food here, so it’s not even BBQ. It’s just braised meat. Skip it if you love BBQ. No texture in the pulled pork that would be developed in a real smoker or even a decent dutch oven. Just limp, crock pot style BBQ. You can make this at home yourself. Just get a pork shoulder and put it in a crock pot on low for 8 hours. Slather it in your favorite high fructose corn syrup until you can’t taste any meat. If you are feeling frisky put some boxed macaroni and cheese on the side.

Pretty weak overall. Brisket had decent smokey flavor but was 1⁄3 fat and chewy. Ribs had little smokey flavor, lots of meat, but tasted and felt like they were cooked days before and nuked before serving. Mouthfeel was like congealed mcrib. Plus I hate BBQ joints that decide to cut my ribs into individual bones without my asking. Sauces were ok. Pulled pork is what keeps this from 1 star. Very tasty but given ribs and brisket I question how long it was in fridge. Decent BBQ beans and Mac and cheese. I usually do better on my own smoker. Probably won’t be back

A good, solid BBQ place. As other posters have noted, there is no «smell» of BBQ in this restaurant. However, if you look outside the place when entering, you will notice a smoker and other like BBQ equipment on the side of the building under a car-port structure. It does sound, and appear that they may reheat some of the food in a microwave after it has been BBQ’d, but I have not noticed this having a detrimental effect on the flavor. Is it as good as a BBQ joint that has BBQ cooking to the table: no. But then again, the demand for that sort of food in this area is low. I’m sure if there was enough demand they would serve the food that way. The food, however, is still solid and gives you a good BBQ experience. The pulled pork is the best and not too fatty, while the ribs are a bit on the fatty side but more flavorful. And the sides are great, the baked beans and potato salad are fantastic. In terms of catering, this is where they shine. The food appears to go from the BBQ into a warmer until you pick it up. We used them for a party and the food was a hit. Lots of people made comments such as, «where is this from,» «I didn’t know we had a good BBQ place around here.» The catered food was also better tasting than the restaurant, perhaps due to BBQ-Warmer-Eating as opposed to an intervening microwave.
Conclusion: solid, not spectacular BBQ when eating there, nearly spectacular BBQ when getting catering. Also, I have had no service issues as others have. But perhaps I’ve been lucky or they have gotten better.

Terrible BBQ if you know anything about BBQ! The rub is a simple salt and pepper, the meat is not smoked! No smoke ring exists within the meat. It is reheated via microwave when you order so it is watered down when you have it served on a bun. Save your money and smoke your own meat with an actual rub.

Fast food BBQ… Went there once recently and that was one time too many. Ordered the pork sandwich. My first concern was hearing the microwave in the back room. Second concern was no real smell of smoke, this is BBQ isn’t it? Sauce was OK but nothing great. Sides were not memorable as in I don’t remember what I got. Didn’t make an impression. They had real bbq prices with convenience store quality food. Won’t be going back.

It was good good but not a lot a structure to the place. I kind of felt like the guy working didn’t know what was going on which was weird. It’s pretty obvious they don’t get a lot of sit down customers. Mostly catering and walk ins. I also heard a microwave running which leads me to believe they were just nuking things in the back. Not my favorite idea but it was still good.

We’ll this is my 2nd time here. Tired it once before and wasn’t happy. When u arrived the guy working seemed lost. I ordered the small platter with spare ribs. As waiting I could hear the microwave going. I thought food to be just ok. I hate when people use a microwave to reheat ribs it tastes horrible. The cornbread just fell apart no moisture to it at all. Mac and cheese was the only thing that was ok. Won’t be back!

«Home of the Boss Hog Sandwich». This is the other«Flame», according to website it is the same owner as «The Flame» in Millvale. Nice little store and friendly service. Was surprised by the full range of barbecued meats and options. Menu includes Ribs, both Baby Back and Spare Ribs, chicken, shredded beef, brisket, hot sausage, lamb, pulled pork and chicken. Also some specials: Stack-a-Mac are meets with mac & cheese and BBQ sauce, Burrito include meet, cheese, onion on a soft tortilla and Great Rice Dishes. Lots of sides including Collard greens, slaw, Black-eyed Peas, Mac Salad, Baked Beans. There are about 5 small tables with a homemade red BBQ sauce that is a little tangy and seems to have a little vinegar in it, and some brand name hot pepper vinegar and hot pepper sauce. The meat is flame cooked but does not have the overwhelming smoke flavor. Had the creamy macaroni and cheese side which was better than most places, very enjoyable. The ribs where good with the Flame BBQ sauce. I would think the burritos, sandwiches and Stack-a-Mac would garner a large lunch following.
