Have started stopping by here again recently, and the quality of the bread, the selection and the prices are all great. Place is clean, and i’ve been picking up some small rolls, etc to snack on during the day, or for my cheat dessert(think walnut cranberry roll). Place is clean and everything is fresh!

Wow! What an assortment of great baked goods! Their breads are amazingly fresh and although have a short shelf life — their lack of preservatives creates a delicious treat! We have enjoyed all of their breads, rolls, and pastries and try to remember to stop in on weekends!

I have gotten bread here on numerous occasions and have always been happy with it. The store smells so amazing, it’s worth the visit for that reason alone! We have tried their dinner loaves, dessert breads, and have used their bread the last couple of years for my Thanksgiving stuffing. The prices are decent, slightly more expensive than a large store, but not unreasonable. I agree with other Unilocalers that the do run out of things very quickly. I know during the holidays it’s hard to hold onto the hot ticket items, but they run out of things so early, I have to believe they don’t make nearly enough inventory. The customer service is not that great. I’ve never received a warm greeting or been offered help without me asking. The girls behind the counter often hold a full conversation with each other even while you’re paying. If the bread wasn’t so good and conveniently located to my apartment, I wouldn’t return based on the customer service.

My hubby goes to bread smith almost every Saturday morning. Our family favorite is the olive rolls! Yum! Also the sour dough loaf is great! Their cake breads can be a little to sugary for me, but it depends on the one you get. I have never found the service to be a problem as other reviews mentioned. If anything, i have found them to be sweet local kids who do their best to be professional and helpful.

The bread was great, love the pumpkin with chocolate chips. Customer service was horrible. The woman behind the register was rude and made me(and my mom) think we would never come back. Luckily the person I think is the owner, a little older, came and saved the day. I couldn’t believe how rude the other woman was, and for no reason! I had a welcome to the neighborhood coupon and she was trying to refuse it because she didn’t know how to discount 10 $. It was valid and within the 90 day time period. I thought– boy this is how you welcome a new resident? If the older woman wasn’t there to ring us up and fix it, we probably would never come back on account of service. I will add a star when they fix or retrain their staffing to be courteous! Food is 5 stars. Service is 1

Everything they offer is fresh and delicious. It’s the customer service that kills me. Everyone looks pained when you come in the store, as if it’s a huge burden on them to have to help you. I stopped by to get the chocolate dessert bread and asked the lady working 3TIMES If it was safe for someone who has extreme peanut allergies. She said«yes» and rushed me to the register. My co-worker with the allergies decided to call the store once again just to be sure before she had a slice, and the person she talked to explained that everything is cross-contaminated with the nuts they use in other pastries. In other words, not safe for my co-worker to eat. Their terrible service could have sent someone to the hospital.

I live in SC and my son is a firefighter in Cranford. He had to work Thanksgiving so I thought I would try to have some bread delivered to the firehouse. Spoke to Kathy and she was more then helpful with my request ! They sent what I ordered and quite a few EXTRA loaves of bread. The firefighters all appreciated the gift and were so grateful for the support given to them by Breadsmith. My son told me their bread is awesome. Wish we had a Breadsmith near us !!

Go for the focaccia, go across the street for coffee. Breadsmith has a tempting selection of both sweet and savory breads, and a few of their offerings have become our personal go-to comfort foods.

Bread seems fresh. Had pepperoni and little cheese stuffed into a roll and it was ok. It needs sauce. Friendly service. Prices are a bit high.

Awesome breads! Im a fan of the apple pie bread and the challah makes the best french toast Ive ever had! Prices can be a bit high compared to grocery store freezer-to-oven loaves, but it’s well worth it! #supportlocal

Amazing breads! Stop by on a Friday for a stuffed brioche roll! I like the spinach & feta, they also have bacon cheddar and pepperoni cheese. They’re about the same as a panera bread price wise, but with better quality products. They also offer a variety of mini rolls at about $.40 each. The variety and presentation makes a great addition to any dinner table, especially if you’re having company over. The olive ciabatta is my favorite, but there is def something for everyone’s taste available.

This«bakery» really needs to figure out what their hours are and stick to them instead of arbitrarily opening and closing whenever they feel like it… and frankly, their breads are not that great and always a bit too firm, especially for what they charge for them.

My go to bakery for fresh bread or pastries. I’ve been buying bread from here since they opened and never had a bad experience regarding service or stale products. I must admit, I usually go in for just one thing but come out with a whole bag full of goodies! If you’re new to the area or just looking to try out something new, stop in. You’ll be glad you did! And don’t forget to ask for their reward card… buy 12 loaves, get 1 free!

The bread is delicious. We love the rosemary garlic ciabatta, that amazing parmesan roll at the counter, and my dog loves the bread bones. One thing I’d like to see more of is promoting their bread offers on social media. They tweet occasionally, but could do way more to let us know what just got baked. Every time I happen to catch a tweet from them when I’m just waking up on the weekends, I want to go there. More of this, please!

My first visit here was a couple of yrs ago & hadnt been back until the last few weeks so now with a few visits I can give a pretty informative review. The employees are always professional & polite(the older Asian one’s accent is a bit strong so it may take a few repeats to understand fully). Most times you can park right in front. There is also a parking strip if you’re coming from the west(Westifield/Garwood). It’s illegal to turn into it coming from the other way(since it’s angled spaces). Please look at their website to see what they offer because this is definitely not typical bakery fare(i.e. no cakes or pies). The bread prices range from $ 5 — $ 9 so a bit high but in at least the fruit pie breads definitely worth it(as you can easily get 4 – 6 servings per loaf) Also, they have done groupon & amazon deals so it makes the cost very reasonable. In no particular order I will give a review of every item I’ve tried so my rating will be the average as I dont place particular importance on any one item more than another. Blueberry scone – light tasting, fairly fresh 2.5 Traditional & deli rye – almost tasteless, too thick/dense(they should adjust/replace their bread slicer) 1.0 brownies — very dry & not sure if very fresh because by the 2nd day it breaks up in your hand(microwaving restores it somewhat), ok taste 2.0 peach or applie pie bread – easily the best item — moist, just enough fruit, tasty crumbs(can freeze up to 3 mos) 5.0 blueberry muffin – pretty good, moist 3.5 apple cinnamon pecan bread — barely tasted apple or cinnamon – pecan ok 2.5 cinnamon claws – ok freshness but very little taste 1.5 Raisin cinnamon bread – pretty good overall 3.5 21.5 divided by 8 = 2.7 so will round up to 3 I plan to try a few more things so if it changes my overall rating I will update this review

nice store, cool layour, nice displays. The selection is pretty unique, you don’t get much of these choices at the supermarket or most other bakeries. I wasn’t hungry and was on my way to a wedding, but I bought a greek olive roll; light a moist, with big awesome olives inside, really great. I will be back here to try more things

Who doesn’t love bread? Well maybe carb-phobics. But I imagine their lives are filled with little pleasure anyway. Breadsmith offers a variety of different breads, not to mention the additional baked goods they carry. My husband is a big fan of their Cinnamon Claw while I’m happy with just one of their regular baguettes. It’s one of the few places where the baguette is actually crusty and not mushy. I hate mushy baguettes. French people would look at that and cry. Yes the prices are a bit more expensive here than at your normal grocery store(I think the price of their baguette is a dollar or two more than what you’d pay at Wegmans). But like many things in life, if you want quality you have to pay for it. I know whenever we have people over Breadsmith’s bread is specifically requested so that should tell you all you need to know.
