While the store itself is lovely with a great selection of clothes, I am pretty surprised at how consistently unfriendly many of the retail associates here are. Besides the one girl yesterday who was extremely nice and went out of her way to help me, several of the associates make me feel very unwelcome in their store. I’m not one to take offense easily, and I truly don’t feel this way at any other store I go into, and I never feel this way at other Ann Taylor locations. I’m also not one to complain. Looking at my Unilocal reviews will tell you I give 5 stars out more than anything. That’s why if I was only made to feel unwelcome once or twice I’d chalk it up to an associate having a bad day or a mere coincidence. It’s happened several times now(almost every time I go in), however, making those things much less likely. Yesterday one of the associates acted(in my opinion) particularly egregiously. As I walked to the cash register to check out, one of the associates asked another lady behind me if she was all set. Despite my clothing items already being on the counter, the lady placed her items in front of mine and the associate and her both acted as if I didn’t exist. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated like that before. Thankfully the friendly associate, who had been very helpful the whole time, came and rang up my items. If she hadn’t I would have felt very awkward with the other associate. Not everyone who works at the store behaves this way, and the friendly associate working yesterday really made the experience a lot better. There are also associates who will help out if asked. I just think that there are some associates who should learn a little more about good customer service.
