Journey. Lots and lots of Journey. Everything else was a blur. And not because I was slugging them back. This is a local’s bar with low ceilings and pool tables. Expect stare-downs as you cozy a spot up at the bar, lined with black, pleather, high-backed office chairs, with a complete lack of irony. Great place to relive the glory days. And I mean that sincerely, without a shred of pompousness. Hold on to that feeelayayang, streetlights people ohh oh ohhhhh. That was meant with full pompousity.

Who knew? Great friendly bar with great drink deals. The staff is hospitable and I found myself hanging around for a couple of hours. 2 dollar drafts and office chairs at the bar. The patrons let me play the music I like without skipping songs. Stop in and have a beer, look for Rose the bartender, she’s wonderful. Thanks

This place used to be cool. Now the bartenders are inexperienced, the food is awful and the service is the worst. Oh billy, where are you??? Please come back and restore this dump.

Big ups to the staff, but a thumbs down to almost everything else. It’s like the opposite of Cheers, or, «Where everybody knows each other’s name, and don’t really want to know yours» Since I’m sort of near it, and like a no frills cheap frosty beverage on occasion, I have been here twice in the last year. Both times I felt uncomfortable almost exclusively from the regulars. The demographic is loud, angry, middle aged sports fanatic. Those loungey chairs at the bar have got to go. folks act waaaay too at home in them. I thought 9 tvs blaring different games was a little excessive in a space that might be 2000 square feet. Overall, service and prices were great, space could use a little cleaning/updating, maybe a bouncer, and definitely a butt can outside.

New management. Menu changed. Its a bit cheaper but much more limited and pretty much way less in quality. They don’t have good food specials anymore. The nice and friendly bartenders left too. They seem to be catering to a cheaper more rowdy crowd. I’ve been a couple times since they’ve changed over and probably won’t go back anymore.

I found myself here recently when the Patriots were on the NFL Network, because I don’t have the NFL Network anymore at home. Somehow I just never made it here before even though I live close by. Maybe it was the police cruiser I often saw outside that dissuaded me? I could never tell if they always just happened to stop a car in front of the Frosted Mug or if they were there because of goings on inside! This place is kind of weird. It’s fairly large for a divey bar. The bar is lower than normal bar height, and instead of stools there are high backed computer(recliner) chairs. The floor is built up so that the bartender is lower than you. There are a few pool tables, a row of regular tables and chairs and a row of booths. There are several tvs on every wall. Décor is unmemorable and may have included 1970s paneling or something else dated. There are large windows onto Reservoir Ave but they’re deeply tinted. They had $ 2 meatball sandwiches and cheap wings, but I was a little leery of trying the food. I stuck to beer. The selection was about what you would expect, and the prices were cheap. Service was friendly enough. That’s my takeaway — a really cheap place to watch a game, which I definitely appreciated — but I can’t imagine wanting to go there regularly, really. It’s on the«little bit tacky, little bit dive-y» side, but not so much that you feel remotely unsafe — or remotely hip. It’s like your parents musty basement bar.

4 rated for what it is — the neighborhood watering hole. Drinks are cheap, food is decent, service is pleasant, and bar games are available.

Gross, if you feel like fighting go, there are enough punks that hang there to go after. Seedy crowd not like the recent past, the chairs are disgusting and need to be replaced, the food is vomit. There are plent of places very close to wet your whistle and not catch chlamydia.

A great bar with great service, food, and drinks. Plenty of tvs for sports fans, pool tables, a juke box, and a very diverse crowd. The Mug is a very comfortable place to pregame, or spend the whole evening. SOme of the most comfortable bar chairs you will ever sit in.

um… ew. so I read the reviews, and figured it was worth a try. wrong. we got nachos as an app. GROSS. cheeze wiz all up in the chips. too much to even eat/enjoy. hubby got the chicken sandwich that was supposed to come with provolone and marinara. he got a plain chicken sandwich, no cheese or sauce, with bacon. I got a grilled cheese because there was nothing else with the dinner special that I would be able to eat(being a vegetarian). hubby got the 2.25 canned drink special. I got malibu and cranberry… very light on the malibu. very very light. when we sat down, there was no waitress or acknowledgement, until we hit up the bartender for attention. we actually had to ask for a cloth to clean our own table, as there was food and yuck from the previous person. I am all for a dive bar. but it needs to be fun, with personable bar tenders, fun patrons, etc. this is a no fun dive. one and done. I have no need to go back. again, ew.

Once known as «Billys» Frosted Mug, what is now known as just«the Frosted Mug» remains one of Cranstons most notorious pubs. I noticed they have received very little love here on Unilocal,so I thought they deserved a more current review. They have gone through tremendous renovations since the last review was written. It’s a really great place to grab a drink with co-workers after a stressful work day. What they are probably most well known for is their elevated bar with rolling computer chairs. This is definitely something you probably won’t see elsewhere else in RI, or maybe any state. The bartenders here are all great and really don’t hold back on much. They will swear at you and b.s. with you until the cows come home. Food-wise, the menu is standard American pub-fare at very inexpensive prices, which means: more $ for drinks. The french fries here are incredible. It’s something about the seasoning combined with the slurping of ice cold Narragansett that just does it every time. The grilled cheese is usually my standby, but if you want something fancy they have all kinds of burgers(and veggie burgers if you ask). On a standard night at the Frosted Mug you will here everything from Iron Maiden to Wu-tang blasting out of the jukebox. There is often a very entertaining mix of old-timers and a younger Cranston crowd competing for airtime. I love this place for so many reasons, but mainly these: 1) there are no pretentious attitudes here. You can show up in your mechanics uniform, your smelly gym clothes, or a suit and tie– no one cares. 2) It’s really close to my house, so I can walk home if I indulge in too many«frosty mugs» 3) It’s a great place to drink in the middle of the day… not that you or I would ever do that.

There is really nothing special about this place — but at the same time I can’t find many things wrong with it either. its a smaller place, with a handful of seats at the bar, and a few tables. Beers are cheap — under $ 3 for domestic drafts. The food is spotty — there is a small bar menu, most of which they won’t have on any given night. The crowd is small and local, and usually entertaining. One thing I do take issue with is the music situation. There is a jukebox — and it is something like $ 1 or $ 1.50 per song. Uncalled for!

It’s a neighborhood bar with bar food and cheap beer. A couple pool tables, a dartboard, big screen TVs and a jukebox. The locals that come here are a mix of blue collar types and young kids. Definitely a fun lively atmosphere where everyone is welcome and you won’t feel uncomfortable sitting in the booth with a pack of friends drinking a pitcher of Coors. Unless you have a problem with ripped seat cushions, you elitist.
