Absolutely love this place. I always get the meatball grinder with provolone and it is always spot on and made the same. The quality for the price is incredible. Make sure to call ahead and don’t expect there to be bread or food left close to closing time!

I totally agree with most posters that Dee’s has the best Italian Grinder in the area. A small sub is just fine unless you have an enormous appetite or plan on bringing half of it home. All the meats and cheeses are good quality and are sliced fresh daily, if not to order. The bread is awesome as well. I’ve tried some of the other sandwiches like the meatball and steak and cheese, and while they are very good, they can’t compare to the Italian sub. A few reasons why I’m only giving them four stars: 1. The hours are inconsistent. It says open until 2:30, but they often run out of bread before then. Many times I’ve shown up at 1:45 to see them closed. It’s kind of disappointing to be looking forward to a nice sandwich and getting stuck with Subway or McDonald’s. 2. The help while not rude or surly could smile once in a while:-) 3. Parking can be tight at times, but it can be found on Cranston Street or the side street if the lot is full. Overall highly recommended!

I’m basically an Italian grinder expert and Dee’s has the best in RI. Look no further, this place rules!

Small quiet little Italian sandwich shop with amazing subs. Not from the area but out on work lunch. Got a large Italian grinder with everything. Service was nice couldn’t finish the sandwich there. Wrapped it up to go. Top 2 all time Italian sandwich I have ever had from Philly to Maine. The large is the size of 2 large sandwiches from any chain shop. Definitely recommend going.

This place is pretty good, but WOW, it’s busy! Hours are not the best, literally just lunchtime. There are limited tables, but it seems to be that most of their business is takeout anyway. I had their Italian Grinder, which was very reasonably priced and customizable to my tastes. There’s a great variety of chips, salads, and drinks. Soup choices looked good, on a rotating basis. The strip pizza was quite tasty — mild sauce on pillowy bread. The ladies behind the counter were super nice, which actually surprised me. With how busy it was, and frankly, my past experiences with places like these, I was expecting some version of the soup nazi, but did not! I’d recomend this place to anyone lookng for a good, inexpensive lunch!

I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of all their ingredients. My fiancé and I stopped in on our way out of Cranston. The aroma was deliciously strong from the parking lot. I was immediately excited. We were greeted briskly but warmly by a woman in the sandwich prep area. We ordered a small roast beef and provolone grinder with a side of Mac salad. the bread was crunchy but not chewy or stale. I can’t have hard bread, my jaw gets tired and sore. The vegetables, meat and cheese were all fresh and delicious. We also loved their macaroni salad and will be back on a regular basis! Oh and the girl on the register was sweet and personable. Lots of good stuff going on at Dee’s diner!

I have been eating Dee’s grinders for 30 years. They are the absolute best in RI. Even though I am now a vegetarian, I still love them. Just order a cheese grinder, and you get everything except the meat. Just make sure to get there early before they sell out of rolls!

Dee’s subs/grinders are embarassingly superior to other subs/grinders. For the price and quality, you just can’t do any better. If you are staying away from bread, their tuna and chicken salad plates are also cheap and delicious. I eat here all the time and have never had a bad experience– only good! The steak & cheese is my favorite because it’s so flavorful and non-greasy!

HANDSDOWNBESTDELI! They use grinder style subs. It’s a small deli place. Weird hours. Great portion. Great prices. Great service. Great quality. Only problem is they if you don’t order your sandwiches early they run out of bread fast!

Probably the best Italian grinder in the state. Make sure you call early because they bake their bread fresh daily and once they run out they stop answering the phones. Prices are great, service is great. Do not pass this place up!

The quintessentially perfect sandwich shop. Unless your a competitive eater you can’t finish a large sandwich. Get there early because when the bread is gone(it’s so damn good) you are out of luck. I drive across town just to go here. Tiny spot with classic 80’s television running in the background brings me back to my youth. Oh the sandwiches… Best sandwiches in Rhode Island case closed. So get off your diet and put on 5lbs a week and head on down.

I’m a Dee’s deli at noon, I heard about this place from a friend he always came to work with the beast meatball sub. Finally got the chance to go myself had the large Italian was awesome. They are open from 10 am till 2 pm or when they sell out of bread. Thursday and Friday they have the steak, cheese and mushroom. Friendly service and always busy at lunch.

My friend took me here a couple times and i must say it is one of the best sandwiches([Top5]) in rhode island… you can feeel the familyness walking into this establishment.. when i come here i get the Italian sandwich… everything and when i mean everything on and in this sandwich is fresh… ohhhmygaahhh it is fresh … one thing about this place that saddens me but makes me respect them more is that they close very early … this place is strictly lunch…

What an Italian grinder should be! Now it takes something special to make a sub worth going out of the way for. Many are ok but forgettable. The bread and fillings have to be very fresh and have good balance. This small sub had to be 9 inches and was only $ 5.25. really. In a world where sandwich prices are climbing to $ 8 – 10, this is awesome. Small place with parking, friendly enough staff. I would definitely go back

Huge 16 or 20 inch sub, homemade. Great food from what I tried. I also went into acoma after eating have the sandwich and woke up and my first thoughts were to demolish the other half. I would come again and with such short hours of operation, you gotta make sure you get there early. Big lines during lunch hours, out the door

OK, so I ate one of Dee’s delicious Italian subs almost two months ago, and have been craving one ever since. I literally cannot wait to come back here! The reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5, is because the service kind of sucks. The woman answering the phone and at the counter is verrrry moody. When placing my order I felt that if she could have reached through the phone and strangled me she would have… reason: for placing an order haha! Seriously! I ordered a small Italian sub with everything including oil, salt and pepper. The vegetable were so fresh that with each bite came a nice loud CRUNCH! Heaven… If you are the type that likes a large amount of meat, I would suggest ordering your sandwich with double the meat. Everything was of great quality, and the bread was soft, and held up to all of the ingredients nicely, however, by the time I reached the bottom of my sub(I unwrapped and ate from the top down) the bread was soggy. Simple solution: next time I will eat faster :) Parking lot is small, and there is a steady flow of cars coming in and out, there is also on street parking with plenty of spots available(don’t be afraid if you can’t parallel park, you will do just fine). The inside is small, so don’t just assume there will be a spot for you to eat, you may have to eat in your car or wait until you get home/back to the office. Lastly, I’m not sure that they have real hours. I think once they sell out of bread, they are done for the day.

Solid little sandwich shop, with an A+ for local character. Fresh baked local bread, spot on flavors; salami, capicola, tomatoes, deli peppers, lettuce and dressing, or the sausage and peppers with or without the house made red sauce, can’t go wrong. Cash only and limited seating.
