Haunted Labyrinth

AWESOME !!! Haunted Labyrinth is not about expensive cheesy props.
It’s more about the element of surprise, trying to find your way out of each room with a bunch of hidden contraptions.
Last year I gave it 4 Stars, because the groups weren’t spaced out enough, we caught up to the group ahead of us and the group behind us caught up to us. They seemed to have listened to the feedback and this time around was perfect. (Grant it, it wasn’t as busy as usual, so was this the reason? Not sure, but regardless, this haunted house is done brilliantly) What makes this one better than others, is that every year is a different theme and a totally different experience. We took advantage of their opening weekend special, the first 50 people in line, got to through a second time for free, and I must say, it was just as fun the second time .
I travel from CT, roughly a 45 min drive ‚
and it is definitely worth the trip.
Just may have to take another trip down before the season is done .

First went in 2011 when they were using a nightmare theme. Really it was a random haunt but the way they built the place up was freakin amazing. Most rooms you’d have no idea how to get out of and suddenly you notice an entire cabinet opens up. It was Insane. 2012 they tried a Zombie Apocalypse theme which wasn’t as creative to me but Again the set they built was Crazy! The main room was a city street all torn apart and you’d walk through all the different stores escaping zombies and psycho survivors. 2013 was not their best. Playing in a fairy tale theme the effort I saw in the last 2 years just wasn’t there. Again I can still say the set design was a good effort but every other element killed it.
Now for $ 10 and for a good organization you can’t really go wrong especially with the effort they put into it. Yes, almost all the actors are kids with masks waiting for you to walk by so they can flinch and go «grr» but it is a youth organization and I really don’t know what anyone honestly expects from them. The design is always different and impressive on some level and they Always have something you won’t find in any other haunt in New England.
I could personally do without the freaking Pop music Dj outside every year but that’s just me.

First time I’ve ever been, went on Halloween. The people were so nice and funny while we waited to go inside. Once you go in you have to figure out how to navigate through each room. It’s so fun and scary and I loved it! Wish it was a little longer but they’ve been doing this for almost 30 years and they have perfected it. I would go back next year.

As it says Meh. I’ve experienced better. They put a different twist on it every year, but it is always just about the same stuff. If I go, it’s to support the church organization that puts it on. That’s about it. It was fun in high school, but that was about it.

Self-​inflicted terror and heart palpitations… that just make you feel good.
The Haunted Labyrinth is not just an excellent haunted house experience, it’s designed, fabricated and staffed by church youth group kids. Every time I go I leave simultaneously horrified and inspired by the imaginary worlds they create. Really, it is incredibly well done and organized.
Each year features a new theme (Nightmares in 2011) that comes together in a series of unique rooms where the exits often require trial-​and-​error pushing and poking — some are cool illusions, others scary vignettes playing out as you pass — all have kids sneaking up on you and freaking you out. AHH! But they do not touch you.
It’s fun enough for adult friends/​couples to enjoy together while tame enough to bring older kids. The outdoor line purposely snakes around scary dudes in masks as a test for what lies in the Labyrinth. Though my 11-​year-​old haunted house companion screamed her face off and disabled my arm’s blood circulation the entire walk through, she and I both had the peace of mind of knowing that there was a clearly marked emergency exit a.k.a. escape hatch every few rooms.
So much fun, and c’mon… it’s for the kids!

There are no shortage of Halloween attractions in Southern New England (more than I’ve ever seen anywhere else), but Haunted Labyrinth typically gives the best bang-​for-​the-​buck.
This year tickets are $ 10 per adult, a veritable bargain compared to other attractions. The Haunted Labyrinth is your typical «Haunted House» made up of a series of themed rooms and mazes you walk through while kids in costumes jump out at you and say «boo». While nothing will ever compare in my mind to the actual show you got to enjoy at the old Haunted Monastery, the Haunted Labyrinth seems the most creative when it comes to designing their rooms — many of them include some sort of puzzle element where you have to figure out how to exit and go to the next room.
One other nice feature of the Haunted Labyrinth is that you get to go through in small groups of just your friends. If you just come with your spouse or SO, you can go through together without being stuck with a bunch of obnoxious teenaged boys trying to show off how not-​scared they are.
