I liked mexican omelette more than beef corned hash but both were great regardless. Portuguese toast is just spectacular. CASH only

This place is tiny, but great. The food was super tasty and lots of cleaver menu items. I love breakfast food and they do it right. Minor note to the staff, check on drink refills a bit more. I love my coffee and drink a lot :)

awesome little diner with really good food at a fair price! only complaint being how long the wait was without a place to wait inside the establishment, but the wait was worth it!

Cozy, clean, breakfast diner, with many innovative options, as well as the usual breakfast choices. The food was delicious, and they served us with a warm welcome. Try the eggs carbonara, and the belgian waffles.

It’s a real shame when food that’s actually pretty good, at reasonable prices, is wrecked by horrendous service. About an hour passed between being seated and getting food, during that time we got one coffee refill that we nearly had to launch a flare to get. I was sincerely worried at first that we had died on our way and were caught in a 6th sense type situation.

A couple of weekends ago, we wavered between hitting up JP Spoonem’s(which is a bit of a drive from our place) and another closer spot that got pretty good reviews. We opted for the closer spot and it was a mistake. Last week we went to JP Spoonem’s instead and, oh yes, heaven. We are usually early risers so we almost always get to a breakfast place before 8, but circumstances changed last weekend and we ended up going for breakfast at 10:30. We had our two kids in tow, and we knew that it might be a bit of a challenge to get a table for 4 at that time, but we were willing to wait it out. And we did have to wait, but only about 15 minutes or so, and we were the only ones waiting. Four bar seats opened up first, so we snagged those and put it our orders: stuffed strawberry French toast for the kiddos to split, and two plates for the mister and I to split. We opted for the cranberry apple walnut waffle and the Arizona benny. And when that food arrived, it was really, really delicious. The waffle, while totally fall-like, was fantastic. Caramelized apples, cranberries, big chunks of walnut… I couldn’t get enough of it. And the Arizona benny, which featured a black bean and corn hash alongside some avocado, was delicious as well. Everything was awesome. It wasn’t cheap, to be sure, but it was awesome. Way better than the local place we tried and totally worth the drive. We will be back, but much earlier in the morning.

I wish I could give this place another half star — the only reason I can’t give it a full 5 is because the place is too small for how good it is. It needs a patio outside or another room. Also super dated inside. Dips in the floor etc. Anyways — the food was amazing. The Italian toast seemed like it must have been from a RI bakery. The home fries were so good. Just crunchy enough and soft too. The Johnny cakes had great flavor. Best I’ve had so far. They were a little chewy but still had a nice crunch on them. Vegetarian options! So happy to see meals that were complete and delicious without meat! A lot of breakfast joints rely on bacon for flavor. But not here. They have homemade salsa and aren’t afraid to use herbs! I was impressed. Coffee was good! Just one kind(no flavors) but very satisfying and robust. Frank’s red hot on every table too … Can’t complain!

If I could give more stars, I would. This place is the best breakfast restaurant in the state. Every single dish is fantastic. I especially love the DELICIOUS homemade corned beef hash with eggs. The hash has big chunks of corned beef and is the exact right proportion of potatoes and meat. It is hands down the best hash I have ever had. My son always orders waffles and they are incredible. Light, airy, and slightly crunchy with a delicious taste of vanilla. They are covered with berries and whipped cream and are just delicious. I love that you can get real grits, too. And be sure to try some of the eggs benedict specials. They are always tasty and interesting. The service here is prompt and friendly. I love all the staff like family. I truly can’t think of a better place to have breakfast. In our book, it is the standard by which all breakfast is judged.

Most adorable little breakfast place ever … feels like I’m sitting in my own kitchen. and the wait staff is super welcoming and friendly, makes you feel right at home. As for my meal I got a coffee milk and the chocolate lovers waffles. they were everything I dreamed they’d be. Will definitely be coming back :)

Awesome food! I got the coconut-pineapple French toast– ½ order and ½ order of pesto eggs benedict. The eggs benedict had tomato, shaved cheese, a meat, poached egg and the pesto sauce was great– was a wonderful combination. The French toast had pieces of banana and kiwi and whipped cream on top– the best French toast ever! The home fries were the best too! The coffee was bitter and strong. The place is pricey– 42 Dollars for 3 people to eat. I would highly recommend this place. The place is for breakfast or lunch. If you are looking for a homemade-delicious– exotic taste — this is the place for you.

ok. I read all the hype about this place, and finally tried. First the good news… The homefries are very tasty. eggs tasted like eggs, and were ok. The rye toast was good. Now the bad news… The coffee was average quality, and you had to ask for a refill a few times, and wait. A side of bacon was almost $ 4.00, and you get(3) pieces. They say their corned beef hash is BEST is Rhode-Island, but I say not. Sure you can see the«real» corned beef. However, the consistency was like eating mashed potatoes. It should have been more chunky style. Overall, the place is so small, and expensive, so I did not see the value for the money. My wife did like it, so she can go back herself.

I thought this place was great. It has an old school atmosphere that — while not necessary in a diner — always makes the experience a little more fun. The food is more interesting(but also slightly more expensive) than other similar restaurants in the area. Cash only. Limited seating.

Visit here was decent. The prices are low, food is solid. My problem was the«home fries» which were huge chunks of potato that were not seasoned and maybe saw a stove for a whopping 10 seconds. Wait staff was nice until I mentioned my issue with the home fries, they seemed offended that I didn’t like them. No refund given for them, just didn’t eat them. Might come back, not sure.

Great spot with a lot of menu options. If you’re an eggs Benedict fan they have several varieties. Service was good too. Just a small place so a wait may be inevitable during peak times.

JP Spoonem’s is one of those somewhat kitschy old fashioned diners that… …gets written up in visitor’s guides as a classic Rhode Islandy place to brunch and either has or may one day may be featured on some Food Network or Travel Channel type of special on Americana, diners or linguistics for the Cranstonian-Rhode-Islandese accents the servers have here …has the vinyl seats that one may or may not want to sit down on when wearing summer shorts b/c of that squidgy squeaky feeling when skin sticks to the seat …serves solid American diner food at slightly higher prices than comparable diners …claims to have«famous» corned beef and has crappy diner coffee that tastes good to people that like grandma’s food or bad coffee …gives old-fashioned courteous service …gets described as a gem. Cuz it is.

Wow! I am so impressed. The food here is absolutely stellar. I had an egg white omelette with veggies & sausage. SO good, and the vegetables were FRESH! No canned/frozen etc. And, they used portabella mushrooms. YES please! My husband had the south side Benny with grits. Something I never would have thought of, but the grits really pick up the flavor of the over easy eggs. YUM. And you really didn’t miss the English muffin. My kiddo had the Texas french toast. It was ok. French toast. Home fries were also good. BUT, the corned beef hash really is the best I have ever had! Next time I might have to try the stuffed french toast. One of the specials was banana peanut butter stuffed French toast with cream cheese, chocolate shavings and whipped cream… wha!!! So awesome. This place is also super family friendly. They have coloring books & books & provide crayons. Great for my 16 month old. The only negative would be that the whole experience took a little over two hours because there was a wait, and it took a while to get our food(obviously because of the amount of people). But, so worth the wait. Go, go now!

Fantastically good brunch place — super yummy veggie hash. I thought it was going to be a yuppie hipster joint, but was relieved to see it totally wasn’t– just a great diner with a broad menu.

I’ve been hearing about this place for a while now then I finally went to try it out and, wow, now I see what all the hype it about. The menu is very extensive so there’s a little something on there for everyone, I loved the loaded home fries they were cooked perfectly not greasy at all nice and crispy, my omelette was out of this world all fresh ingredients. I saw the pancakes go over to another table those are on my radar for next time, prices are great also!

«Classic Benny» was pretty good. Eggs were a little under for my taste but the sauce was spot on. Home fries were good. Husband got the pancake plate. Maybe it was an «off» batch but he needed to drown the cakes in syrup because they were wicked dry. Bacon was good. Coffee is okay. Friendly service, small place that gets busy around 9 so if you’re going to try it come early. We noticed most people were ordering specials so that may be the way to go. Lots of regulars, so we’ll come again.

Stopped here on a drive between Long Island and Boston. The only reason there isn’t a 5th star is because the décor is plain. But the food is very good! Here on New Years Day and they were only serving breakfast. I had the Eggs Carbonara which was scrambled eggs with a creamy, cheesy bacony sauce over toast. There was great flavor and the toast added some crunch to the otherwise creamy eggs. Their corned beef hash was also very tasty. Service was friendly and the place had a great local feel. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

I love corned beef hash, and the claim of «Best Corned Beef Hash in RI» needed to be verified. For my test, I had it with poached eggs on top, home fries, and their Italian bread as toast. The eggs were poached perfectly, and the yolk mixed with the hash, is making my mouth water as I’m writing it. It was in fact that good. It wasn’t very finally minced, but rather large chunks that had been pulled apart. And it was at the tender point, where the beef just separated with a fork, and melted in your mouth. It was also impressive how much of the corned beef hash was actually corned beef. The service was great, and the little diner was quite quaint, with seating at the counter, as well as around tables. I also tried the Portuguese sweet bread french toast, and that made for an exquisite dessert. This is a place where you can take your out of town guests, and know that they will not be disappointed.

In a nuthsell… the décor is old school but the food is great. If you dont care about ambience and are ok with metal chairs formika counter tops… than this place will satisfy your taste buds. They do have great gluten free pancakes which was a nice surprise and the salmon hash omlette was so unique I had to ask the waitress the ingredients. My taste buds were exploding from the unique combo of ingredients they used to put my breakfast together. All in all… casual with a very small town friendly atmosphere. Our total meal for two came to about $ 30 which was a very fair price for the amount and quality of the food served here.

I decided to give this place a try. The food is great. The corn beef hash is one of the best I had! I gave 4 stars because they don’t take any credit cards and I had an egg shell in my eggs. Overall good food.

The best breakfast I ever had. Came here with a group of six friends from New York City and all different dishes ordered were perfect. The wait is a little long since it is a popular local spot but it is well worth it! We were lucky and only waited under 10 minutes for our seats. The food took a little under a half hour later but a masterpiece takes time.

Hubby and I came here for brunch on a rainy Monday late morning. The place was semi-full. It has a very old quaint feel. I love that. The staff upon entering, was so welcoming and pleasant. Throughout our meal they repeatedly checked on us. Food came out in a timely manner. Hubby had the Portuguese sweet bread french toast. Ok that was the best French toast we have ever had!!! I had the waffle and it was awesome! I’m picky with waffles, which is why I don’t order it out most of the time but I was feeling like a waffle today and decided to give it a try. Not disappointed, it was thick but very delicious. I mean like almost the best I’ve ever had. Can’t say the best because that would be very conclusive. But it’s up there. But why was I able to say the French toast was the best ever? Because frankly, it was! Scrambled eggs were scrambled just right. Potatoes we really good. All in all this was a great experience. Zero complaints. They have five solid stars from me.
