Speedy Mart

As far as gas stations go this place is pretty great. They don’t fix tires, or tinker in auto repair the way some of those «full service» gas stations do (you know, the one’s where they’d charge you $ 147 dollars and 63 cents to change your oil, if, you were idiotic enough to take your vehicle to get serviced at the ol’ gas-​n-​sip) but I digress, they don’t sell fried chicken or have a doughnut shop nestled between the Auto-​trader rack and the toilet –they just sell GAS (and of course candy bars, gum, batteries, cigarets, condoms & scratch tickets; like all gas stations must). Why this «back to basics» approach to the petrol biz appeals to me is because the lack of shenanigans make it a fast, convenient and relatively hassle free place to stop for gas. It’s easy to get in and out of from either north or southbound Warwick ave. And here’s the icing on the cake… the gas prices are generally quite good. In fact, the only «down» side to this place at all is sometimes their gas prices dip SO low that they generate lines backing out onto Warwick Ave, and if I’m rushing to work I might just skip it, and come back mid-​day when there’s no waiting; in –n– out, ya know? Lastly, the folks who run the place are genuinely NICE. Always with a smile. Even if you’re in there the day before payday counting out $ 3.43 in pennies and Canadian quarters –at least here that’ll buy you an ENTIRE gallon of gas!
