Fellowship Baptist Church

We visited this church a few times to get a feel for it, see what was taught from the pulpit and consider it for a church home. The people were friendly enough, invited us to stay for lunch the first time we visited. However, it took a few visits to find out what the place was really like.
The interpretation of Matthew 24 & 25 was interesting in that the pastor suggested the unsaved could be raptured to be with the Lord. I’m not sure who he was trying to please with that sermon.
The straw that broke the camel’s back for us was the preaching from the pulpit that contemporary music is conformity to the world, and therefore from the devil and had no place in the church. I’m sure some of the old timers might agree, but to me that’s merely an opinion without a scriptural basis that has no business being preached from the pulpit. How we worship the Lord may or may not be important but idolizing our preferences in how we worship the Lord is dangerous ground. The Three B’s, Bach, Brahms & Beethoven were all contemporaries at one time — each hymn in the hymnal was a contemporary song at one period in time.
The preaching, in my humble opinion, seemed to have its foundation in church tradition, to be about rules and trying to please the membership, not about preaching the truth. Unfortunately, in many churches, the members decide whether or not the pastor stays or goes based on whether or not they like what he’s preaching as opposed to whether or not the preaching is biblically sound.
