First of all the wait worth it!!! Every item it made fresh that day from the same recipes used for over 20 years. My favorites are but not limited to the filled chocolate bar & the pestoroll warmed up with ranch.

This business still exists, they just had to change the way they do things in today’s troubled economy. They’ve gone mobile. Now find them at farmer’s markets. If you don’t believe me here is a link for their FB page:

O MAN! I haven’t had a PESTOROLL in years! I remember the last time I was in Crescent City — when I fed the area as soon as I got into college — I never had a chance(or, maybe just because) to come back to Continental Bakery! A 100% must, must get or even try this place out for a PESTOROLL, make sure you get it warmed/toasted and oohh man delicious! 5 stars. COFFEE: I would recommend other local places. But, it’s good one stop place — coffee and pesto roll. 4 stars. Service wasn’t too great. It wasn’t first come, first served. The locals and the regulars get their orders first — well, make sure they are the people who are giving them business; however, I think it’s unfair to newbies or people who simply can’t afford to come all the time and just want a pesto roll. 4 stars. OVERALL: ROLLWITHTHEPESTOROLL!

Huge, delicious donuts and huge, delicious sandwiches! We bought donuts and coffee for breakfast and a couple sandwiches to pack for lunch later that day. All of it was excellent. The counter-person was friendly and helped recommend things to try for first-time visitors. They weren’t quite set up to make the days’ sandwiches when we arrived in the morning, but accommodated our request anyway. They took a little while to make, so I’m not sure if that’s normal or if it was due to us being the first people to order them that day. If we return to Crescent City we will definitely visit here again.

We were travelling through and stopped on a whim. The guy with the pink hair was super nice veryhelpful about the area to us. Bear claw was THEBEST. I didn’t have their new orange glazed raised but it looked dreamy. When we are back in Crescent City we will go back!

I used Unilocal to find a yummy place to grab a bite. The reviews are spot on. I ordered the veggie sandwich on the pesto cheese roll and found it to be amazing. The guy with the pink hair was there and lived up to his reputation. One word of advice… don’t plan on being in a hurry. It took about 20 minutes to get two sandwiches but it was worth the wait.

This town may be small, but they easily, hands down have the best bakery I have ever tasted! The pesto rolls are to just die for! I have never found this simple treat anywhere else, and I’ve looked. Ask them to warm it up for you and get a ranch to go with it. The bear claws, indescribable. Old fashions are superb. Maple and choc bars, so yummy. Anything filled with custard is a win-win. The apple fritters, also very good. The chai latte’s are more on the watered down side, I would not order a chai latte from here ever. The hot chocolates, especially the mexican, are tasty though(I don’t drink coffee). They finally started taking CC’s and don’t charge for it but you do need a minimum amount before you can use it, but that shouldn’t be a problem because you can’t go wrong in this place! They also will not make wedding cakes(I’m fairly sure, this may have changed).

Was passing through town and needed a sugar rush for the 101 drive on a rainy day and spotted this place. I thought this was going to be another ho-hum sugared lard production shop. Was I wrong! It’s clear pastries are the local owners’ passion. Never have I experienced chocolate doughnuts with the dark(not overly sweet) chocolate frosting poured on so thickly. The same goes for the other varieties. After ordering just one and walking back to my car eating it, I had to turn back and order more for the road. My only gripe is it closes at 2pm. I guess it keeps costs down by having only 1 shift, but still it would be nice if they were open around 4 or 5pm so weary afternoon travelers can have some quality sweet jolts.

This place was really awesome. Very good prices and the baked good are delicious. I got the maple old fashion donut, which was so good, I can’t remember one I”ve that was better, and the pesto roll. The pesto roll was so unique and so good. The dude working behind the country was also pretty cool. Over all an awesome place. I usually don’t eat food like this, but I think it was well worth the exception.

This is the random bakery we mere mortals only hope of running into on some unplanned excursion to an unknown territory. This is it! I did the work for you, now you just have to bump into it, unsuspectingly. Pesto rolls are a must. I wish I bought the rest of them on my visit. I’ve never tasted a doughy, green-garlicky roll so fine. The old fashioned doughnuts are also tops. The plain was fantastic and the maple frosted was pushing my limits on making obesity acceptable. Go here!

Get the berry strudel. Trust me on this one. It’s filled with fresh berry goodness. Skip the bagels and the ‘croissants’ if you have strong feelings about such things(as I do). I’m not a fan of donuts(insane, I know), but the bf loves them as much as Homer Simpson does. He really enjoys the ones at Continental. Everything is baked fresh. Prices are quite reasonable, but if you want to save even more money check out the day-old rack by the entrance.

Wonderful! I have toured the continental US for the best donuts and by far this bakery tops!!! Anything you order is delicious!!! Must try the chocolate chip scone which has a hint of orange, long johns– filled with their homemade goodness, and of course the traditional glazed!

I have only been to this place once, but I dream of it often! I was here last summer on a Seattle to San Francisco bicycle trip. And let me tell you – nothing gets a day of biking started like stuffing your paniers full of their delicious doughnuts – and I am a doughnut nerd! I am picky! I am from Seattle/the home of the Top Pot. But these doughnuts are amazing! Like Top Pot, they don’t have that fried-in-teriyaki-oil cheap taste that most California shops and mom-and-pop doughnut shops do. But they’re better than top pot because they don’t have the pretentiousness of top pot. I need to get back to this place, but it is such a long ride. Maybe they ship?

OK, this place ruined me when I had my first custard filled maple bar years ago, they use real custard and they are FABULOUS! Fortunately, I do not get here often and I have never found another custard filled maple bar anywhere else that compares. The problem is all the locals love this place and if you do not get here before 10:00AM they are sold out. There are plenty of other wonderful treats to be enjoyed, I usually get the same thing, once in awhile I get two items though this type of food is a shock to my system since I only eat this way when I am in Crescent City… hence why the majority of the town is quite plump.
