I highly recommend you look for a different senior apartment option in Crescent City. The electronic door system does not work, so you will be stuck outside trying to get in, and then have to go to the one door where you will have a key, which is in a very inconvenient spot, far away from any apartments. There is no logic to this system, but they’re stickin’ to it. This old hotel is the first building from the ocean. That’s great for being able to walk across the street to Beachfront Park. But, Crescent City gets intense wind and rainstorms. It’s not unusual for the wind to be 35 mph with 60 mph gusts. And in this building you will get the full force of that wind. So, getting from your car to the building can be scary. And then when your key doesn’t work to get you in, you are a sitting duck for any homeless person going through the garbage, etc., and/or hoping not to fall over in the wind and rain, with all of your groceries and your dog, etc., while you try to walk to the other end of the building trying to get in. The management seems very friendly at first — until you have a problem. If you can’t afford to live anywhere else and are in a hurry(there is a reason there is no waiting list here), this is better than camping. And it’s in walking distance of anything you would need. But, it’s also front and center in the tsunami zone. If you can wait for a better option, I suggest you do.
