Hungry Peddler has pleasantly surprised me many times. Their appetizers are the best. I recommend the buffalo sliders, fried zucchini, fries, and french onion soup. If you’re like me and you’d rather just eat a bunch of appetizers, come to Peddler on Sundays where they have a great bar menu with a bunch of apps for $ 7. Wing night on Mondays/Wednesdays is a fantastic deal: $ 2 Yuengling and .50 cent wings. Their wings are some of the best I’ve ever had for that price: very saucy and very meaty, with a delicious, spicy flavor. I also really enjoy the ambiance at the bar. Bartenders are very friendly and it’s a fun atmosphere during football games. I used to think the service was a bit slow, but the last few times I’ve been here, we were served quickly and efficiently.

Went here with the BF again last night for dinner. It was ok… decent for the price but could have been better. He had the stuffed shrimp dinner… was tasty and filling but seemed the stuffing seemed mostly bread. I had the shrimp scampi which was also tasty but was a little oily and could have been more flavorful. was lacking that winey garlicy scampi taste. Bread for the table was beyond stale and the salads were ok but their italian vinegarette was mostly oil and flavorless. Again… will probably be back but maybe will stick with burgers and sandwiches… maybe will try a steak.

Love this place! It was my mom’s bar when she was my age and I just love coming here with her or with my friends. Bartenders are awesome, especially Dennis! He makes a GREAT cosmo. The best french onion soup i’ve ever had. Anything you get here is great. They have live bands come in on the weekends and really bring in a great crowd. When they open the back bar outside, it gives the place a larger feel which I love. Been coming here for years and will continue to come!

I’ve been coming here for few years. The food is good and it’s very consistent. The bartenders are very friendly. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the table service.

Basically a bar scene. Some of the worst pasta I ever ate. Stick to basic fried foods.

if I could I wouldn’t even give it a star. TERRIBLE Service!!! was refused tap water, while I was eating hot wings!!! The waitress also ignored me everytime I tried to get her attention. I was told i had to buy extra items because I got their special they offered me(.50) wings. she lied and said it was on the sign when it wasn’t. I asked for the manager and she said the manager didn’t wanna deal with me. I never got to speak to the manager, I knew from the moment I ordered I wasn’t welcome there. very rude im disgusted!!! never ever again.

I have eaten in some of the most expensive restaurants in the country, and I can’t understand why people think the ‘Peddler’ is so bad. I have known Steve, the owner since his first day of business(then, it was Steve, Butch and Frank). I have never had a bad meal here. Amie and Dennis, the bar-keeps, are friendly and attentive,(busy is not bad service, people). Their spedini ala romano is great, as are their ribs, burgers and chicken with peppers and sausage(a little hot). While you can’t please everyone, the ‘Peddler’ seems busy enough when I’m there, like Friday night karaōke, or Saturday night live music. I’m taking my motorcycle club there tonight for dinner. Don’t believe the bad reviews, rather, go there yourself and try it out. Say that Gary sent you!

It’s bar food. They do offer a variety of dishes. From American classics to italian(pasta dishes, pizza). I’ve always thought to not get italian food anywhere but italian restaurants. My family has gotten the burgers and fries and sandwiches, they always seem happy with those. My last previous visit I got the Chicken Pot Pie, which was pretty huge(recommend sharing) and comes with a house salad. Big and with a huge flaky pastry puff. And on this last trip the Chicken Cacciatore caught my eye, but I wanted it with rice, and they obliged, it also came with a house salad and I shared it this time as it is a large portion. I don’t get to enjoy chicken cacciatore often, and I was able to. YAY! The flavors are decent and the value is as well. Especially for what seems like Pub restaurant. I wouldn’t run to the Hungry Peddler but it is open later than other spots and near to where I visit. It’s nice to know it exists as an option.

Mixed review at best. It’s not clear whether Peddler wants to be a bar that sells food or a restaurant that happens to have a bar? Our dinner had peaks and valleys. Our mozzarella sticks were excellent while our fried calamari and New England clam chowder was passable at best. My wife’s pastrami sandwich was frankly a waste but my Shrimp with Broccoli and sun dried tomatoes over a bed of capellini was excellent. I’m not sure I know which one does the Peddler want to be? At dinner for three was$ 78, it wasn’t expensive but it certainly was not cheap. At 2.50 a glass of rolling rock, at least the beer was cheap. With all the other good choices in the area, I’ll have to think twice before I go here again.

I used to go to this place a way back when. It was pretty awesome then, and I still think it’s awesome now. They have pretty much the same menu but here I was on pasta night and it was fun. It was a pretty slow night, a Tuesday, large flakes of snow falling so I didn’t think it was going to be packed. The bar was though! The never ending pasta bowl had me done at one. They give you very large portions so you don’t have to get a second bowl. I was depressed I had been conquered.

The Hungry Peddler is a great place. Cozy, warm, low ceiling, plenty of parking, good service, awesome lunch specials and prices. Lunch comes with meal and delicious homemade soup. The Meatloaf Dinner Sandwich is very good — it’s like a meatloaf dinner on a hard roll with mashed potatoes & gravy. The Chicken Parmigiana dinner with side of linguini is as good as it gets. The tomato sauce is top notch. The owner is a very nice guy along with the friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I had a few other lunch specials and dinners there and never, ever had a complaint about the food or any of the staff. Very cozy hobbit house style tavern with old fashioned popcorn machine. The place is always clean and the food is fresh. Can’t wait to go again later this afternoon. Buon Appetito!

I have had many a burger here over the last 25 years … but I hadn’t been back there in some time(~5 years). There was a time when their burgers were excellent. Now I would say the food we were recently served would be best described as «adequate». Sorry to say, but this place has officially fallen off my radar.

I have no problem with musky old man bars but this place was sleazy. I’m pretty sure I was over charged. Bartender was very inattentive. Would not go back

The owner or head cook is an idiot for starters. In addition I was in the bathroom doing my thing and one of the cooks came in pissed and left without washing his hands. Yeah I want him handling my food

Never, never, never again. I don’t review restaurants much– and I often review generously, looking for ways to see the best in the establishments. I try my best to avoid putting emotion into my thought process, but I can’t hold back this time. The reason is because I have been a «regular» at this place, on and off, for over seven years. But here is why I will never return. Over the last few years, the service has gradually worsened. Being a small restaurant in a small town, there are a lot of regulars. So the owners and waiters know us by face– or at least that’s what we think. I was speaking to a friend in the restroom, had the door held open because it’s a small bathroom– doesn’t sound too harmful, does it? A waiter told me to not do it, so I completed my conversation and left the restroom. The owner said that I was told«three times to not do it again, and next time I would be told to leave.» Keep in mind, this is not a prize winning restaurant. It is just a local place for friends to get together and eat. But the prices on many items have slowly gone up, portions have been reduced, and service has been abysmal. And after this recent experience, I will never return here. The way the owner spoke to me is completely unacceptable, especially since she has seen me regularly for many years.

Come to Hungry Peddler for their wing night: $.50 wings + $ 2 beers — you really can’t go wrong. They also have really really good French Onion Soup, it’s ooey gooey and has just the right portions of onions and cheese. And no matter what you order, get fries on the side. They are thick cut, come out of the kitchen steaming hot, and they are so delicious. The only real gripe I have about this place is you can’t bring your own bottled water and in the past, they’ve charged me when I’ve ordered water. Water should be free, in my opinion. But that little setback won’t stop me from coming here. The food is consistent and the prices are cheap.

I just don’t know. Haven’t been here in many years. Food always was terrible. So, thought I would drop in and grab a beer and something to eat. Sat at the bar, the bartender was pleasant and on the button. I decided on the«open faced steak sandwich». Well, it came out really fast(definitely a food warmer in the kitchen) and was smothered with mushrooms which were way over cooked and probably sitting in grease. At least that’s what they tasted like. The steak? Totally flavorless and tuff as leather. I tried to eat it but just couldn’t. I pushed the plate away at the bar and the barkeep came over and asked, would you like me to wrap it up and, I said no, it wasn’t that good and she ditched the plate. A bit later I asked for the check and paid my bill with a decent tip. When I got up to leave the bartender must have told the owner who said, comp my food, I said no, she insisted. I gave them 2 stars bc she had the meal comped. The easy thing to do would be to serve a better meal. Note: they charge an arm and a leg for all their meals, if your gonna charge like that, make sure your food is good!. Just sayin…

I don’t understand why the reviews are so low for this place. I’ve been going here for years with family and friends and have never had a bad experience. Beer selection/specials is limited I’ll say that. But the food is usually pretty damn good for the price you pay. The few mistakes the kitchen may or may not have made, I’ve never had a problem with them fixing it. Bartenders are ALWAYS nice! I’m hardly ever kept waiting for food or drinks. The bar pizza is really good. The burgers are ALWAYS cooked properly. Wings are good. Clams and mussels are good. Tortellini Alfredo is good. And if you’re a Giants fan you’ll be right at home. And if you don’t like hanging around locals, don’t go to bars or restaurants where you don’t belong! ;-) GOGIANTS!!!
