I stumbled upon Samdan a long time ago when I was on the cross country team in high school. One day, it was really hot outside and we stopped in here to go to the bathroom. The staff was very nice and even gave us water so we could continue on our run. …, and I’ve came here ever since. The restaurant is super nice inside and makes you feel like you are in a fancy catering hall. The staff is very welcoming & friendly. The food is absolutely excellent. I usually come here for the lunch special($ 12.95) which is a great deal. You get an entrée which is very filling(vegan options available) and a shepherd salad or lentil soup option that comes with it. The entrée list is very extensive and everything is $ 12.95 you couldnt find anything you didnt like. I usually get the chicken tavuk which is perfectly grilled and seasoned every time on top of their buttery but not too buttery rice. We had some extra requests like more lemon with tea & red onion, and regular peppers instead of spicy peppers and he seemed to get really annoyed. whatever. For dessert we had baklava, which sometimes tastes stale but that’s not what we come here for. Excellent restaurant, I definitely recommend this place for any person that loves Turkish cuisine.

Great food. Had the Shepard salad-very good. Ordered the hummus and boreka. Boreka has feta cheese with flakey crust very good. Shared the chicken kabob-was plenty for 2 people. Chicken Comes over rice and was cooked to perfection. The food is always good here.

Always delicious! Have been going to this restaurant for a long time now and it never fails! The owner is always there and making sure that all is well. The staff are extremely friendly and quick. Also, they just opened an outdoor seating area for the summer. Great idea! Chicken in yogurt — amazing! Lamb gyro is great Babaganush is always perfect Rice is delicious Cacik — Turkish yogurt dip is a must for the shepherds salad with cheese! Cigar rolls are delicious fried cheese rolls Don’t forget the Turkish coffee and baklava! Get the chefs spicy sauce if you like fire. Go! You won’t regret it!

Great food, just a little pricey. This is our special occasion middle eastern restaurant. Another trick, order it to go, pick it up, and save 20 percent. Highlights include the kebabs and the shepherd salad.

This is an excellent Turkish place in the north of Jersey. We first had babaganoush, hummus, shepherd’s salad and falafel, everything was great and tasted fresh. For main course, the kofte was really good, though the rice portion was perhaps a bit big for the dish. Finally, for the best part, the dessert was outstanding. If you’re gonna have anything at all, go for the baklava. Service staff was outstanding and though the place was really busy, we were well taken care of. I must also commend Juan for never missing a beat and working hard to clear tables and serving water in a very pleasant and professional way. Busboys are not always commended for their services but our group was impressed. I can’t think of any reason to go to Jersey other than to go here. You won’t regret it.

This place is wonderful and hasn’t changed one bit over the years. Great food at a decent price(costly but not overpriced), with amazing service and upscale atmosphere without the snobbishness you would expect. They customize the food so I don’t like tomatoes and they removed it, they offer so much bread and their appetizers are delicious.

Another old favorite of mine. Lovely white tablecloth restaurant with warm hospitality reminiscent of Turkey. Excellent Turkish food. Warm grilled pitas on the table. Start with the Shepherds Salad. The large serves four people generously. With the bread it’s easy to ruin your appetite. That would be a shame because you’ll love the food. Get the Iskenderun — gyro slices with yogurt and rich tomato sauce. Try the tender lamb shish kebab cooked to order. Big portions. Try the traditional Middle East desserts. BYOB. Always full of families. Can be pricey for dinner. Bargain lunches.

DONOTORDERONLINE — THEYWILLSTEALYOURMONEYANDNOTPROVIDEYOUWITHFOOD. THENTHEYWILLLIE, LIE, LIE. SOIFYOUWISHTODOBUSINESSWITHLIARSANDTHIEVES, CARRYON… We placed an online order with this restaurant through their website. We were charged for our order and we received an email from the restaurant confirming the order. When we didn’t receive our order for over an hour, we contacted the restaurant who stated«You should always call in your orders for delivery as our On Line ordering has problems.» When I explained you are taking people’s money without providing the service and it is illegal they then stated«our power went out this never happens.» So which is it, we should always call in orders because your online ordering doesn’t work and you know this but continue to leave online ordering up on your website, deduct from people’s credit cards and send confirmation or your power went out because that was a convenient LIE. Taking money and not delivering food is theft. This vendor is committing larceny knowingly and lying about the actual problem. I continued to ask why they would advertise online ordering and not have it disabled when they know they have issues and they said again, «you should call in your orders» I am now on hold with Paypal who processed the transaction and have been on hold for 13 minutes and counting.

Wonderful food and quickly friendly staff, we’re never disappointed here! The last visit I ordered a dessert off the menu that wasn’t listed to have nuts in it and they were very considerate and quick to change it out for something else with no hassle. I strongly suggest the hummus and salad as appetizers, those two are our favs. Enjoy :)

Excellent Turkish food. Samdan combination platter is the best combo of meats with buttered rice on the side. Fried calves liver is another favorite of mine that I highly recommend trying.

Wonderful lunch! I had some of the best lamb kebabs and a dynamite lentil soup for lunch. I was there for a meeting with colleagues, and we all loved it. If you’re vegetarian, they have a huge selection of vegetarian items on the luncheon menu. For 11.95 a person, it was great. Three of us had the lamb, one had falafel, and one had hummus and grape leaves. You start with a salad or soup — I think three of us had the soup and two had the salad, and we were all happy with our choices. The lamb was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Great place to go if you’re in the neighborhood.

What a treat to step into a restaurant with a white tablecloth on the table but you can still go to for an informal occasion. The food has always been delicious and my family has been coming here for 15+ years! Some things that you should get are the hummus, the Shepards salad with cheese, and the Samdam Combination mixed grill. If you’re in the area, you should definitely check out this Mediterranean heaven!

Came in here one night with a group after one of our friends had hyped up the appetizer salad. The place was very busy that night but luckily we managed to score the last open table. They brought us a nice warm bread basket(pita bread) while they took our drink order. After a few minutes we were ready. We started off with an order of their salad, an order of babaganush, and an order of their fried liver cubes. The salad was the star of the night, normally salads are not worthy of any praise but this one was really great. Diced veggies, cucumber, onions, and tomatoes with a very strong dressing. The babaganush was good as well, especially with the warm pita bread that we had been saving for it. I prefer my humus/babaganush a little more garlicky but this one was still nice. Last on my list was the liver cubes. I think I just don’t care much for liver as I’ve yet to have a liver dish which has made me want to eat more of it. I had a few of them and then went back to the salad/spread. As an entrée I had the Adanna Kebab over rice. Very large and tender cubed lamb chunks seasoned with some spice I couldn’t quite place my finger on. The portions were very big and we all left fully satisfied. The service was average, which is to say it was good, and pricing was fair. If it wasn’t so out of the way from where I am I could come more often. However for the time being, this will be my go to place for middle eastern food.

Finally! An authentic Turkish restaurant that offers the popular dishes done right. As an old fan of the long-gone Seven Hills of Istanbul in Highland Park, I’ve tried nearly a dozen other restaurants up and down New Jersey since, with very little success and satisfaction. Apparently, it is that hard to have a good Turkish restaurant that doesn’t close in on itself. On a recommendation of a mall salesperson with the same passion for Turkish food, she sent us here. Finally, our run of bad luck was over. The dishes were well-portioned and tasty, from the shepherd’s salad to the kebabs. The desserts topped off the dinner perfectly. Luckily open this Thanksgiving night, it was nice and quiet. Our server was very accommodating and attentive, not much more you could ask for. We’ll be definitely coming back again.

Went here with my business partner for lunch today and we both agreed that this place was spot on. I have been to many middle eastern restaurants in Cliffside Park and Edgewater but this place rivals them. Everything was so delicious especially the adana kebab which had to be one of the very best I have had period! The lunch platter with rice and veggies were so fresh and you can see they use very high quality ingredients. Also not to mention the service by the staff was excellent and they were very attentive. Food came out super fast as we were in a rush and made them aware they more than accommodated us. Highly recommend and will be coming back more often!
