I’m not a big fancy-shmancy coffee fan, so take this with a grain of salt or dollop of cream. The atmosphere was good, and the coffee lovers seemed to enjoy the special coffees. I just enjoyed being alive and outside in Crested Butte on a nice day.

Rumors Coffee is my favorite place for hot drinks in Crested Butte. You’ll suffer greatly if you are looking for a franchised coffee-house atmosphere, because when you enter the front doors of this coffee and connected bookshop, you can leave your bigger-than-life-Texas-ego at the sidewalk. The service is excellent and more importantly, patient and helpful. We had just finished Mass and were in need of a warm-up to prepare for a chilly evening walk through Crested Butte, and Rumors Coffee will always have the perfect drink for that! I found my new taste in a caramel coffee drink that I’ll be back for, again!

I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful when I was deciding on a coffee. What I ended up getting was delicious. The atmosphere is neat with the bookstore connected to it and the patio outside is great for people watching or having a great view of the mountains.

Coffee and service is great. They only brew allegro which is not high end coffee but it is well crafted for such a large roaster. Typically dark roast on cue with one medium. A bit of breakfast foods and books to brows or buy.

Great service, even if there’s only one person working. The breakfast items are good– even the Vegan Burrito! The house I stay in only has a coffee maker so I’m glad that there is a place with a good tea selection just two doors away. Conveniently located in Elk Avenue.

Free WiFi. … everyone is friendly… the coffee is good. Nice indie or outdoor seating, either in the shade or to soak up some sun. A lovely way to people watch in the morning sun.

Great coffee shop! Just spent a week in CB and liked Rumors best out of the local shops. They have a fairly smooth coffee, really nice staff and atmosphere.

I cannot envision a better coffee shop! Rumors has amazing coffee (and it’s cheap), a variety of chai with which to make a latte, awesome muffins and the friendliest staff around. The patio is huge and super dog friendly, too. And the kicker? Townie Books is attached, so you can grab a coffee, an excellent book and read all afternoon with the Rockies as your backdrop.

Very nice coffee shop in the adorable little town of Crested Butte. Our service was a little cranky and they were out of the breakfast burrito we’d been told to come in and try, but the chai tea and the yerba mate were both delicious and not overpoweringly sweet. Very nice, quiet atmosphere. Not a good spot for kids as a number of people go there to work.

We only stopped in to Rumors for a quick cup of coffee before wandering the streets of Crested Butte but it looked like a very fun and cool place to relax. There’s a bookstore right next door — always a good sign. Chairs and couches looked comfy and plentiful. There was definitely nothing «oppressive» or «corporate» about this place.
I had a Café Cubano — described to me as «very sweet and very strong». It was tremendous. My wife had a mocha, which was also very tasty. Not the cheapest cups of coffee I ever bought — almost $ 8 for the two — but worth it.
