As a former employee, I can tell you based on my previous experience working as a manager in other restaurants, this restaurant will always have a poor rating. The General Manager, Bert, has no formal leadership training. Her daytime shift manager, Elissa, has no formal leadership training. Both of these manager’s lack of experience in management leadership has brought on other bad reviews. The service is slow and poor based on the managements inability to delegate authority and trust their employees to do their jobs. Micro-management and unprofessionalism are the reason this store is not producing the numbers it should. It definitely isn’t McDonalds standards. When I tried to offer my help, both managers felt more threatened than open to receiving constructive criticism. Both managers seemed to think It was inappropriate for the«new guy» to offer his advice. The General Manager even said that I say, «Thank you» to much and that I needed to know when to say«Thank You». The environment is negative which is brought on by stress due to the unprofessionalism of the General Manager and shift manager. Employees using the word«fuck» during business hours within hearing distance of the customers and untucked shirts are just a few of the details that need to be addressed by management. Good employees know they can work anywhere for $ 9.00/hr. Good managers should be able to identify this. Unfortunately, Bert and Elissa haven’t been able to because of their lack of leadership training. The restaurant is owned by J&D Restaurant Inc. out of Des Moines, IA.
