liked their old location better, but still the same great fried chicken!

Fried chicken is fantastic! Like literally delicious!!! I wish I could say the same for the sides, each that I have tried have been pretty bland. Staff is usually SUPER friendly, the older guy working the register today was less than unpleasant. Doesn’t say hello, or greet you in anyway. When I asked what other side options they had besides the usual green beans, potatoes, okra and Mac n cheese — he just pointed to the paper instead of perhaps telling me what they were. Whatever, I know I can read! Dining room is also adorable! whoever designed their new location really put effort into it! I’ll be back!

Don’t get the fish. It’s disgusting. Enough said. the sides are wonderful here though, fried mac n cheese bites, okra, slaw, mash, all perfect. The po boys on Saturday are probably my favorite. Go with crawfish or clams on it. Chicken is pretty good too. It’s really the vast selection of sides and their Louisiana style secret menu that keeps me coming back.

Wanted to order carry out for my family in the afternoon but the counter lady was too busy to take my order. I was the only person standing there but I suppose I inconvenienced her too much to stop to take my order as she screamed to someone in the back. Common courtesy and basic manners would have gone a long way today, sorry the food is not good enough to put up with this kind of rudeness. Swing and a miss…

New place is nice, but a 25 minute wait after placing my order, watching those who ordered after me get their orders and leave, was not what I expected based on years of attentive service at the former location. They obviously were having trouble with the new numbering system. The fact that no one even offered an apology after the delay was realized was unacceptable. I like the food; I like the owners; I wish them great success in the new location. Because of these factors I will return, but I hope they get it together quickly.

Now this is the place! Great fish, great chicken, friendly service. Everytime I go I’m never disappointed. I love Lee’s, love Church’s, and KFC. But, their chicken tops them all. Tastes the most homemade. Plus I love the mom and pop shops. Support the small buisness owners. But its the quality that will bring you back. On occasion I take dinner to my brother. This is a great choice. Their catfish, chicken and sides are great. The price is reasonable too. My brother was blown away by how good everything was. And now takes his friends there. Saw that they are moving down the street. And you can bet you’ll see me there.

Solid place… went there once for the fried chicken and then again today for the po boys. Chicken was good — I don’t remember liking it as much as Schnucks’ chicken, but it was moist and the batter very crispy. Had two po boys, crawfish and chicken fingers. Good, soft long bread.

This is probably my favorite place for Fried Chicken in STL. Just wish it was closer to home. We ordered up a 100 pieces for the office the other day. I was pleasantly surprised how well it kept ordering such a big quantity.

Wow! My wife and I stopped in after a morning of thrift shopping. I found the place on Unilocal and saw the reviews were great. The pictures looked good so we decided to give it a go. We walked in, went to the counter and spent a few minutes looking over the chalkboard menus. We both decided on chicken strips and fries. They have an immense menu, but the smell of chicken had us craving strips. The employees are extremely friendly. They seem to know a lot of their customers on a first name basis. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and quick and we had our cups in hand and were on our way to find a table. The joints a tad small but they are switching locations and hopefully moving to a bigger place. The food was out in about 7 – 8 minutes. And whoa. The chicken strips were HUGE. The fries were plentiful! For the $ 14 we spent we got 10 chicken strips and 2 servings out fries. And that’s not all. The chicken strips were THEBESTIVEEVERHAD. Absolutely, without a doubt. The fries were delicious as well. The honey mustard is incredible! If you don’t try this place, you’re missing out. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

THE best friend chicken in St. Louis. Seriously. Three reasons to go there now: 1. Delicious Chicken. They use a batter coating on their chicken, and it is sooo good. 2. Lots of Options. They have a large menu, you’re sure to find something you like. Don’t forget about their weekday lunch specials, either. 3. Great Service. The owner is often running the register and is a genuinely nice guy from New Orleans. The food is delivered quickly and is always fresh.

Best fried chicken in St. Louis, hands down. Service was speedy as well for the number of customers in the restaurant.

This was our first visit to King Edwards Chicken. The fried chicken was really tasty, and perfectly breaded. If you don’t like fried chicken with a ton of crispy breading on it, then you’ll enjoy this. The sides are a different story — we ordered a side of fried okra — this appeared to be cooked from frozen. The breading was the type that you can completely pull off the okra intact and once it was off, the okra inside was uncooked and unseasoned. We also got some fried zucchini and it was the same issue — breading that’s too heavy for the vegetable and the vegetable itself is not really cooked or seasoned. We ended up tossing them both. Still, we’d go back for the fried chicken alone and maybe try a different side item.

This place is a surprise. From the outside, it’s just your typical strip mall space, and the inside is not much different, but, they have a very full menu of options, plenty of side choices and excellent service. I opted for a 4 piece meal for me, an 8 piece meal for my nephew and an order of fried clam strips, which were about as good as I’ve ever had them. I ate part of the strips in the car and the chicken and sides(cole slaw and potato salad, pretty good) later once I got home and I could only eat the two smaller pieces as I wasn’t super hungry. I really wanted to eat more(the chicken was very good) and finally did eat another piece later and saved the last piece for breakfast the next day. I would easily go here again especially since there are more things to try than one can do in a single visit.

Best real fried chicken around. This isn’t some over breaded chicken knock off. This is good old fashioned fried chicken. I love this place gets crowded at lunch but they are very fast and friendly.

I love this place. Though the sides are just okay, the fried chicken is some of the best I’ve ever had. Upset at myself for driving by this place for so many years and never bothered to give it a try. Two four piece meals plus two fountain drinks and an order of fried pickles for less than $ 16 during lunch, you cannot beat that. Highly recommend it to all the fried chicken lovers!

Pretty darn good fried chicken. Much like my favorite ghetto fried chicken in Chicago(Harold’s), they fry their yardbird in a 50⁄50 mix of vegetable oil and tallow. This gives their fried chicken a richness and crispness that is uncommon in lots of places. Even better, they have the temperature right so that the meat stays juicy without the breading getting soggy. Their 4-piece lunch special comes with a side and a soda for about $ 6.50, out the door or dine-in. That’s a hell of a bargain for lunch. It ain’t health food but it sure does hit the spot when the mood strikes.

First time, will be back! We tried the chicken strip family pack with macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, and rolls, then we added hush puppies and mashed potatoes with gravy for good measure. The chicken strips were hand breaded and crispy, so delicious. I can’t wait to try their fried chicken.

Had the fried dark chicken. It was awesome nice and juicy and not grease. The spicy hush puppies where a nice side. The chicken wings where nice the crispy and the zucchini was really good. I will be back for some fish next time.

Great chicken, meh service… I had the opposite experience of Steven B. I asked the girl at the counter if there was a smaller option, because I couldn’t eat four pieces of fried chicken in a week and was not in a position to do leftovers. She suggested the two piece meal, which cost more than the four-piece lunch special. I said, «So let me get this straight, you are suggesting that I pay more to receive less food?!» Her response: «Yes.» Hmmm… Even though the chicken was delicious, it was not Gus’ in Memphis(the standard by which I compare all fried chicken) and the employee was of no assistance at all. Thus the three star rating. It’s one of the boss’s favorites, so I’m sure I’ll be back. Hoping to be able to update my review with a more positive customer service experience.

Never judge a book by its cover, this is a perfect example. Driving by you would hardly even notice King Edwards and if you did you wouldn’t really give it much though since its set back off Watson in a 2 story strip mall type building. However if you do find yourself driving down Watson take a quick detour and stop in for some of the best fried chicken in Saint Louis. On my first trip I ordered the chicken breasts strips, which were amazing. large pieces and perfectly breaded/seasoned and made fresh! I would love to know what they use in their breading, its great. The chicken wasnt overly greasy either, so thats a big plus. I also had a side of Mac & Cheese, which was pretty good too. Prices are very reasonable, in fact its almost cheaper than going to fast food. The food here is served fast so if you are in a hurry this is a great alternative to McDonalds, and its a locally owned business! While there is limited seating here, it is mostly a carry out place which is what many people were doing. However I can imagine at lunch time this would be a great option for a quick lunch.
