Wanted an idea what St. Louis bbq was about and decided to try this place. No pork or beef options here, but mostly chicken and Turkey. It was around 6 pm and they already sold out of their Turkey tips. Seems like their wall hung newspaper clipping reviews also recommended those tips. Anyway, a couple eating there was enjoying the Turkey ribs and voiced their recommendation for it. I detoured and saw the turkey leg was available for Friday only, so today was my lucky day. Overall it was big as a Turkey leg is but it was really moist and fell off the bone good. I forgot to ask which bbq sauce he gave me, but it was good as well. Onion rings were good as well as they weren’t soggy. Other than my eyes being bigger than my stomach, now I have something for breakfast Hopefully I can find some time to come back and try those tips or ribs.

I’m giving this place 5⁄5 because I went in feeling kind of grumpy and judgey about the the whole no pork and no beef thing. But I left totally convinced that they don’t need to change a thing! It being our first time, hubby and I shared the sampler in order to get a taste of as many things as possible. Chicken wings, Turkey Ribs, Turkey Rib Tips, steak fries and sweet potato fries. My favorite was definitely the wings! The rub had the perfect amount of flavor and the skin had developed a nice bit of crisp and chew. My hubby’s favorite were the Turkey Ribs — they definitely have a lot more meat on them than most pork ribs I’ve seen, so two alone are decently filling. I was also pretty crazy about the Rib Tips. They had an incredibly deep smoke line and their texture had actually become quite similar to brisket! I have to say that both fries had no seasoning. We ate outside on their patio and didn’t see and salt and pepper. So I tried dipping them in their BBQ sauce. But this sauce a a very sweet and Apple-like flavor that just wasn’t for me. Thank goodness none of the meats needed a sauce! I’d probably get the sweet potato fries again, because they were the better of the two. I will also mention that not only were the rubs on everything absolutely delicious(pretty sure nothing had been treated with a sauce or mop of any kind) they also weren’t sweet. So while they didn’t have that caramalized bark I’ve come to expect, the rub definitely held its own! We will be back!

Waited over 1 hour for our food. We ordered everything at once and they brought my food out first. The rest didn’t come for another ½ hour. Good food but not worth the wait.

Love me some Gobble Stop Smokehouse! Fabulous food and great prices as well. The chicken wings and turkey ribs were smoked well and were very tender. Love their dry spice rub. Provided just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the taste of the meat. Sauce is smoky and sweet with just a hint of heat… Great for dipping.

The taste of this food better be off the hook cause seriously at lunch time we’ve already been waiting over 20 minutes for two sandwiches. This is absurd even by Midwestern we are in no hurry cause we have no lives standards.

Awesome place to eat. Seen reviews on Unilocal and had to try for myself and great choice. Everything we had was awesome. We are here for soccer and wanted to try something we can’t get at home. Great choice!

I visited Gobble Stop Smokehouse with my family after my graduation and absolutely loved it. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gave me a free desert when they heard I had just graduated. I had a pulled chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun-the bread, meat, and sauce were some of the best I had tasted. I also tried the turkey ribs, which I hadn’t heard of before, and they were wonderful as well. I highly recommend this restaurant-unique, delicious, and every kind of turkey and chicken BBQ imaginable!

Turkey ribs… WHAT? Da Bomb! Tender breast meat that you will love. Please do not pass this place because it is small and does not look impressive at first glance. You will miss a great meal. I promise. The greens were tender, flavorful and delicious. Bake beans: slap yo’ ma’ma! I didn’t have it myself, but one guy talked so high about the fried corn that another friend got it and also was smiling like he ate that ear of corn sideways. ½ chicken sauce on the side was nicely smoked and tender throughout. Now the best part of the night, the family that owns the place made use feel like we were at their home. Thank you Gobble Stop.

I’ve never had turkey ribs before so I decided to try them. My mom and I both agreed that the turkey ribs were probably the best food we’ve ever eaten. This place is amazing and the sides are even great — perfectly seasoned. Absolute best meal I’ve ever had!

Had a taste for sum Que, so I stopped in to give then a try. The guy that took our order was friendly and welcomed us since it was our first time. Unfortunately for me, they had ran out of turkey legs and tips so I settled for the smoked wings, onion rings & potato salad, my son chose wings & fries. You can choose which sauce you want on them or have it on the side. We stuck with the«sweet & smoky» I had my wings covered, whereas my son went with the sauce on the side. They were soooo good naked and even better with the sauce! The only problem… they were drummies and NOT whole wings. The onion rings weren’t all that good and the potato salad was whipped up but missing that special ingredient(sugar) All and all I was satisfied and will be back for those turkey legs. Next time I’ll go early and call ahead.

Well… I wish we had an opportunity to eat this delicious food that I’ve heard so much about… NOT! My boys and I wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day at a different spot, including with my mom. I saw all the wonderful reviews about this place and thought it was a great choice. I called to confirm they were open, but no one answered the phone. When we get here, there was 1 table available, and it wasn’t extremely busy. We placed the order around 4:15pm CST. As time progressed, we noticed others were coming in after us and getting their food. Around 4:45 or so I went up to the counter. The gentleman who took our order said something like…“It’s good. It’s coming” — something like that. After about 15 more minutes, I decided to get our money back. When I go up to the counter to make this request… Come to find out… The gentleman hadn’t put our order in at all! It was sitting up on the back counter! Sigh! I paid with a debit/credit card. They didn’t know how to give me the refund or void the charge! It took 3 of them and a phone call to some 800# and 10 minutes later… it «appears» that they took care of the void! One of the ladies offered to give us some ribs for the trouble… I respectfully declined: I was too ticked at that point and just ready to leave. Maybe this is a good place… But they didn’t seem really ready for«prime-time». After all… Mother’s Day is the busiest restaurant day of the year. I’m not sure what their problem was! I haven’t decided whether or not we are going back. I don’t see how they survive lunch rushes! Our Plan B was Happy China which is right down the road from there. That was a much better choice!!!

I really love the smoked chicken wings here. I never use the sauce that comes with it because the wings are so perfectly seasoned. I’m absolutely addicted to these wings and can’t stop going on and on about them to my family and co-workers. The service is always great and I like that the place is family-owned. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table and take it all away when you’re done. They’ll ask if you want refills on your drink. I knocked off a star because their business practices aren’t the best. They advertise catering, but don’t have a catering menu of any type. The four times I’ve tried to eat there for lunch, they weren’t open on time. Since the wings take 30 minutes to make, I’ve tried to call my order in ahead of time too. Once I was able to get through to an actual person. The other times, I called several times with a minute or so break in between and ended up getting a «mailbox full» type of message. I would eat the wings from this restaurant every day for lunch if I could, but I can’t take the gamble of the place not being open and/or using my entire lunch break just waiting for my food. I recommend going in during dinner when you have the time to wait for your food. Trust me when I say it’s well worth the wait – when you’ve got the time to spare.

I came here on a lunch break during a work training, so we were limited on time. We didn’t anticipate there being so many people during lunch on a weekday. We had to wait a bit for our orders to come out, so some of us had to start eating before everyone got their food so we could make it back in time. I ordered the turkey ribs and fried green beans. Both were delicious! The ribs were flavorful and smokey. I didn’t finish them all and my sister ate the leftovers later and liked them. Also, the fried green beans were perfectly crispy and seasoned well(they’re no longer healthy, but oh well). It was a great meal! Oh, and I should mention that I suggested this place to my coworkers because of the numerous positive reviews. We weren’t disappointed!

It was Easter Sunday and we were walking the dogs and coming back up our street there in the air was the unmistakable smell of seared beef. Someone in the hood was barbecuing. Somewhere in the primitive recesses of my brain that delicious smell haunted me all day. At about 4:30PM I finally decided to give in to it, and decided to get some barbecue for dinner. I got on Unilocal and did a search of barbecue places and among the dozen or so places that popped up was Gobble Stop Smokehouse. I read the reviews and noted that this place specializes in smoked chicken and turkey — no red meat. They must have been talking to my doctor who advised me a few years ago, to cut back on the red meat for the sake of my colon. Doc would be proud of me as I decided to forsake my beloved beef and pork and give chicken and turkey a try for a change. Many of the reviews suggested if you’re doing carry-out to call ahead. That’s what I did after checking out their menu. I ordered the turkey ribs and chicken wings with onion rings and mashed potato salad as the sides. The man who took my order said it would be about 25 minutes. I live about 20 minutes away so I killed a few minutes letting my wife know what I was doing for dinner and then headed to Creve Coeur. I’m familiar with the shopping center where Gobble Stop Smokehouse is located. Years ago I occasionally shot pool at the Pink Galleon, which is just a few doors down from GSS. As I pulled into a parking space I saw a white car with really dark tinted windows pull up in front of GSS and park, like they either owned the place, or had a cousin on the police force. The yellow curb was clearly marked«no parking.» I uttered a silent lament that our public school system had failed the occupants of this car, as they clearly couldn’t read, or simply felt an unwarranted sense of entitlement, making them feel they were among a privileged class for which rules do not apply. As I approached the vehicle I heard loud rap music coming from within. Although I am in my upper 60’s, I quickened my step so I would get inside before the people in the car emerged. It was a good thing. Two large loud women followed behind me. As I approached the counter and gave my name for my order, they proceeded to analyze the menu and had many questions to submit to the owner. I was so thankful I had made it to the counter before them. Their ordering process was still going on as I paid and took my order, which I amended slightly by adding a dessert. I picked out a sinfully looking treat labeled«turtle gooey butter cake.» It was about 5 inches in diameter. Was it worth $ 5? Probably if you have a sweet tooth like my wife and I do. When I got home we divided up the food so we each could sample some of everything. The turkey ribs and chicken wings were great. My wife liked the mashed potato salad a little better than I did. For me, it was okay, not spectacular but okay. The turkey and wings however were good enough that we will return and get them again some time soon. The onion rings were decent — I’ve had better elsewhere, but they were okay. The total bill with the dessert was $ 22.00. The turtle gooey butter cake was as delicious as it looked. I didn’t tell my wife how much it cost — she might have thought $ 5 was too much since a couple weeks ago I brought home a cinnamon roll from the Old Fashioned Donut Shop in Florissant that was the size of her face for less than half that cost. I would recommend Gobble Stop Smokehouse. It is a small«hole in the wall» joint, with just a few tables and they cook to order, so expect a wait if you don’t call ahead.

We’ve been driving by this small restaurant for a while whenever we get our usual St. Louis Bubble Tea fix. Never thought of trying it because we already had a favorite rib joint. But I saw this on my Unilocal feed and didn’t know they served Turkey ribs. And I’m glad we did, the reviews are right, the Turkey Ribs are tender and flavorful! Comparable if not better than pork ribs. Pros Very flavorful food, easy parking Cons Service is a bit slow because food is made to order, limited seating Tip Try to call them(314) 878‑5586 and order your food, so you won’t have to wait long

So what the hell is a turkey tip, Turkeys don’t have tips… as in rib tips like other animals?!! Well, I still don’t know how they do it, but Gobblestop does like James Brown and the JB“s «Make it Funky!!!» Turkey tips 4⁄5: The meat was on pointe; mos defly turkey but somehow in a shape I haven’t seen from a turkey b4 lol if that makes sense. Anyhow it was hot fresh and oh so 4sho flavorful. If you’re not familiar with Creve Coeur area, you might want to use the GPS because you will miss this place because it’s tucked away in a strip mall. Get up and get you some Gobblestop in your life

Have you not heard, it was my understanding that everyone had heard… So Gobble Stop is quite possibly some of the best bbq of the avian variety I have had. They serve up a wide variety of both chicken and turkey entrees ranging from a simple turkey burger, turkey ribs, or even a their take on chicken wings. Simply put you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu here, however I tend to stick with either their Turkey Ribs, Rib Tibs, or the Flew the Coop Burger. The ribs here are excellent and smoked perfectly. The Flew the Coop Burger is a unique monster of a creation, it consist of a turkey burger topped with a grilled chicken breast, topped with cheese and served on a pretzel bun. Now the turkey burger itself is possibly one of the best I have had however you will be surprised how well the chicken and turkey burger go together, however be advised it’s a bit of a mess but well worth it. The sides here are great, even though I can only bring myself to get the premium sides every visit. I highly recommend the Sweet Potato Fries or the amazing Fried Green Beans, this is how green beans were made to be eaten, they have a delicious crispy and are perfectly seasoned. Service here is excellent, however I have to not that because everything here is made to order time is not always on your side. My recommendation is to call ahead if you are in a hurry because you could end up being in for a long wait if a large order is placed before yours. So be warned and plan accordingly. Seating inside is limited to five tables each seating four people, so there is a have focus on carry out, if the weather is nice you could also take advantage of several small tables out front however your view will be less than spectacular as you observe the parking lot. Overall Gobble Stop is a must visit for bbq lovers looking for a change of pace, or those that just love chicken and turkey. If you are in the area its worth stopping and checking out, but be advised that they are closed on Saturday but open on Sundays.

If you don’t like great, honest barbecue from great, honest folks, then don’t come here. The place is tucked away in an unassuming plaza behind Seeger Toyota on Olive. Believe me, it is worth the trip! This is my third time coming, but the first time for dinner… and my calculations proved correct! Gobble Stop is absolutely the spot to be at if you have that craving for some fresh, made-to-order chicken and turkey! There is a little bit of a wait due to every dish made-to-order(~20−30 minutes), but it is truly worth it. I strolled in on a Friday night at 730p on mid-November and they were packed. Plus, the family, including the mother, was in there! Let’s get to the real deal… that’s the rub and the sauce! My goodness, it’s not spicy, not salty, and the right amount of ‘smoke’. Gobble Stop has honed it’s craft and made itself an instant classic. Don’t take my word for it… make that to-go order call or dine-in(it’s more of a lunch setting) If you’re looking for one of the top spots in the Lou for Q.

Traveling from CT to St. Louis I was looking for some BBQ places near my hotel in the Westport area. I searched on Unilocal and found this place and boy was the star rating right! I ordered the wings with a sweet and spicy glaze, turkey ribs with the smokey sauce, fried green beans and onion rings and my BBQ brain was blown. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions(we don’t have stellar BBQ with different sauce options in CT, so I really relied on them). The meat was tender and so flavorful. The beans and rings were crispy and delightful. Yummmmm!

The best Turkey Place in town. Even if turkey is not at the top of your list for favorite foods. it will be when you leave here. I have tasted the Smoked Wings. Turkey Ribs… Fried Turkey Meatballs. and The Smoked Turkey Tenderloin Sandwich… yumm yumm to everything. The meat is seasoned and smoked to perfection. And the mustard sauce on the Tenderloin Sandwich sealed the deal for me… I will be trying The Fried Turkey Sandwich on my next visit. The staff is very friendly and if there is a wait it’s worth it!

If chicken is your thing, you need to pay this place a visit. It’s a BBQ joint that focuses on smoked turkey and chicken. I had heard about their smoked wings before my visit. IMO smoked wings are much better than the typical fried variety. The meat’s flavor isn’t lost and if done right, the smoke adds a distinctly unique twist. Gobble STOP’s wings were good, meaty, with a touch of smoke. I still think the best smoked wings in STL are at Shaved Duck… but if you’re out this way, and want some wings at an affordable price, check this place out.

Turkey barbeque is what this place does. If you ever watched the movie«Forrest Gump» you may understand how Forrest felt when Bubba told him how many ways to cook shrimp when you come here. Turkey about everyway you can BBQ. I ordered the chicken ribs. We all know a chicken has no rib that is possible to eat. They take the top part of the breast and leave some meat on the bone. My rib was served with a sweet and spicy glaze. The glaze was really good. My side was whipped potato salad. I love whipped potato salad and it was the star of my lunch. This is a small place that does a huge lunch business. My big take away is if you want to do lunch get here early it opens at 11am get here by 11:15 and you will be able to find a table.

GREAT every. single. time. *Edit: A new sign went up just after this review.* This is small restaurant in a strip mall with a sign that is really a tarp. Know what? ! Doesn’t matter an inch. The food is where the quality is and I am not alone who thinks so. Besides the awesome Unilocal reviews they recently won editor’s choice in «The A-List» St. Louis magazine. As a person in IT, I even appreciated their website was more modern than higher tiered restaurants. They simply have their business together, minus one sign. :) Food: GREAT turkey ribs with zero grizzled fat on it. There are 3 huge meaty ribs and comes with a side. The bbq sauces are really good. Sweet and smokey is my favorite. The steak fries are really good. My husband loves the chicken here. The pulled chicken sandwich is his favorit, and everyone elses according to everyone I ever talked to about it. I have not had the wings but I hear they are really good. They have some awards for wings on the wall. 5 tables in the restaurant total. The restaurant is not made for a large group. They have a few outdoor tables. I would call in your order because they are so busy lately with the 2TV promos they had over the weekend. TLDR: You can’t go wrong with the turkey ribs and the pulled chicken sandwich! Hard to find something that is not awesome here! They sell out! Call in your order.

When you first enter here you may say to yourself, «Where’s the beef? Where’s the pork?» What you need to do is stop and think. What is the name of this BBQ joint? It’s Gobble Stop Smokehouse and it is, «Where Bird is the Word». Which means their specialty is chicken and turkey. It’s a specialty that they truly have mastered. So you’ll soon forget that they do not offer beef brisket or pulled pork. I would have never discovered GSS if it were not for Brian M. organizing a UYE lunch. To my surprise it is just down the street from my dogs vet, so I know I will be visiting again and again. Now I will be requesting appointments near lunchtime, instead of the early morning. My lunch was the Smoked Chicken Wings and they were Gobble-icious. They were served drummette style and seasoned with their signature herbs and spices. They may have been slowly smoked, but I gobbled them up fast. I had the sauce served on the side, but was totally satisfied with the signature rub. As my side, I choose Green Beans which had pieces of ham. They were the perfect accompaniment to BBQ as they would be a Sunday fried chicken. I couldn’t enjoy a new BBQ place without taking some home for the other half who was working in the yard. A Half Smoked Chicken with two sides would be the perfect reward. As his sides, I choose Cole Slaw and Potato Salad. He was so impressed with their Smoked Chicken, that he wants to check out their fried chicken in the near future. If you are in a hurry, I suggest calling ahead and ordering. The service is friendly, but is on the slow side of Southern Hospitality.

I couldn’t make the UYE based on scheduling conflicts but I did manage to make it in the very next day… and I’m glad I did! My coworker is not a fan of smoked yard bird but we got a look at them when we were deciding what to order so we both opted for them when we ordered. I went for the fried green beans as my side. My coworker who went with me had the same entrée and the potato salad. There was an error with my order and it arrived with potato salad in place of the green beans which they told me to try while they corrected my order. Absolutely delicious! Big, smoky flavor. Great rub with a hit of sweetness and a hint of spice. Perfectly cooked with the skin mid-way between chewy and crisp. Also, served hot and in a large enough portion that I had a hard time deciding if I would finish. I will certainly be back…
