Arrived for breakfast only to get an unfriendly welcome and shells in my scrambled eggs. Beautiful location

If you’re looking for the Hilton keep moving but this place is rustic, original, old school, historic. Jo Jo at the bar is the best bartender in the sierras. The breakfasts and prime rib dinners are the bomb, haven’t had many lunch items but they have to be just as good.

Not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely not bad. It’s one of those great«mom and pop» places, kind of like the hidden gem that only locals know about. My husband and I went there for breakfast twice with our son and had the same waitress both times. She was super sweet, had a cute accent that neither of is could pick out, but one of the other waitresses was a bit short with us and a little on the rude side. The home fries were AMAZING and the breakfast tacos were surprisingly good, even if they were a bit on the small side. My husband also said his meal was pretty good, wasn’t anything special but not too bad either. I also came here with my parents and son for dinner and a different waitress was there that night. I wish I could remember her name because she was beyond sweet with my son! He knocked over my drink TWICE and I was so embarrassed and kept apologizing but she was so calm and told me to not worry about it because that’s just what babies do. She was amazing! My only complaint really would be the one waitress being rude. The food is pretty tasty, the staff tends to be really nice, and we’re definitely going back!

Friend said«Ok Place«to stay he was Generous! Room was a Shack with no Power Outlets-forget about a Tv and the Bathroom floor was falling apart had a Rubber mat over it… I Unplugged the shower head myself in the Concrete Mosquito Box. when we Asked about the Lack of Power outlets in the Shack we were Told we were Supposed to ask at the front desk for an Extension Cord to Plug in the Overhead Light combo Outlet the bathroom to get power. Rester aunt and food was good I Have to Say and the Service in the Kitchen. For the price of this place to Stay I’d Say Tom needs to Retire and step it up to become a Nice Place to Stay.(it was worth 30 bucks at the most Much nicer-cleaner and Tv/clean Normal Bathroom Places are nearby for $ 20 more… and cleaned Daily! There was not a Place to relax and enjoy the view in the Evening either-table in front of Shack # 22was falling apart with some kind of animal poop on it. I Travel the World and I can Honestly say I would not tell anyone that I Liked to Stay There… May bee to Eat or Drink-but not to Stay…

Okay. The bar is a bit of a dive. But what’s wrong with a friendly dive bar occasionally? The mixed drinks are STRONG, so be aware. If you’re staying in a cabin, party on! If you’re driving be aware of the heavy booze. Beer on tap and in bottles. Wine too but not so premium. Food is pretty good but not classy. Fried everything is available.(Onion rings are the BEST in the Eastern Sierra). Breakfast is plentiful and good. Love the chicken fried steak and the ham and eggs. Biscuits and gravy are the GFs fave. Give them a try. You’ll be glad you did.

Stayed here and ate at the café. I think I came out during a car show or something one. I like the vibe here and I recommend it.

After completing a great hike in Bishop, we decided to stop here on the way up to Lake Tahoe. The place was quite crowded for mid afternoon on a Saturday and had a pleasant atmosphere. We decided to split a turkey burger and fries as neither of us were too hungry and it was a bit late for lunch. The burger tasted really good… perfectly prepared and compete with some red onions which added quite a bit of flavor. The fries were just ok… but they got the job done. Overall, the service was very friendly and attentive and the place was quite relaxing. Looks like it could be a fun place for dinner or for drinks later in the evening. Give this one a shot!

There will be two parts to this review: one for the cabin/lodgings and the other for the food. Cabin: We had cabin #8 which is right in across the market/café/saloon of Tom’s Place. It is actually connected to a common area which is also connected to several other«dorm rooms,» a laundry room, and a small bathroom. We were lucky that no one had reserved the night since we were super loud and drinking in the common room that night. Think of it like a really big house. To comment on our actual«cabin,» it was a small kitchen connected to two bedrooms, one with a full bed and the other with two full beds. These two rooms each have a faucet, and are connected by a single bathroom. The shower is quite cold and takes a while to get heated up(I didn’t even need to adjust the cold knob). The kitchen also connects to the upstairs which has three full beds. We came as 7 people so this was a good choice for all of us. Upstairs can get a bit hot so I ended up sleeping with my friend downstairs. The kitchen comes pretty well stocked so you only have to worry about food and condiments. For two nights between 7 people, it was about $ 40 a person total($ 20/night/person). The beds were comfy and the cabin is great if you don’t want world class rooms. Restaurant: Prime rib. That is all. But seriously, the service was very, very friendly albeit there were usually only about three to four groups dining at a time. The prime rib special is on Saturday nights and is extremely cheap($ 12) for the amount of food you get. It was delicious. The place has a lot of personality and it shows with the décor. I liked it. As a side note, I like that there was a market here to buy beer/liquor. Beats going to Bishop to get all your drinks. Plus Tom’s Place is nearby many of the bouldering sites. Not the most comfortable place to stay at, but definitely not repulsive.

Another rustic place, well in keeping with the feel of the area– backcountry towns and lakes. Breakfast of french toast was average for a diner like this, but that means they didn’t do anything wrong, and honestly, the bacon was pretty good and the french toast not bad. My friend’s breakfast burrito was enormous. Coffee was served in large, very random mugs, and you could wander around the rest of the wood-paneled interior to the old school bar in the next room(down to the popcorn machine and the basement bathroom with narrow stairs and low ceiling), all the way into the shop the 2nd room over… Take the time to read the random sayings and facts on the walls and enjoy yourself!

During summer road trip from Santa Cruz CA back to Austin enjoyed the hearty, inexpensive, amazing chili at Tom’s Place; outdoor seating; and magnificent view.
