This place is the perfect neighborhood hangout when the right bartenders are working. Great layout, and there are billiards and sometimes live music. However, I will not step a foot in the Point if one of the bad bartenders are working… take last Friday night(March 4), for example. My friend and I sat at a high top table for about 10 minutes until we realized that we were not going to be acknowledged by the very young bartender(straight, almost shoulder-length dark hair) who was working. So I went up to the bar and ordered a draft beer for me and a vodka gimlet for my friend. The bartender flatly replied, «I don’t know what that is». She didn’t ask for a hint or say she was going to look up the recipe. So I walked back over to my friend and asked her what else she might want… she asked for a Goose Island IPA or urban pale ale. The Point only had the wheat(or what she called«the Yellow label 312 beer»). She then said any IPA would be fine. Without looking at the beer inventory(I’m sure she doesn’t know what an IPA is), she said«we don’t have that». My friend gave up on getting a drink so I chugged my beer and we headed to the square.
