Always a treat! Everyone is attentive and personable and the food is great! I’m never disappointed. Although a bit off the beaten path, very much worth the visit.

Wow! What a surprise in the middle of a subdivision in Crozet! Stopped by with friends for a cocktail and found a packed house with fun music and employees. Oysters were fresh and cold and the Shrimp Etoufee was excellent. We ordered the mussels for the table and they were delicious. Wine list was small but worthy. Manager(owner?) stopped by our table and was friendly and polite. We had a great time – we’ll be back!

Pleasant staff, yummy oysters and fries! I haven’t tried anything else on the menu but that’s enough for me. I’m happy to have a new restaurant in Crozet.

Public’s sister restaurant located in Crozet. Location is a bit odd, basically in the middle of a bunch of townhomes underneath some apartments. It was empty on a Saturday night, as was the mexican restaurant next to it. Service was prompt and friendly, but we were the only people there. The menu is similar to the original Public, but with less options. We liked the soup of the day(potato leek with cod), the burger was great, fish and chips was pretty good, and steak was good. They have the PFO pan roast dish that is carried over from the original restaurant. Their oyster list is smallish, 4 – 5 choices when we were there. Overall, it was a good experience, but certainly not worth the trip out to Crozet if you’re in Cville. But if you live out here its a good option.

Love Public downtown and really love the idea of Public West — if only they could get their service act together. Bringing the wrong drinks and forgetting others. Same with the food. Everyone is very friendly, but it’s frustrating not knowing if someone is really coming with your drinks and/or dinner. I’ve been there several times, and will try again, if just for the great oyster menu. Update: We went back to Public West with the family for early New Year’s Eve dinner — mostly for the oysters. The staff was, as usual, delightful and friendly — especially helpful with the two children in our group. The food and drink service was on time and always correct. The oysters were terrific, as were the mussels and other menu choices. We’re so glad we came back!

Not thrilled with the food and the drinks are way to over priced. The bartender measures the liquor so there’s no over pouring. I try to not go to bars where the bartenders are that anal.

A couple of friends and I headed to happy hour at Public West this past Friday. They have some great happy hour specials from 4:30 — 6:30pm – oysters for $ 1.25, $ 2 off of drafts, and three selections of wine for $ 6/glass. I love that they have local options for both their oysters and alcohol. When we arrived, the place was pretty quiet, but as it grew later into the evening, there weren’t any open tables left. The service started out pretty great when we first arrived. They had five or six different options for oysters, and they organize their board from least briny to most. We went with the Fire Lakes and local Nandua oysters. They were both very fresh and high quality oysters. I will definitely return again for oysters, especially during happy hour! We also tried their frites had the perfect crisp came with aioli. We really enjoyed these as well. Another friend joined us, and our server didn’t make his way back to our table. She ended up getting up and asking another server, who turned out to be the manager to order a drink. The server still didn’t return and the manager forgot to get her drink for about half an hour. The service that started out so great, really went down hill as soon as they got busy. Maybe the staff is a little green and that’s why this happened, but it really took away from our experience. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, wine offerings, and happy hour specials. Service can be hit or miss depending on who your server is, but I like having the whole package when I dine out.
