Good portions for your money. Place could use a little updating. Husband was very happy with his hot dog combo. I had BBQ and it was good. We both had fries but could have split one order.

I really liked the crispy, well-made french fries, and my hot dogs came in soft, tasty buns, with lots of tasty toppings. But the actual hot dogs themselves were kinda meh — not much flavor or texture to them. I’m curious to try the burgers, though, and I was impressed both by the prompt and courteous service I got, and the clean and well-tended dining area.

About a 2 – 2.5: Sam’s Hot Dog Stand is a franchise that started out in Huntington, WV. The owner, Frank Lucente, founded the original recipe from an elderly woman that lived in his town and have been serving with his dog ever since. As the hubs and I were in the area, we decided to give this hot dog place a try. The menu offers build-your-own dogs, Chicago Style, pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, mini corn dogs, nuggets, sides(french fries, onion rings, potato chips, etc.), and drinks. We tried their popular chili cheese slaw dog(all their hot dogs are all-beef) with a drink. The dog itself was more on the underwhelming side, as the slaw was really watery and had no flavor(not sweet or tangy); it sat on top of a mound of chili that had minced ground meat, which also had no flavor to it. I wasn’t really a fan of the hot dog, either, as it didn’t taste anything like beef; we actually ended up throwing it away after a couple of bites. The place was empty when we came in, and the service was pretty quiet and stiff. It’s not a stand, but part of a small plaza off of Notch’d Road. I am curious in trying out their original location out in Huntington, but won’t be back to this particular one! +watery slaw T___T +un-savory chili T___T +underwhelming dogs T____T +part of the plaza off of Notch’d Road

Good hot dogs with tasty chili. They have excellent french fries– just crispy enough. Reasonably priced and courteous and quick service, I have been there several times and it is always super clean.

Stopped at the Crozet VA store on 10−11−14. Didn’t expect much due to the remote area. I grew up in Chicago… they had a Chicago style hot dog on the menu… I was skeptical… however, it was as good as anything I ever had there!.. Service was great, prices reasonable… place was clean. The other people had dogs with Vidalia relish and said they were great!

Great for a quick bite. Just a regular hot dog. You get all kinds of toppings to choose from. I mean, hotdog is just a hotdog. If you’re looking for something amazing, you have to go to New York or Philadelphia. But for this little town, if you’re looking for a hotdog… You’ll get it here!
