Awesome double burgers and fries. Wife loves the onion rings. Super super friendly and quick staff. Great option in Festus! Only short on seats. Can’t wait to try the breakast.

On here posting for another company I recommended and seen Gordon’s pop up for review. I have been there multiple time and it is a great little greasy spoon.

The food is good, they have a great steak burger and i recommend the onion rings. But only like 15 seats at the bar of the diner. But i usually order at the take out window and eat in the car anyway.

After feeling under the weather for nearly an entire week, I asked my husband to surprise me for lunch this past Sunday – and a surprise is what I received. We took a 45-minute drive from St. Louis to Crystal City to have lunch at Gordon’s Stoplight Drive-In, a place neither of us had ever visited. Gordon’s is a tiny little place. Because I had been completely in the dark regarding our destination, I did not even realize we’d arrived when we pulled up to the small building at the corner of Truman Blvd. and Bailey Rd. Inside you’ll find only counter seating is available(i.e., no tables or booths), and as you might expect, seating is limited. The barstools weren’t completely occupied on that Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, but a steady flow of customers came and went during our visit. The menu is simple and classically American. Breakfast, served until 10:30, includes the traditional eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The remaining menu consists of diner items like hamburgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and sides. I ordered a single burger with fries, and I watched the entire process right in front of me. My burger was flattened until it was thin and crispy, in the style of Steak ‘n Shake. It then went straight from the grill and onto the grilled bun on my plate. My fries were cooked just for me, and when they were perfectly golden, they also went straight to my plate. Needless to say, everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The employees seemed to be very hard-working and efficient. Our waitress was friendly and was constantly keeping busy. My one major complaint is that this is a Pepsi place. I can’t stand Diet Pepsi, but I liked the food so much that I’m not even going to deduct a star. ;) Note: Credit cards are not accepted here. Play it safe. Bring cash.

It’s like stepping back into the past in a great way! Watch your burger being created while sitting at the diner like bar. Great burgers and fries and awesome people! You must stop in for some old time hospitality and yummy food… definitely a place you must try.

Old timey café place my daughter spotted driving and really wanted to try and I’m so glad we did! Food is made to order, fresh home made burgers that are probably the best I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be going back!

Perfectly simple! Fresh, affordable. If you’re looking for a REAL burger, but don’t want to grill it yourself, then this is your place. Friendly service as well! Their chili is homemade as well, I can’t wait to give it a try!

We stopped here on the way back home and it is a neat little joint! The food was made right in front of you and was very good! If you are looking for a good burger fries hot dog or chili then this is the place to go. It’s greasy and just what I have been craving! *** they only take cash But they have an ATM in the building***

I moved to the area about 3 months ago, I had heard that Gordon’s was a good place for burgers, and I passed by it regularly. I decided to try it the other day, and I am so glad I did. It truly IS one of the best places for burgers! there are no tables, its counter seating only and on a first come first serve basis, they have a few tables outside and walk up window for to go orders if you don’t want to go inside. I ordered a big burger with a side of onion rings, and while the burger was awesome, they were a little skimpy on the onion rings, I had 4 rings on my plate. I still fully enjoyed my meal and even bought a t-shirt on the way out. really want to get back here and try the breakfast menu next, because I know I will be coming back for another burger often…

The cheeseburger with fries was spot on! The price was right and the atmosphere pleasant! I would say this is a must if you are craving a burger. If you are a meat lover get the double. My single party was perfect for me but once the patties are smashed on the grill they get thin.

I drive 40 minutes each way with the family for a Gordon’s Stop Light. My teenage boys go for the quadzilla with cheese and fries. It has become their own version of man vs food. The burgers are well seasoned and the edges are crispy. trademark of a good pressed burger. Seeing the other reviews I’m going to get the grilled onions on my double cheese tomorrow for lunch.(I did and it was spectacular.) The fries are thin so if you want crinkle, steak, waffle, etc you ain’t getting them here. The last time we brought one of my kids’ friends and he was going to order a BLT. The manager behind the counter turned around and said the rest of the menu is because they had to fill up the space, you come to Gordon’s for the burgers. Brandon had to admit his triple bacon cheeseburger was the best burger he had ever eaten. The cole slaw is made with a sweet Italian dressing. If you’re familiar with Imo’s dressing you’re familiar with this slaw. If you want a classic pressed burger, dripping with cheesy grease, and served by some really friendly folks… go to Gordon’s. If you want sushi… never mind. 1 more thing… CASHONLY

Great authentic small-town diner! Sit right at the bar and order cheap and tasty, not-quite-healthy-but-that’s-not-the-point fare. I had the Quadzilla meal, which is a quadruple-patty burger, fries and drink. The burgers are smashed thin, like Steak ‘N Shake, but seemed to be a bit more tasty. I ordered mine with cheese, pickle and grilled onion, and it was great. The fries were thin and crispy, and the service was friendly. You can tell it’s been there a while – apparently since 1948. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in town and looking for a real diner burger.(The chili dogs looked good too, and they also do breakfast, but only until 10am).

Great diner burgers are fresh cooked, but I always walk away thinking that I spent too much. Burgers & the sitting @ the counter experiencing the true busy diner are the draws. The burgers patties are tastily fried well-done thin style(think improved Steak N Shake). I always want to order doubles or triples so it is never cheap. The lettuce offered is just iceberg, but fresh. There are signs offering some specialty burgers around the diner not on the menu, but not huge selections. The fries were standard smaller cut fries that were pretty good because of being fresh. I became a big spender(on a friends dime) & got a $ 3.29 pineapple shake. It was kinda fun watching the cute staff hand-make shakes. I was disappointed in the size for $ 3.29. It was a good, but not great shake. They do offer the St Louis style slinger(meat, hash-browns & eggs covered with chili).

Excellent small town diner. Limited seating in dining area… just a dozen low bar stools at the counter. Food cooked right in front of you. Friendly hard-working staff both at the counters and on the grill. Popular(especially with the locals) especially for an early evening/late afternoon. Lots of walk-up business too. My «big burger» was delicious. The double cheeseburger with grilled onions I had next was even better. The toasted buns were a nice touch to prevent sogginess from the juicy patties. My kids enjoyed the real hand-dipped shakes for dessert. Food prices were entirely reasonable. Soda prices were ridiculous(~$ 2),(but I don’t drink soda, so no penalty for that).

This is a good place to buy a good old fashion burger cooked right in front of you. It will also come with the warm hospitality that most of the workers here seem to have. Great place but bring cash it’s the only down side to this place they don’t take cards.

Service was very quick. My girlfriend and I both ordered the double cheeseburger. As I waited watching our food being made I noticed how clean the place was. The food was excellent. The burger patties are quite thin. I recommend the double.

As others have said, this is cash-only, but the burgers are worth whatever extra effort that means! The burgers are the thin style that isn’t quite as common anymore, so order an extra patty or two and enjoy!

Great old school diner. All counter seating. Packed when we went in. Staff was great. Attentive and friendly. Food was very good diner style. Burgers were great. Will stop in any time I’m in the area. Food was fast too! Lots of walk up business at the serving window outside as well. One thing, cash or check only!!! Keep that in mind.
