Nice nurses but that where the positive part of my experience here ended. After a year of trying to get pregnant with no success, I was referred here by my ObGyn. After the nurse took a 30 second peek with an ultrasound, I was«diagnosed» with PCOS. Dr. Karande came in and in 5 seconds said, «Yep, that’s what it is. Get dressed and meet in my office,» and was gone again. He was hurried and seemed upset with my asking questions after being handed a packet of papers on this diagnosis I’d never heard of before, and told me I would never get pregnant on my own and it was time for(expensive) IUI which only has a small success rate for people with PCOS and then probably IVF. After much persistence from me that he explain further and answer some questions instead of saying«read the packet, it’s just all in the packet,» he read me a list of symptoms,(from the packet,) that he was sure I had based on his 30 second peek at the ultrasound, and even after I told him I suffered ZERO of those symptoms,(the packet said you needed 3 or more to be diagnosed with PCOS,) he persisted he was correct and rushed me out of his office with instructions to call after my next period. Oh, and they tried to sell me on an expensive Jenny Craig style diet plan! Can you believe that?!? It was essentially the Atkins diet for $ 100/week, with a hefty chunk of that $ I’m sure landing right in their pockets. I did a lot of research on my own, started a low carb diet on my own that week and spoke with my ObGyn shortly after this visit and was told it was crazy and she was certain I did not have PCOS. I never got that next period anyways, as I ended up getting pregnant naturally the next month,(they do say when you stop trying is when it happens, and lo and behold!) and although we unfortunately suffered a loss at 6 weeks, have been NATURALLY pregnant twice since my visit with Dr. Karande, no thanks to him, and I’m currently 5 months pregnant expecting our first baby boy this winter. A miracle, considering this«doctor» told me it was IMPOSSIBLE to get pregnant without paying all that money to have them do it for me. I’ll also mention that after leaving that day, I have not once been contacted by the office, which was also quite off-putting after a diagnosis like that. Dr. Karande’s bedside manner is atrocious and it was obvious to me that this place is all about the $$$. If your insurance allows it, FINDSOMEWHEREELSE!!!
