Had standard breakfast, eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries. Dish served Luke warm,(nothing worse than room temp eggs!). Home fries were hard as a rock and bland. Coffee was good,(and hot), service excellent.

This is listed as AJ’s but the name is Sarah’s. Great food, great service, and great prices! Good place for breakfast or lunch. We stumbled on it and went back for breakfast.

Not the best place to come in when you don’t want fried food. Sweet potato fries are good and so is the tuna melt

Super disappointing. With all the good reviews on here I was hoping for a good greasy spoon breakfast joint instead I got over cooked eggs, cold soggy potatoes, limp bacon, and poor sevice.

Food was good and fairly priced. Went at 9am on a Friday and it was very busy so service was not as good as hoped.

I am not sure where all the good reviews came from. My experience was totally different. The place needed a good cleaning. Our table and condiments(ketchup, salt and pepper) were filthy. I ordered biscuits and gravey and my husband ordered pork tenderloin. The gravy had way too much pepper in and scarce sausage, and the biscuits were hard as a rock. Even with the gravey on top. My husband said his sandwich was just ok. Could have been cooked longer. Don’t stop here go in town further.

I normally don’t take the time to immediately write a post but I did after coming here and enjoying a great breakfast! After reading some of the reviews on Unilocal me and my boyfriend decided to stop in and check it out. We’ve traveled from Miami to enjoy a nice tour of the river and swim with the manatees. Which I must say is a MUSTDO!, and so naturally worked up an appetite. We came in and ordered French toast, meatloaf sandwich and a steak and eggs combo. Every plate that came out was well cooked as ordered, tasted great and most importantly we got GREAT service! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and even took a grilled cheese sandwich to go. The atmosphere is casual and seems to be a great location for locals as it was completely packed for the entire time we were there. Overall great service, quality of food was great and we would definitely come back if we are to be around the area.

This is a local owned and operated restraunt. Easy to get to, ample parking, lots of seating, clean more modern restrooms, lots a variety on the menu. The facility is older but very well maintained. Expect the little things that make dining pleasurable here to be right, even down to the bendy straws that are so much easier for kids and grand folks. Food. If you are dropping by, just pick what you normally like, you won’t be disappointed. The normals and expected are here and even have the breakfast skillets. I never know what I want for breakfast when I’m really hungry, so this is my first choice in the area. Biscuits are mentioned as being really good, and they are, along with the pancakes too. Note — they do not have flavored syrups. No worries on this. The locals know where this one rates, if you are traveling, it won’t disappoint.

Delicious! We had the egg wrap and vegi omelet with hash brown sides. The wrap was huge and very tasty and the biscuit served with the omelet was so buttery and delicious! Huge portions for the price!

This is the best breakfast and lunch café in Citrus County! Eggs Benedict is to die for and deep fried home fries wow. Biscuits and gravy, omelets are nice and fluffy, chicken fried steak for breakfast and lunch. All for the price is right!

Returning from our long week-end in Cedar Key, it was time for lunch. Man did we get u my when we pulled into AJs. We had no idea what to expect from this immaculate diner. Walking in there was a sign written in chalk saying fried baloney sandwich. I am typically not a baloney kind of gal, but growing up my gram made fried baloney and onion sammies, so good! I am already happy and expect ant, but I look over the menu anyway. Many were typical dinner fare, but some went much further. Then I spied fried green tomatoes… okay I am inwardly drooling. Our very nice server took our order and to my dismay the fried baloney sandwich just came with mustard. We discussed this fried baloney sandwich, I wanted sautéed onions and mayo on whole wheat with a side of fried green tomatoes. The sandwich arrived & I was a kid again, it was so good, as we’re the fried green tomatoes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and none of us had room for dessert. We had everything from breakfast to a turkey dinner. What a great way to end a long week-end with friends. What’s a girl to do? Keep those good childhood memories alive and relive whenever possible.

Have eaten lunch there twice. It is a well run café, everyone is pleasant and AJ makes even the non-locals feel local. Excellent price for the portions served and you can tell that they care about the quality of food they put out! Had the liver and onions and it was almost as good as moms, and the meatloaf sandwich was excellent also. Will definitely eat here again when I work down here in Crystal River!

WOW! Talk about a well run restaurant! Maybe it’s because I have had a bad run of horrible service recently, that at I was so impressed with this place. One word. Care. Every employee seemed to care. I have been to $ 500 dinners but if the waiter doesn’t care then its not a perfect meal. Loved that the owner was there on a Sunday morning, working hard. Will definitely be going back on the next trip over to Crystal River.

When we pulled into the parking lot at 7:30 am and people were starting to flock in, I knew this was going to be a good breakfast. This review is only for that«one time at breakfast,» but I hope to visit again the next time we are in town. :) Filled with locals, there doesn’t seem to be anything super exciting about this little diner… and certainly nothing extraordinary. Just a good breakfast, well done. Service was very nice and fast, my egg over easy was perfect, the corn beef hash was the way I personally like it: mushy in the middle and crispy on each side. Add a dash of tabasco and it definitely hit the spot. I’ll do a double order next time. The tomatoes were a little sad… but not a huge deal. The coffee kept coming and we were filled up just enough to start our scalloping adventure.

On our way through town we decided to stop for lunch. This place was near the busy intersection of HWY19&HWY44. Lots of parking. We walked in and they were very busy. The hostess asked us to wait while she found a table for 5. The owner came over immediately and sat us when he saw us waiting. Our waitress was very friendly and quick to serve us. The menu had the basic home cooking meals on it. The lunch menu had everything for under 6.00! 3 of us had the chicken & dumplings for 4.99. All 3 of us concurred they were very good. My daughter had the kids chicken strips, made with real chicken. My other daughter had breakfast and said they were the best pancakes she has ever had. Also the soda was fresh and carbonated just right! The owner came back over and visited with us for a bit. We were in and out of there in 45 minutes. I will definitely eat here again. Real food and great service.

Wow, an omelette that isn’t overcooked or runny! Had the spinach omelette and couldn’t have been happier! Texture was so spot-on right that I was actually surprised. Yeah, by an omelette. Go figure. Had a swirled look to it as if the cook stirred boiling water and tossed in the omelette mixture. Who knows, maybe so, maybe that’s how he got the eggs fully cooked without drying them out. Don’t know, don’t care, all I can say is, after eating so many mediocre omelets at so many breakfast places it was a genuine treat to eat this at AJ’s and regain my thought that somebody must be able to properly cook a delicious omelette. Will I be back when I ride up from South Fla to visit family? Absolutely. Uh oh, grab the helmet, ’cause I hear asphalt & omelets calling me!

We were looking for a place to have breakfast/brunch after«swimming» with the manatees in Crystal River and found this place. It was a little weird to get to, off the strip of the main road(né suncoast blvd). It was very busy but we were still able to get booth seating. The hostess seated us right away and the waitress took our order as soon as we were ready. They have a separate breakfast and lunch menu, but you can still order what you want whatever time you get there, but i think the price will change. We started with the biscuits and gravy, which was delicious. The biscuits were perfectly cooked and they were very generous with the gravy, which was also perfectly flavored /seasoned. We also ordered the steak lunch special; i’ve had better. The steak was a little tough and lacking flavor, but eating it with the meal’s mashed potatoes and garlic bread improved the bite. Overall for the location, service and price, we would come back to AJ’s Café if we were in the area again. Our total bill came to about $ 22
