This is hands down my favorite south indian restaurant in California. The Rasam is amazing. It really opens up the senses, the spices really comes through and I can drink bowls of it. The dosas are perfectly crispy and soft at the same time. The dosa sizes are good and the masala is prefectly seasoned. I love the mysore masala dosa as the masala is spicy and for some reason the dosa stays crispy. My other must try is the rava dosa which was as good as india. The favorite on the table ws vegetable uttapam with podi. I asked them for extra crispy nd they made it perfectly. I would highly recommend the uttapam.

The appetizers and dosas are good but be very careful when ordering from the main menu especially the specials. They are far too hot and the wait staff was h helpful explaining the food, as well as charged for a returned meal. Customer service is seriously lacking.

First time trying this place. Was in a rush so ordered pickup. Had the aloo paratha, veggie samosas, spinach masala dosa, paneer chilly and paratha w/korma special. Picked up and wanted to try everything while it was hot since I knowing there would be leftovers. The food was food definitely above average.

This is my first time here. Long wait! I’m a vegetarian and I prefer going to vegetarian restaurants. I had the lunch buffet! I liked the pongal, biryani and noodles! Didn’t like the rasam, sambar and dal. I liked the pineapple too. Since it’s a vegetarian restaurant I prefer giving a five star!

I am a huge foodie, vegetarian and South Indian and this is definitely one of the best south Indian restaurants in the LA area. Everything here tastes really authentic. Their Madras coffee is to die for. We had ordered an assorted appetizer platter, kotthu parotha and ghee roast. I also ordered a kothamalli masala dosa to go and had it for breakfast the next day. Everything was great, the only thing I found amusing was that the kotthu parotha had channa in it. It tasted really good but for me, that made it more like a chat. No complaints though, this was definitely really close to food from home. Overall, this place is a must go, I am getting hungry just thinking about this place!

Yummy south Indian food. I loved their buffet as well. Tasted like simple and yummy home made south Indian food. Definitely recommend this place and the prices are reasonable.

This place is delicious! I am usually deeply skeptical of Indian restaurants. A lot of places will recycle food from days ago and I question the freshness of the food put before me. In addition, a lot of Indian restaurants will put inordinate amounts of heavy cream which is not only unhealthy but makes me feel ill. The service is great as well. The waiting staff is attentive. They have unlimited sambar, coconut chutney and tomato chutney which are all very delicious. This is a haven for vegetarians and people who love fresh, South Indian food. I believe that the popularity of this place ensures that the food is FRESH. This places is also reasonably priced. Also, this place isn’t much for ambiance or décor, you really go there for food that tastes like a home cooked meal.

The food felt couple days old. We had buffet and never had such low options. I am kind of surprised they are surviving the competition. The service was horrible — water was not served and we had to get it ourselves. We were having buffet, and had to call the waiter to order dosa. And when the waiter came, he was in such a rush that he took order from 2 of us and rushed in. They were 5 people at our table. I will never go back to this place again.

Annapurna is my favorite South Indian place in West LA. Their food is fresh and tasty, and it’s a great place when you feel like grabbing a dosa. FYI, the restaurant is all vegetarian. I’m sure most of their dosas are pretty solid, but my favorite is the paper masala dosa, which is large and crispy with masala(potatoes) on the side. I also like their assortments of chutneys that accompany the dosa and the sambar is tasty and flavorful as well. I also recently started getting the onion pakoras which are a tasty appetizer when you don’t think a dosa will fill you up completely. The channa masala with a puri is tasty too, if you’re not in the mood for a dosa. They have a buffet some evenings; I initially thought it was only on Wednesdays, but I also saw it on a Thursday evening once, so I’m not sure what the actual schedule is. In addition to the food at the buffet bar, they give up to two small sized dosas with the buffet meal. However, I found that I still prefer ordering off the menu. Their service is decent, it’s not the best, but good enough I think. However, I have noticed that sometimes they seem to get a bit overwhelmed when the restaurant is busy. I would still recommend coming here for the food though!

This unpretentious spot offers authentic indian food from the South, very spicy(hot) –I have been to India quite a few time, so I believe this is a fair judgement call. I came here as I was craving some indian milky sweets, so I got just a couple of entrée, two huge samosas, and a crêpe with spicy potatoes, also humongous, and then went straight to the dessert, the Ras Malai. And that was very close to the real deal, would have been perfect with more condensed milk and saffron :) The yogurt drinks were too sweets for my taste, but overall it was definitely a nice find, I need to come back with a bigger appetite! A tip: don’t wear your Sunday best as they have an open kitchen and all the aroma of the food will go straight into your clothes.

Excellent vegetarian buffet, very tasty, great variety to choose from, with a nice spicy kick. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the restaurant appears clean and well run. It’s a small casual place located in a tiny strip mall, with limited free parking, right off venice blvd. Our check for two buffet’s came out to be around $ 28 with no drinks. You can’t go wrong here if you’re looking for healthy, flavorful Indian food, at a reasonable price.

We visit this place every once or twice a week. Annapurna is mainly a South Indian joint. They have mastered in all kinds of dosa(crepes). The dosa are always fresh and mouth watering. Sambhar(lentil soup) and chatny is authentic and delicious. Their Chana bhatura is also a good dish if you do not want to try dosa. Lunch buffet has lot of variety in curries. They also give you one small free dosa if you go for buffet. Other must try: Buttermilk, salt lassi. you can ask for non spicy Mango lassi Gobi manchurian if you like spicy Madras coffee

Open 365 days per year, this is my go-to holiday spot. What better to eat on Easter, Thanskgiving, Xmas, and New Years than dosa!!! If you’re going to go, I recommend going in a group. The fresh masala dosa is the best, but everyone should get something different and then you can share. There’s a buffet(obviously), and the food is authentic vegetarian. Warning: do not expect good service at this place, hence the minus-1 star. Each time I go, I end up walking up and pouring our table waters. There’s no water in waiter. OK that was a terrible joke, they can’t all be winners.

We love this place! Very unassuming, delicious South Indian cuisine. We’ve been for lunch and dinner and prefer the lunch buffet. I don’t usually prefer buffets, but this one is kept very clean and food is constantly being switched out. We come almost weekly for a weekend lunch, and are full for many hours after. The food is all vegetarian, but there really is something for everyone! While here, we’ve had chana saag, mushroom dish, bhindi masala, vegetable biryani, sambar, rasam and more. All deliciously spiced, not greasy and packed with flavor! Their food tends to be on the medium to spicy side, and all extremely satisfying. It is truly pure comfort food — while it’s certainly filling, it doesn’t leave you quite as weighted down or bloated as other Indian food. They also bring out a complimentary dosa for everyone who gets the lunch buffet. It’s not a massive one(I’d compare it to a small to medium quesadilla), with buttery and delicious mashed potato filling — plain and simple but again, very satisfying! We always leave here ready to take a nap. My fiancé’s family is from India, and when they visited they ate here multiple times as they too loved it. The price is definitely right! They do get busy at lunch on weekends, but they tend to turnover tables relatively quickly. One last bonus — they play Indian music videos, always fun to watch!

I have eaten here couple of times and I found the food to be very inconsistent, it’s always a hit or miss. It can get super crowded during lunch hours and one might end up waiting 15 – 20 mins to be seated. I was born in south India and grew up eating similar food what they serve here yet I do not find the quality nor the taste as close. Pros: Staff seems to be friendly and helpful. Cons: Very mediocre tasting and inconsistent food.

Yum Yum YUMMMM! I’m giving them 5 stars even though the restaurant itself has sort of the atmosphere of a cafeteria, and usually I would deduct a star for that. But what greaaaat food! Mitta(my friend who has been to india 8 times) and I got there on a rainy Saturday afternoon around 1.30. We had been there before and there weren’t that many people. Maybe it was the rain, maybe it was the time and day… the place was MOBBED! Filled with Indians enjoying the best Indian buffet I’ve had in a long time. The food was even better than the last couple of times I was there, so maybe they pull out the stops and really cook their little hearts out for the Saturday buffet. Oh, and…$ 10.95 for the buffet! Can’t beat it. The buffet had everything from lentils and puris to korma curry(veggies in creamy sauce), curried potatoes with green peppers and onions, veggie pakora which was fabulous(different veggies in sort of a tempura coating, but with Indian flavor), and the best… butter paneer(sauteed ricotta chunks) in a creamy red sauce. They also had a dessert bar but we were stuffed. I had mentioned to the waiter that they had run out of the puris(fried bread) and so he brought us a complimentary masala dosa — garbanzo bean flour tortilla filled with curried potatoes, peas and onions. Oh yum yum yum. Masala Dosa is what you get all over South India, it’s one of the street foods in addition to being served in restaurants, and the one they serve here is SUPERDUPER. The Mysore Dosa is not spicy; the Andhra Dosa is spicy, they actually sprinkle hot red pepper right into the tortilla before they fry it. India’s Grill on La Cienega and this great little place are the best Indian food currently in LA.

Amazing hidden gem in Culver City. This was the first time I had tried Dosas and it literally opened up my world to a whole new dish. I crave dosas all the time and go to Annapurna to fulfill that need. They also have tons of other dishes that you can’t go wrong with. My favorite dosa is the Mysore Masala Dosa. There’s curried potatoes inside the and the dosa is lined with spices. Too delicious. Every time I go there, I always contemplate on eating 2. The Butter Dosa is just as delicious as well. They have such a great variety, I should really try to taste new dosas each time. But I’ve found the winner and always crave it! Best part? This Indian restaurant is full vegetarian, so anyone can eat here! They also have an Indian market right next door to get spices and other groceries to home cook meals.

I had dinner here last night with one of my girlfriends. We didn’t know what we were in the mood for and I came across this one in my bookmarked places. I had the Paratha with Korma and she had the Mutter Paneer. The paratha was good and their raita is seriously the best I have ever had. But the vegetable korma wasn’t flavorful and spicy enough for me. I tried a little bit of the Mutter Paneer and it had much more flavor and spice. I would definitely recommend that one and probably order it if I ever go back.
