I tried this place in hopes of finding some authentic tacos. Authentic or not, the food was sadly underwhelming but not terrible. If you go– i would suggest the salmon taco over the baja– which is strange because i usually like baja style more than anything. The guac could have used some more lemon. But the chips were good. Servers were nice. There was a pretty cool seating area.
Loved this place! Not the best mexican/taco joint food I’ve ever had, but adorable setting and sweet service made up for it. The counter girl was a doll! Treated me like a regular and gave me stellar service. First time there with friends, got the torta and ehh, pretty mediocre. Barbacoa was too wet and the bread was not the traditional roll so i couldn’t pick it up. nbd, just not the best. Next time there, breakfast burrito! Best decision ever. Surprisingly good quality coffee complemented the chicken tinga, egg, and hashbrown burrito. Good stuff. I love sitting out on the side walk like I’m in a shack and getting some sun and Palm Trees in the midst of Culver City. It definitely beats any fast food and while others mention long waits, I went twice and barely waited with up to 6 people there eating/etc. A nice reprieve with decent food!

I came here for the self-proclaimed best torta in town and was a little underwhelmed. We got the carne asada torta based on the photos, and it was a decent sandwich, but something felt missing. It could have been that the bean spread was used sparingly, so all I could taste was the lettuce and tomato. The sandwich itself tasted fresh and not greasy, which was good. It was fine, just a little bland to me. If you’re craving a traditional torta, you’re better off at a nearby food truck.

This spot is a gem. Friendly staff, great food, and the absolute greatest breakfast burritos in the world(served all day). Heads up though, they’re not on the online pickup menu. Pretty epic horchata as well. I find some of the negative comments about this joint hard to believe. My burrito has never taken 20 minutes, it has never come out cold, and the two girls who work up front are always so nice. Then again, maybe a smile and a non-pretentious attitude go a long way.

One star experience from beginning to end. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. The lady behind the counter who took my order didn’t give me my receipt, and it was such a hassle to even ask for that I just quit trying. Aren’t receipts a given? WAITED45MINUTESFORTWOTACOSAND A SIDEOFQUESO. 45 freaking minutes. I could have driven to the store, made myself tacos, and eaten them within that time. Everyone around me was complaining about the wait and I heard many grumblings of «I’m never coming here again». And mind you, there was seating available, showed up around 2 so not quite lunch rush anymore so there was no reasonable explanation for the wait. Why would a carne asada and barbacoa taco take this long? Then I thought to myself, I hope these are amazing tacos and then I wouldn’t mind. Nope. Mediocre at best. Had to dump all the queso and hot sauce I had to get really any flavor. Queso given to me in the littlest container looked like it was sitting out for a long time and it was super tough/chewy and there was all that orange oil completely settled to the top. Overpriced, under-seasoned, and a complete waste of time.

Got the asada torta, and it was pretty decent. It’s not the biggest torta for 9.50, but it was still pretty tasty. Added rice, beans and plantains for 2.75 and that was pretty decent. Took a little bit of time for my food but the service was good and they are friendly. No wow factor really!

As soon as I walked in I felt as if I was in Mexico with all the authentic aromas! I tried the Bacon burrito and pineapple/cucumber Agua fresca. So delicious! Such a simple meal but oh so satisfying!!! I mean even the bacon was perfectly cooked to a crisp. The lady behind the counter was super nice as well, making it very inviting. So looking forward to my next visit!!!

In short… It’s a mediocre burrito that costs $ 10 and takes 25 minutes to receive. In length… Been here twice. Both times the obnoxious girl behind the counter warned me, «so like… We have like a lot of orders, so it will probably be 20 minutes to make. Is that ok?» Why on earth would a burrito take 20 minutes to make? There were two other single people at the restaurant, it was half empty at least. I appreciate the warning, but it still leaves a mystery unsolved. A 20 minute burrito in an empty restaurant?! When I got my burrito, the guy who ordered right after me was expecting his. Then they told him, «like sorry, like, we are out of pork?» So the guy changes to chicken, exercising serious patience. Are they truly making one burrito at a time??? He walked in after me and it took them 25 minutes to tell him what he ordered is out. Insanity. This would all be fine if the food was great. But it’s mediocre. And mediocrity for $ 9.50 that takes a really long time… Well, I’ll be up the street at the taco truck. Also, My burrito came out cold. So apparently it takes 15 minutes to make, And then another 10 to get off their asses and wrap the fucker up to give it to me.

I really wanted this place to be good, but I doubt I’ll go here again. The tacos were just okay though the fries with everything were fantastic. My advice is also to call ahead if you are taking food home because it was pretty hectic there…

This place is solid, but nothing special with taco places being a dime a dozen around here. They get bonus points for the queso w/rajas(melted cheese and pepper) you can add to tacos and the mexican corn on the cob. I can say the fire grilled chicken and barbacoa tacos were very tasty. However, the guac was pretty pedestrian, we were supposed to get two cream and two caramel filled churros, but they all tasted the same, and I honestly couldn’t tell which one we got(I’m guessing caramel, but jury is still out), the service was also kind of all over the place. And what’s up with the shot glass sized water cups and thimble sized salsa containers. Come on guys! (Also, don’t judge us for all the food we ordered, we had a $ 25 voucher we had to use)

This place gets 3.5 to 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for the service. My boyfriend and I met at Cerveteca for lunch on a Thursday because I had a Gilt City voucher.($ 25 worth of food for $ 15). First of all, I did not know that this place was basically a stand at a window because the Cerveteca in Venice is a full on restaurant. So that was a surprise right off the bat. Secondly, we ordered(4 tacos, a corn on the cob, chips and guacamole and churros) and the order took FOREVER. There were at least 5 people who ordered after us who got our orders before us. I know we had a slightly larger order for 2 people when you take into account some people only order a burrito, but it wasn’t exorbitantly large. So that was really frustrating. Now about the food. The amount of guacamole they give you for $ 6 is pretty stingy. You get a small cup that doesn’t really justify the cost, but it is really great guac. Other than that, the food was excellent. The homemade corn tortillas are delicious. I had the shrimp taco and chicken tinga taco and both were great. The corn was great(covered in cotija cheese) and the churros were crisp and sweet. If they can get their act together with the service, I would stop in here again.

I’d give 4.5 stars for flavor. I had the carne asada and chicken tinga tacos. The marination on the beef is perfect and the chimichurri is an excellent cap. The chicken taco was nothing special but still hit the spot. $ 3.25 for a single taco is outrageous. Especially in LA — land of the infinite dollar taco trucks whom have tacos just as tasty. Parking and seating are limited and the clientele is pretentious(the serious Mean Girl«you-can’t-sit-with-us-unless-you-work-at-Sony» type). Everything is also self-service including walking up to the window to pick up your order, packing your own salsa and picking your own drink out of their refrigerator so I have no idea why there is a tip line on credit card slips. I guess it’s just in case $ 8.50 for two small tacos and a canned soda isn’t enough. Twas good but I’ll get my taco fix somewhere far cheaper on my non-Sony budget.

Went here for the first time this weekend and was very pleased. We ordered from Eat24 ahead of time and then walked to pick it up. Apparently something went wrong with the connection and they did not have our orders so we had to wait about 20 minutes. However, the kind woman working their gave us a giant basket of chips and guacamole and salsa for the inconvenience. Plus, it was nice to know they were making it fresh to order. Tried the carnitas taco and shrimp taco and was happy with both. Also got the side of plantains/rice/beans. Honestly, the black beans and rice were my favorite part. They were just perfectly seasoned and delicious. The plantains were also good, but a bit too sweet for me. Would like to go back and try the breakfast burritos. Warning: Their green hot salsa is HOT. They don’t mess around

Did not expect this place to be so BOMB! An unexpected but pleasant surprise, this Mexican joint has food that’s packed with flavor and delicious ingredients. I had the chicken breakfast burritos that was packed it’s shredded chicken, eggs, beans and tater tots. They have a special secret sauce that just makes this burrito absolute perfection. Definitely going back to try their other items for lunch and dinner!

The only option for breakfast till 11am is breakfast burrito’s:(not even plantains, fries, something…) :(:(:(… On another note we have never found the juice«Jamaica» in California! Even better you get free refills. That made me excited and I got a freshly opened coconut. By the way location is awkwardly placed next to an urgent care with the paramedics pulls in and out patients. Kinda loses my appetite I give it a 3 because of these reasons. Other then that take the food to go cause it’s pretty tasty.

I am mainly a fan of this place because it’s usually where we end up after a night of partying and we have the drunk munchies; however, I don’t think I’d ever go out of my way to eat here. It’s outside seating only and you order at the window and wait for your name to be called. The sauces are kept at the window and they only give you sauce cups when your order is ready. I mainly stick the the tacos here, which never disappoint, but hey, I’m also rarely ever sober when dining here. If you order the french fries, these are no ordinary fries, they are colossal! I did try the carnitas burrito the other night and it was very underwhelming. On the plus side, they serve breakfast burritos all day. Who doesn’t like breakfast late at night?

First, I feel that you no longer respect my five star reviews because I have so many of them. But I have to tell you why. I look at Unilocal before I go into ANY place of business… so of course I steer toward 4 and 5 star places. I mean, why would I go check out a bar that other Unilocalers all agree is a 2 star joint… so I can confirm the place sucks? Anyway… the place smelled good as i was walking by it so gave it a quick Unilocal-check and decided to risk the 3.5… I was starving, too. Here, apparently, is how a taco joint with a walk up window and not enough seats can get five stars out of me: — easy parking with a dedicated lot — super clean eating area with recently wiped tables and chairs. — smiling beautiful young lady waiting to take my order the second I walk up the window. She’s either quite happy to be taking my order or she just smiles all the time. — big jug-style water dispenser with slices of lime and cucumber is all but shouting, «Here is some free, healthy flavored spa water that you can drink regardless of whether you order something to eat… save some money, save some calories… enjoy me» — and we are just getting to the food. All I had was four tacos. Maybe a little spendy but I feel they backed up the price with the undeniable quality. Best Baja Fish Taco I’ve every had(right up there with Ricky’s Tacos in Siverlake… but different beasts), then a Carnitas taco, then a veggie taco, forgot what the fourth taco was… But I ate it under 7 seconds. OK, yes… there was a little wait. Maybe that is the price you pay to get freshly made wonder-tacos. This is not how long you would wait for your tacos at Taco Bell or at Hole-in-the-wall joints in strip malls… that’s about a 58 second to 112 second wait. This food is better… you can wait 5 minutes.

I’m sitting here waiting for my two tacos. It’s been about 14 minutes, I need to order some food to go but I wanted to try it first. They seem busy and it seems like they get orders over the phone too, that’s why it takes a little while. This is not your usual taco place, no one is running around chopping hustling, it’s calm and you wait. I would call this a designer taco type of place. Ok I just got my 2 tacos, close to 20 min after ordering. Got the Asada and the Carnitas. Very very small tacos for about $ 3.50 each. But very flavorful. Too much oil for my taste, even the tortilla has oil on it. Charge me $ 3.50, I’m fine with that, but don’t make me wait 20min… I would order more tacos, but I would have to get a lot of them to get full. So I went with a carnitas burrito to go. I don’t mind paying a lot for food, but these tacos are too small for the price, and take too long for the price too. They are good, but they are not good enough to take my money and my time. I’m sure I’ll be back when I want a designer taco. If I take into consideration my 40 minutes I waited and the $ 18, it was more like a $ 35 meal with no drinks, no smile, no thank you. I said thank you, but the girl was too busy texting. Update: The burrito was pretty big and very good, so if you are hungry, burritos is the way to go. 8÷3÷15: Fish taco and Assad burrito are the way to go… and I got my hi, bye and smile, full and happy, 4 stars

Oh. My. God. Becky. 1st off, Im glad that CTTJ is RIGHTNEXTTO a Subway Sandwich shoppe and thriving. Im a fan of start up joints like this and they have my full support. Even if I have to shlep all the way from Westchester/LAX area to get at this food. The Food: It all looks so good and tasty. I played it safe with the carne asada torta, but my heart wanted the chorrizo torta(takes 15 to make). My torta looked a bit on the small size but it was an illusion. I was actually pretty full after devouring it. I felt that it could have used some avocado tho. I didn’t notice if it was offered as a side nor was it suggested to me. Oh well. Still the asada torta was pretty good. The meat was juicy, seasoned right & tender and the bolillo roll was fresh and warm. The price for the Torta & Jamica was $ 13. Damn Im thinking of that«Almost Famous“chorrizo torta… with melted cheese… again. Service: You walk up to the counter and order. When the food is ready, your name is called. So its as friendly as you are when you order. Food prep could be a bit faster, but again the quality is there so Ill let it slide. Miscellaneous: Cerveteca is tucked in pretty good in the street. I recommend looking for the Subway signage as a reference point. And if you see a line of people on the sidewalk I can assure you it aint for Subway. Seating is patio style so on those cold days I’d say bring a sweater. Im sure there’s a heat lamp out there. Overall: The price of the food is a bit on the high side for what this is, but still less expensive than other places that claim to be «Authentic Mexican» in the area. Would I come back? Sure. This Pocho needs to stop by Cerveteca for another taco or a torta. And if I have the extra 15 minutes, I’ll get the«Almost Famous» Cerveteca chorizo torta so I can stop mentioning it and follow up with a review update. ¡Ay Los Cabrones!
