Great place for brunch, fast and attentive service.

The food is good and our waiter was fine. However, there’s a power hungry manager that walks around, treating people like they’re the biggest inconvenience. You’ll know him when you see him because it looks like he just smelled a bad fart constantly. Except when he’s trying to cozy up to a table and get more money — then he smiles. My banana pancakes helped soothe the irritation, though.

While traveling through Southern California we looked for a lunch place and decided on this one. We each had a salad and both were exceptional. Service was good but a little slow but it was a Saturday and they were packed. We needed a break from driving and this was a pleasant surprise

Dinner at Metro is always a pleasure. Best dishes: start with any soup. Red pepper dip with bread is fantastic. Wild mushroom salad is delicious and big enough for two. Grilled corn salad is a close second. Then go with Mussels. You’ll be full but if you can squeeze in an entrée, lamb osso bucco with pappardelle is my favorite. Only not that great is in the dessert department. I would like to see that improved but everything else is stellar, and generally I eat so well I just want a macchiato after dinner anyway. Very reasonably priced, easy to park.

I go here for breakfast only; they have the best banana pancakes and omelettes in town! Very casual; Small indoor or outdoor seating available. Good for breakfast or lunch.

I’m always excited to get brunch. Unfortunately, today I thought that I’d rather ate at home. I can’t believe this place has a 4 star rating on Unilocal! There was no tables available outside which is a bummer because it’s not cozy or nice inside. It’s dark and gloomy. My husband said that it looked like a cave! I ordered banana pancakes which were pretty good until I got a bite in the middle. It was so sweet! It was crazy how overly sweet it was! Basically they put all bananas in the middle of the pancake so that part was super sweet. I usually like bananas and I don’t know how they cooked them but it was horrible. I ate the edges of pancakes and left the middle part(more than a half of pancakes). 10 $. Let’s talk about the service. It was even worse than food. Well, in the beginning our server was a nice guy(I don’t know his name). But our food brought a very tall and grumpy guy. He wasn’t sure who gets pancakes and who gets a sandwich. So he said«House special pancakes». I pointed at myself and said«Me». He didn’t seem to hear or understand it. After that my husband and I both said louder that pancakes were for me. He put the plates down and said«Ooookay» with some attitude on his face before he left. I’m not an expert but server usually says«Enjoy your meal» or something nice. Lol After we finished our food we couldn’t get our check for about 10 min. The same server dropped off the check silently at our table. When he dropped off the check second time for us to sign, he said«Here you go». Here you go?! How about thank you for coming and enjoy the rest of the day?! Did I mention he looked mad and never smiled? The worst brunch I ever had. Sad gloomy place with bad service.

Great brunch spot! Good service and delicious food. Every dish looks hearty and thoughtfully crafted. Fluffy pancakes, healthy kale and eggs or a delicious caffeinated beverage; can get it all here and it will be delish! Easy to find and convenient parking by the building on Washington.

I hope you have time on your hands… cause the food is worth the wait. Smaller restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Our wait to get a table for Sunday brunch was reasonable. Our waiter was attentive and got us drinks/took our order pretty quick. Then we waited, a long time, a really long time. Finally the food arrived, my better half got the culver omelette(bacon/grilled onion/cheese), I got the California scramble w/chicken sausage. It was worth the wait, the food is so good, great flavor and execution. I suggest you ask for a side of their salsa, I believe it was roasted tomatillo. We will head back again for sure, but would consider other options if time is a consideration.

I liked this place I would give it around a mid 3’s. It didn’t like a place I would seek out to go again but a nice brunch place to experience once. I had the chicken sausage and soft egg scramble. It was tasty because of the saltiness of the sausage. I got to try the sweet potato fries which were crispy which most places don’t have. The restaurant is kinda small but good for brunch with 2 – 4 people no more than that. It wasn’t loud so we were able to talk and good ambience.

The dinner was excellent. The waitress went outbid her way to accommodate the meal that I wanted which was salmon and sautéed spinach without charging us an additional fee. The Merlot I ordered was a delightful full bodied robust glass. We both were quite satisfied with our dinners.

Metro Café: have been breakfasting here for many years now, and the food and service has been consistently awesome and satisfying the entire time. my favorite items on the morning menu(and which I recommend to friends when I take them here): Banana Pancakes(the fresh banana slices get some carmelized pan-searing in this number) Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice Mimosas! Tofu Scramble Eggs Florentine(delicious hollandaise) French Toast with a tasty mini cup of raspberry… coulis? purée? preserves?(too good to call jam, you shall taste what I mean here). Everyone employed at Metro is nice, they are efficient and deferential; real people who know what they are doing.

Dinner with one of my favorite friends and a Unilocal friend too. Met the owners and the staff. Food excellent and service extremely excellent. This is must visit West LA restaurant and is featured in numerous food magazines and shows. Their web site says it all: «Welcome to sustainable and locally sourced food with a friendly ambiance in Culver City! Open daily for breakfast and lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.» I here you can often hear about this place on local KCRW and it is highly rated. Make reservations in advance, especially on the weekend because this is a highly sought dinner place on the weekends. I also hear that for breakfast the banana pancakes are awesome highly rated. This is a definite 5-star place at reasonable prices. They also have a Facebook page if you still use Facebook like me :)

I only had a coffee drink to go, but the space is really cute. I could see how it could get crowded on a weekend. They have almond milk and the guy made us a delicious mocha. The espresso and coffee were really good quality. I definitely want to come back for breakfast.

So we were looking for a place to eat breakfast as early as possible and a newish to being back in West LA… Found this place due to reviews but had no idea it was right by a travelodge! Despite the suspect locale, the menu was quite colorful with several fusion options. They also have several different types of beer on tap. Small and quaint. Will definitely go back again!

Really enjoyed the Sunday Brunch here! Recommended by good friends who live nearby and we settled in on this Café. There are many choices and all great places, but this quaint and charming establishment welcomes you like an intimate dinner party amongst friends. This place must differentiate itself given the number of people waiting to dine in. The menu offers a concentrated offering of tasty and creative dishes, especially the signature dish the Sauteed Banana House Special which we split between the four of us. I ordered another popular dish Ranchera Fresca which was flavorful and delicious. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a refreshing Mimosa to compliment the dish. Overall, the service, atmosphere and ambiance were all worth the dining experience. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but once you park it won’t matter because the quality trumps the inconvenience.

Our fun pack Saturday(hiking and drinking coffee) led us to this place for lunch. I was super excited, because Jonathan Gold included Metro Café in his 99 essential restaurant list for the LA Weekly! Locationn/Parking: I was mind F’ed when I notice that this place was located at a Travelodge. You can park in the Travelodge parking lot, but there are plenty of meter parking also. Free on Sundays! Ambiance/Décor: Reminds me of a modern diner. The café is small with limited tables and chairs. There’s outside seating available also. Service: At the time we got there, there was outside seating available. Once we saw a table open, we quickly booked it and got a seat inside. The hostess that we asked to switch tables gave us some attitude. Things got better when Ron(our waiter) came to save the day. He was very friendly, down to earth, and attentive. Our food came out fast also. Food: We got two popular plates that were talked about on Unilocal… 1) Banana pancakes: Yum-O! Loved it… even thought I got tired of eating it. It did get annoying eating the burnt banana parts, because it would get stuck to my teeth. I wouldn’t recommend adding syrup, because it’s already sweet by the bananas. 2) Serbian Scramble: What a hearty meal you are! Plate consisted of scrambled eggs, cured meats, mozzarella cheese, two slices of toast, and potato hash. When you combine a little bit of scramble egg, cure pieces of meat, pieces of mozzarella, and potato hash on a slice of toast, it makes a great mini open-faced sandwich. The fruit(Cantaloupe) gives the plate the finishing touch! Very refreshing and palate cleansing! :) 3) Bern Special: Consisted of two charbroiled chicken sausages on a bed of spinach and mushrooms topped with a soft omelette. The special also came with toast, breakfast potatoes, and cantaloupe. Thought it was great. The charboiled chicken sausages were not heavily greasy and the the bed of spinach, mushrooms, and the soft omelette was delightful to eat! Due to the saltiness of the sausage, I would recommend to request for more spinach. John Approved! :)

It’s a shame I haven’t come here any sooner — living just a mile away, I drive by all the time. Really need to start making this place a regular stop. The food is solid and the portions are generous. I came here at around 1pm on New Year’s and, per the guy working there, they honor the breakfast menu well past usual breakfast times on holidays and plus/minus one day — something to note if you’re craving their scrambles, omelets, or french toast at noon. I got their California omelet and, man, their eggs were fluffy and on the easy side, so they were nice and soft and delicate. So tasty. Their breakfast potatoes were like unshaven hash brown, which, as a big fan of hash brown, was a great pleasant surprise to someone saddened that they didn’t have ‘hash brown’ on the menu. Service was attentive, patient, and kind. We got outdoor seating and were seated under an area heat lamp which kept us nice and cozy during our time there. All menu items are $ 9+, with most items worth ordering at $ 11-$ 15, so it’s not the cheapest option, but you’ll definitely get good food and good portions for your money. Will definitely be back.

Whenever my fiancé and I drive past this place on weekends, we see a bunch of people waiting outside. We finally got around to trying out this place for brunch one weekend, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Country Scramble, which consisted of ground turkey with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. The portion was large, and the scramble was tasty. We also shared the highly recommended Sauteed Banana House Special, and it did not disappoint! The layers of pancakes with bananas was delicious. The staff was friendly, but there were not enough people to serve the customers. We had to wait a long time for the food to come out. I definitely suggest arriving here early to avoid long waits. I look forward to eating at Metro Café again!

First time here and came after work with a friend, it’s street parking but wasn’t hard to find at all. Meters next street down free after 6! Oh YEYah. The place opens for dinner at 6 pm so we arrived just in time and chose to sit outside because the weather was great. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive and took the time to explain many menu items to us, per her recommendations we shared the corn salad and house crepes. –|-Corn salad– tastes a lot better than it sounds! I didn’t expect that something so simple was actually able to make me come back alive after five. Super simple. Leaves, string beans, and corn freshly scraped off the cob was great but the sauce def topped it(literally), it was like lemon, olive oil and something else but it was GOOD. Gave us a really good idea to do this at home. =D –|-House crêpe– unfortunately this made me return back to being the living dead after waking up from the salad bc it was BO-ring. Seeing that other Unilocalers advised against it, we were feelin crepes and hoped for the best but unfortunately this was a miss and hence –1 star. It could’ve been better with Nutella inside but there was jam inside(who knows maybe we ordered it wrong) and fruits, it was like a vegan peanut butter jelly minus the peanut butter. :/Does that even make sense? Overall, I would come back. Service was GREAT and all smiles, waiter and waitress came and refilled our drinks several times despite us being outside and far away. Even without protein added to the salad, it was able to make two girls pretty full(salad+crepes+bread). I also wished they served breakfast food all day!
