I never see PS310 empty and there are great reasons why! Not only do they have some clever craft cocktails but their gastropub style food is really, really tasty. There is always a wait for dinner, even on a Tuesday night, but we got lucky recently as there were two spots at the bar so we could get in right away. I enjoyed a crushed velvet cocktail which was like a Moscow mule minus the ginger but with fresh berries and in a real copper cup. The staff didn’t kidnap my ID as some places do to prevent you from running off with the expensive cup. It was so bright and refreshing and stayed so cold down to the last drop. I tried it with the shrimp and white cheddar grits skillet which was an absolute smash of a dish. So hearty, so flavorful with plump shrimp, it was hard to share any of it even though I promised my friend I would let him have more than a bite! On the other hand the fish and chips my friend had were not as good because my standards are WAY too high for f&c even though I could tell they did a great job. The batter was thick and crispy but the fish inside just didn’t have a ton of flavor like they do in Epcot and England(sorry, I’m a British food snob!). Both dishes had a ton of food and were a great value. I love the bustling atmosphere and the bartender that serves us was super cool. This is part of a mini local chain so I should try PS213 next time I want dinner downtown… Or happy hour, anyone?

Naked Wings from Public School Culver City. I’ve known about this group for a while and heard some quality endorsements. Not the best space and the lighting was super bright but the rest was positive. Great Happy Hour menu. These Chicken Wings were spot on delicious. First off its genius to serve wings naked or not sauced. Usually places over sauce, under sauce, or the sauce flavor is not good. They took out all those scenarios. The Wings were plump, juicy, perfectly fried, and flavorful. They came with a nice blue cheese dressing and a standard buffalo sauce. The Buffalo was weak, standard Frank’s Red Hot type but the blue dressing was well done. Not too thick and not too thin. It could have used a touch more blue crumbles to be top notch, but all in all, it was tasty. Had some fried Cauliflower dish which was unique but over breaded and came with buffalo sauce and blue dressing(lazy, find another flavor profile). The street tacos were are least favorite but by no means we’re they bad. Just forgetable and small. But for the price point they nailed what Happy Hour is all about. I didn’t pay too much and the food and drink made me happy. That’s the formula. The dinner menu looked fun and I’ll be back for more. Well done Public School(not the best name).

This place is very cool. The setting is pretty neat. Beer was good. Service was great. There’s no TVs from what I remember so if you come here be prepared to bond with whomever you came with. The food was good but I wasn’t fan of the menu. The school theme doesn’t match the menu. I was expecting something real simple. Like grilled cheese, tater tots, burgers, chicken nuggets. But the menu was more complex than that. I ended up ordering an appetizer cause it’s what seemed more normal. Roasted Veggies and French fries which were very good.

Review based on Happy Hour Menu and Atmosphere(4 pm — 7 pm): My boyfriend and I were hanging out for a relaxing evening in downtown Culver City on a Friday evening when we decided to try out Public School’s happy hour menu for the first time. We sat outside in their patio area, where many others seemed to be celebrating TGIF in a lively and relaxed manner, without being too loud, which is the kind of atmosphere we were wanting. We were happy to find a nice variety of food and drinks to sample from the happy hour menu. It was not at all limited, like some other happy hours can be. We happily chose a couple of good beers from the $ 4 section, a pilsner and an IPA.(I like that there are categories of drinks and food under a range of prices on the menu, which allows for more choices.) We also ordered four food items as well: We are huge fans of good buffalo cauliflower, and we were happy to find Public School’s very tasty and a bit different from others we’ve had. It was whole pieces of cauliflower, fully breaded and deep fried, so that the each cauliflower had a solid crunch to every bite. Also, instead of being doused in buffalo sauce, which would have taken away the crispy breading factor, the buffalo sauce, along with ranch dressing, was given to us on the side for dipping. We really liked that. The crispy ahi tuna tacos, which were 4 mini tacos with a deep-fried shell, were only partially filled with marinated ahi tuna. The ahi was tasty, but I only got to taste it at the top of each taco, as the bottoms were completely empty. Half of my ahi experience were bites of only deep fried shell. I wish they had added a little more ahi tuna to each taco. Then I would have definitely loved it. My boyfriend also ordered the quinoa salad, which was a simple salad of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, and quinoa mixed together in a light dressing. It is a a good appetizer salad, especially for someone who wants a simple, lighter option. Overall, we enjoyed out time there and would return for happy hour. Next, time we will order the buffalo cauliflower again and try some of the other items on the menu. I like the way the theme of Public School is presented through the table settings, furniture, and school-related names related to various parts of the restaurant. It definitely promotes a fun environment.

I really enjoyed my experience here last night with a couple of my friends. The wait was almost an hour. We got seated at around 8pm in the our door section of the restaurant. There were heat lamps and sufficient lighting, so that worked out. I love the school theme. Menus looked like composition books and notepads. We started off with the fried calamari and the cheddar tots, they were great. I love the sauce that came with the calamari. The tater tots were just awesome. I also had the Earl of Juniper, it was very flavorful. Entrees, we had the lamb burger, Jidori fried chicken with green chili corn bread waffle, and the truffle butter steak with Mac n cheese. I really liked the chicken and waffle, best I’ve ever had for sure. I love the fluffy waffle and the flavor packed in it and the sweetness off the chicken. I tried some of the steak my friend ordered and it was very tender. The chips with the Mac n cheese was a nice touch. They also have a DineLA deal right now but it didn’t look too exciting. I wish I had room for dessert. That Nutella cookie sounds so good.

This place is an excellent place to sit down and talk. The food here is so good. Our waitress and host were wonderful. Their happy hour is first come first serve. They have a parking structure where the first two hours is free and every hour after that is $ 1.00.

You know, its rare that I give a full 5 stars when its not based soley on food. But PS310 really went all out with the theme and I really enjoyed it. From microscopes on the wall, to college ruled napkins to themed dish names. I found the whole environment very enjoyable. Now on to the food. First, the beer list was great, about 20 or so draft beers, all micro ish type brews. The happy hour menu looked great. We stayed for dinner because we wanted something more formal, but this would be a great place for HH. That mac and cheese dish and the tots looked amazing. We got the meat and cheese board. It was definitely enough for 3, probably enough for 4 people. I’m usually not impressed with these things, but the presentation and the quality of the meat and cheeses were outstanding. Definitely recommended if you want something stimulating for the palate that won’t kill your appetite prematurely. We got about half way through it before our main dishes came out. I got the roasted poblano/black bean/quinoa which came with what looked like a cilantro baked rice with toasted pumpkin seeds. It was wonderfully flavorful with some great spice and didn’t weigh me down, as I’d hope. Definitely didn’t miss having meat as part of my meal. My friend got the Jidori chicken. She said it was extremely good and killed the first piece in under 5 minutes. We took pretty much half of our meal home. The bill was $ 72 for 2 drinks, app, 2 main courses. If you have time, plan a walk around the neighborhood; downtown Culver City has really stepped up. Don’t forget that there is a dog friendly patio out front. Pro Tip: the parking garage behind the restaurant gives you 2 hours free parking with no validation, then its $ 1 every hour there after. Also, you can enter the restaurant from the back which is right next to the parking garage. Look for the sign Bottle Rock.

Been wanting to try out Public School for awhile now. Glad I finally got the chance to last night. Came here after a workout, and there were barely any places that were open after 9pm. This was one of the places that opened a little later. Ordered the Bacon Cheddar Tots. These were good, but they gave us so little. For 7 bucks, they should provide more. Ahi Tuna Tacos: These are not soft tacos. They come in a hard, crunchy shell. 4 Tacos total. Pretty good, but definitely won’t fill you up. Service was quick. Food came out pretty fast, and we ordered near closing time. Would come back and try out other dishes.

I’ve been here once, before, and after that time, I said I wasn’t coming back. But because of a meeting with friends, I gave it another try and not much changed. Got the burger with fries for lunch. Pretty mediocre, fries were very dry, burger was surprisingly salty. Service was good though. And they let us split a check like 6 ways, so that was nice. Overall, it was a nice place but the food was not spectacular. Beer was good from what I remembered during the last time. Parking: Lot in back — free for the first two hours Ambiance: Typical gastropub, played Sunday football on the screens during Sunday brunch so we had a few hecklers in the room. It was pretty loud, I could barley hear the conversation at the table. Bathroom was really far off in another realm I felt. The good: good service, takes reservation The bad: food was blah, no ranch? wth Tip: skip the place and go to Fathers Office down the street.

Downtown culver has some nice places to eat but most of them close early especially today on a Monday where you can’t get any kind of food after 10pm. Well this was the only place left to eat and we got here and sat outside on the patio. I was hungry after a good workout and decided to order the huntsman burger with fries. You get a choice of fries, salad, or quinoa. I chose the heavy stuff. Burger itself was real juicy as I got medium rare meat and it comes with all the toppings and for $ 2 more you can add bacon which I opted out of. The bun was an oily aoili Bun that paired well with the meat inside with the juicy grilled onions. Cheese was melted real nice. Food was pretty good for a place known for drinks mostly.

More like ***** 3.5 stars ***** However I don’t want to discredit the great drinks and snacks that they have. Service can be spotty especially if you are sitting at bar area but the tables adjacent to the bar. Beers and specialty cocktails are their forte. I’m usually here for the chorizo mac & cheese, fiery calamari, bacon cheddar tots and fries. They have HH, aka Recess, M-F 4 – 7PM.

The Chicken and Waffles are really tasty. The price is defiantly high for a dish of this type but the quality of the boneless chicken was good. Our waiter had a good vibe and was helpful. I was with a friend who is a vegetarian and it would be good if they had a few more selections for him to choose from.

Went here on Friday night with my fiancé. Let me start of by saying he loved the food! But I on the other hand did not enjoy it as much! First off we waited about 20 minutes for a table which is totally fine! But once they sat us we waited for about 8 minutes before anyone even acknowledge us. Can I get you something to drink, my name is blah blah be with you guys in a minute. Nothing!!! So while we are waiting there 3 servers are behind us laughing and talking with each other. Not cool. Especially being a waitress myself. So we finally got someone to come over and I asked a few questions about the menu he got us some water we ordered an appetizer. The appetizer arrived we ate it and finished it sat there for another 5 minutes after we finished it and still the server has not came back to take our order or check on us. So he comes back takes our order, my fiancé got the lamb burger which he loved!!! I got the short rib with mashed potatoes that had horseradish in them, which I might add that I asked if I could have it without the horseradish and he said yes! So I was happy about that. Well the food finally got there and my mashed potatoes had horse radish in them. I had to flag down our server to let him no and he went to the kitchen and I guess I can’t have them without the horse radish. I was disappointed that the server did NOT ask that question why would you say yes about something you’re not sure of. So he didn’t seem to care very much. A manager didn’t come over and apologize nothing was really said. Safe to say I will not return here again.

After years of having this bookmarked, as long as my friend has lived in Culver City, my friend and I finally came here a tad drunk already and we had even more drinks, the Earl Grey and the Guavalajara, both of which were perfect. We hadn’t eaten all day so we went for the most decadent dishes on the menu, items that we normally wouldn’t get. We got the chorizo mac and cheese, which had some potato chips on top, that also has some kale mixed in — a little feel good in a decadent dish. The dish isn’t so cheesy that it looks like fondue. We also picked the tater tots to share. There was nothing too special about their tots to speak of. The waiter convinced us to get the Jidori chicken and cornbread waffles, another favorite combo. It was as good as he described. Note: All of the waiters must be aspiring actors because they were hot.

Millennial Chow in the Culver Restaurant Zone We met up some Culver City peeps to our Sunday Brunch on at this popular Culver City«gastropub.» As we walked down Culver, the aroma of bacon wafted from the direction of Public School 310. They have a special rotating brunch menu and on our visit they had a veggie hash, lemon cream waffles, chicken and waffles, grits with bacon and eggs, and something else I can’t remember. They also have bottomless«cocktails» like a beer based mimosas. If you are not into the specials, their regular menu is available. We ordered the Grits and the veggie hash. The grits were in a square patty topped with chicken sausage, bacon, and over easy eggs with a tomato based sauce. The veggies hash was a mix of veggies and quinoa. The hash was like, «sorry that you are a vegetarian» since it was sorta blah and the over easy eggs were a little overdone. The chicken sausage on the grits was OK. Pork would have been better, and it would have been better to have crispy bacon rather than soggy bacon. I think when Gordon Ramsay opened the first Gastro pub in London, I don’t think he had the concept of Public School 310 on this mind. The upside was the hostesses were very efficient and our server Kyle was very professional, friendly, and had the right bit of attentiveness, so I would give the staff 5 stars. Another upside is that the food is pretty inexpensive and the weekend drink specials will be very a little damage to your bank account.

This is one of my fave happy hour spots. My boyfriend and i came yesterday and we had burgers. The service was excellent and its very clean inside. However i asked for my burger to be medium well and it was rare inside but it was still good. The calamari and brown bag of fries was also delicious. I will definitely be back again soon, especially for happy hour.

Great place for weekday happy hours! Just note that on Tuesdays culver city has its farmers market in downtown culver so parking may be a little tricky but there’s a parking structure by Bank of America that’s free for the first two hours. Happy hour is available outside or on the tables to the left when you walk in. The tables are communal so you do have to sit close to the people next to you. May not be the best if you’re trying to have a private date. Happy hour food and drinks are pretty cheap! Between two people, we paid about 20 each including tip. I had the 61 minute IPA which is actually a darker IPA and not on the happy hour menu but it was really good! We also ordered the Parmesan frites, cauliflower, ahi tacos, and hummus. There are different price options($ 4 – 7) per item. We wanted to try the chorizo Mac n cheese but ultimately decided not to be total gluttons. Will definitely be back!
