SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto Service

I love that I can get an oil change during my lunch hour with time to spare. The employees here are prompt and courteous, and they take the time to explain if they find something wrong. It’s a chain, so of course they have to follow that pricing structure. I would have given 5 stars, but it costs $ 60 just to plug in the computer for the check engine light.

So they did it again! I dropped my car off for an inspection at a local shop near home. It failed due to my front breaks. The price they quoted me was outrageous and they said that they «might» be able to do the work that day. Although SpeeDee is 45 minutes from home I figured I’d give them a call before making any commitments. The price was much lower then what the local shop quoted me and they told me that they could do it right away. Anyone who knows me knows I hate to drive but because of the service and trust that they have shown in the past I decided to make the trip. Let me tell you! It was more then worth it. I barely even got to sit down before they pulled my truck in to get started. I was yet again so impressed with the cleanliness and politeness of the staff. They got it done in a such a timely manner and my breaks feel great. I don’t tend to write reviews but I felt like everyone should know. I’ve always thought of car shops as crooks. I trust mechanics about as much as I trust doctors. Not so much. SpeeDee has changed that. I will NEVER have anyone else work on my vehicles. Thank you again!

i have used this speedy for several years. i went in yesterday and stated that i need the least expensive oil change and can not afford synthetic this time. i was told if i did not use synthetic 79.99 that it would void the warranty. so i needed to leave as i did not have 79.99 for an oil change.
so off to majestic honda i went. the women at majestic told me that synthetic was recommened but not required and the info i was given at speedy was
i made an appointment at majestic for 31.95 a synthetic blend would do just fine. the sad part is my 19 year old was screwed by the same guy 7500 miles ago. i will never go back to speedy.

I’ve come to this Speedee Oil Change location in Cumberland many-​a-​time due to it’s location being close to my office, I can swing by on my lunch hour and have my oil change with just enough time to stop for a coffee and head back to work.
The staff here has always been personable, professional and friendly. The only thing I can’t stand about these places is all of the up-​selling they do, but from knowing someone who used to work at a similar establishment, it’s part of their job. They have to solicit and up-​sell, much like a salesman.
If you do end up going to one of these places, you just have to do what I do. Go in and be firm. Tell them you just want an oil change, or whatever it is that you’re there for, and that’s it. Tell them unless your car is on fire or is about to blow up, you don’t want anything else worked on.
It works every time! I would recommend stopping by this Cumberland location because it’s never been too busy where I have to wait more than 30 minutes from the time I walk in to the time I leave. For instance, I stopped in yesterday afternoon around 1:45 to have my oil changed and was in and out in 10 minutes.
Job well done.

As I said earlier, I brought the vehicle to the dealer and they cleared the error and drove the car. Passed the sate inspection with flying colors. I know they have a good record the state too. When I mentioned my experience to others in town they simply nodded and said ‘Yep, we don’t go there anymore.’ I’m new to Cumberland so I didn’t know better. Now I do.

Went in for a simple inspection on a well maintained 2005 RAV. My trustworthy local mechanic (L&J auto repair) was too busy and I was past due. I thought I would pass easily but he found a couple of things I did not anticipate. One of the items was a lug nut that was stuck. He said he could not get it off without breaking it off and replacing the lug nut. It would be $ 60.00 to fix. He said he couldn’t inspect the rear brakes until he did. I said I just had it off recently and there was no problem with it then. With all the work from an axle to bulbs to wiper blades and this I became skeptical and wary. I took the vehicle under a failed inspection and brought to my busy mechanic four days later. The main reason was the lug nut issue. Well my mechanic was able to crack off the lug nut and rethread the «Cross Threaded» nut which was at the end of the bolt. «Hmmm» I said so the guy jammed on the nut with his air wrench and wanted to charge me $ 60 to fix it. My mechanic charged $ 16 to fix his hack. I never went back to finish the inspection. Even with having to repay the $ 39 inspection fee with my mechanic. All the work and a new battery (which they never even quoted) it was slightly cheaper than Speedy. I have a feeling once I committed to the work they would have conveniently found more.

I first went to this shop with a beat up Pontiac that needed an oil change; They treated me well, discounted the oil change, and showed me a few things that were wrong with the car. They were polite, sincere, honest, and good-​natured, and took me to the service area to show me what they thought should be fixed. From that point on, they were my mechanics.
They kept that Pontiac purring like a kitten, always at reasonable prices. When it broke down in South County and I was forced to take it to another shop, Speedee later fixed the mistakes that that shop made. When the Pontiac was so beat up that it wasn’t worth keeping on the road, they were straight up with me and told me that I was better off replacing it. (Of course, I replaced it with an even more beat up Nissan Altima! They had their job cut out for them; They did an amazing job of keeping it running until I could buy a better car!)
Every time I went into the shop, they went above and beyond on service, always gave fair quotes, and often discounted my maintenance and diagnostic services.
Sadly, I can no longer use this automotive shop! The 2000 mile drive to Cumberland is just a little too far! I will always remember them fondly and recommend them highly to my friends in Rhode Island!
