I almost missed this place based on a bad Unilocal review I read. Glad I walked past it and the aroma was stronger that that review. We had an excellent meal and wonderful service! We had the pulled pork sandwich and it was excellent and the baby back ribs were as good. If you are staying at the Marriott walk the path and eat here it is very good.

The service was subpar and so was the food. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment unless you’re looking for a stomach ache.

From being seated to the service, food, and drinks I was greatly disappointed… First off the greeter was interrupted by another employee just as she was about to seat me without even an «excuse me» and left the poor young greeters more confused than anything, second the greeter never asked if I would like to sit inside or outside… plenty of tables open in either section… menu lacked any of the beers on tap nor were they offered by the waitrest… I ordered a seafood and ribs. ribs are smoothered in bbq sauce and a bit undercooked. For seafood I selected the crab cake… the crab cake didn’t arrive until the waiterest finally checked on me when she was ready to leave the check and then I mentioned the crab cake… so I ended up getting it to go and they applied a 10% discount on the check… small gesture but either way food is a bit too expensive for the service and taste. not recommended.

The crabby pig is a nice place — and one of the few open on Sunday — in downtown Cumberland. I tried their ribs BBQ combo, my wife got the steak salad. Everything was well prepared, and delicious. We also tried their creamy crab soup. Sort of like a bisque, creamy and tasty. Seems like most places can’t pull off both seafood and BBQ well, but they do it nicely. The ribs were not as tender as I like them. But the sandwich and bun were good. The garlic mashed potatoes and freshly sautéed green beans are both excellent sides. We tried the chocolate cake for desert. It was ok, but still frozen. They have a good selection of beers too. Overall a good experience, and great value for the price.

Good crab soup and pretty decent BBQ. Service was attentive, but prices high for the quality of the meals.

Not sure why this restaurant has such great reviews, other than the service, which was friendly and professional. The food, on the other hand… My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to Charleston WV, hoping to have a nice meal before finishing our drive. He got the fried oyster sandwich. The oysters are apparently not cooked before being fried, and on top of that they were under-fried, so he ended up with a slimy, half-cooked, inedible mess. Imagine a slimy mouthful of raw oysters in undercooked soggy batter. Yeah, not pleasant. I had the pulled pork sandwich(«our specialty!»). The menu claims that the pork is cooked for 13 hours, and maybe that’s true, but no one will ever know if the restaurant continues to drown the pork in such an insane amount of sauce. Way, way, WAY too much sauce. This may as well have been a thick BBQ soup with some bread. And the sauce is so sweet that one more tablespoon would probably qualify it as a dessert topping. You guys are doing an injustice to the meat, you know that? We saw some locals eating crabs that looked very good. Maybe that’s the ticket. From our experience we’d have to say avoid the sandwiches for sure.

Average, nothing special. House-smoked pork sounded appealing but it was drowned in sweet sauce, obscuring any of the flavor that description promised. Looking around, obviously you’re supposed to order the crab, and lots of it.

There was shell in every bite of the Cream of Crab soup. Pricey meal for three(kids hotdog is $ 5.29 and does not include a drink). Wouldn’t call it family-friendly when some violent/bloody footage on Forensic Crime channel was on the TV. Kids or no kids — no one wants to look at that when they eat! On the upside, service was quick.

I go to Cumberland, MD a couple times per year for work and love this place. It is a short walk from the Marriot Residence and the food is so good. I love their crab chowder soup and they make some really good crap cakes as well. Have not tried their BBQ because when in Maryland it is all about the seafood, especially when you are from Arizona. Understanding their are real seafood critics out there from the area, this is only my opinion, and I will go back there every time until they severely disappoint, the next time I will be there, sometime in April and looking forward to it.

The place was hard to find at first because it’s tucked in among the railroad station doorways along Canal Street in downtown Cumberland, but if you find your way inside the food is most excellent. The cream crab soup is exceptional and rich, and you could practically make a meal on that alone but we only had a cup to share as an appetizer. Next time we’ll each get a bowl. The ribs are among the best I’ve ever had. The particular barbecue sauce was among the very best, probably in my top 3, even though the meat did not fall off the bones as easily as some places. That’s okay, because you’ll enjoy just chewing on those bones and slopping up all that good barbecue sauce. The fries were piping hot as well, and overall, a five star.

Initially unimpressed by waitstaff mistaking as part of another group, when I was dining alone breaking up a road trip. Easy to find restaurant, right off the highway in the canal basin area of town. Plenty of outdoor, covered seating.

NOTBAD!!! The MUSSELS in Garlic butter sauce was REALLY good. We shared a Captain’s Platter. We ordered ours fried. It wasn’t bad. The Crab cake had a nice flavor, decent amount of crab and fried really nicely. The shrimp were lightly breaded and a good size. the could’ve used some Old Bay which was offered later. The Haddock was flaky and also had a nice beeading. So why not 5 stars? As a seafood business owner/seafood Lover I thought this mean could have flavored before breading and during breading a lil more. However, I’ll be back!!!

The service was wonderful, and the food was brought out quickly and was hot. However, I just found the food to be missing any excitement. Average place. However, great for any traveler looking for a full meal while quickly passing through.

I was away on a girls’ weekend and we decided to give the Crabby Pig a try. Directions to it were ok until we had to park and walk a short bit to the restaurant, which was rally only about 100 yards but there wasn’t an adjoining parking lot — no biggie. We arrived right around dinner time and were able to be seated right away. Our waiter was prompt and courteous and made suggestions on drinks. The crab dip was delicious. One of the entrees ordered was the chesepeake chicken, which was flavored well and delicious. The creamy crab soup was good but could have been seasoned a bit more for my taste. The shrimp scampi Missed the mark completely. While the portion was a good size, the taste was way off and needed to be sent back. Our waiter was very apologetic and kind about the return and offered another meal, as well as removing the item from our bill and offering a discount on the remainder of the bill. Not every restaurant will prepare food to everyone’s taste so I can’t bash this place, especially in light of the way it was handled. We all left with full bellies as the restaurant began to fill up with patrons.

So my friend who I went here with after reading the menu asked me why it is called the Crabby Pig — — to me it seemed fairly obvious — — they serve crab and they serve pig(pork). I liked the concept of this place and the cute branding around town but the execution fell short. Being in Maryland and not a native I wanted crab so I opted for the sautéed soft shell crab sandwich. For $ 12 I was hoping to be served a bit more than what looked like a hermit crab on a roll. And when I say a hermit crab on a roll I mean one that is not even ready to move into a new shell yet. My friend had the fish sandwich and the size of his sandwich looked more like fish bait on a roll rather than actual fish. With that said, the crab soup we started with was amazing and made up for some of the other mishaps. I am sure this place has a lot of tourists that come through but I would be surprised if given the portion sizes they get a lot of repeat business.

The food was okay. Prices were a little high for the potions you got, but it was a friendly atmosphere with excellent wait staff.

Visite last Sunday afternoon with my wife and couple of my friends on our way back to Gaithersburg from Elkins WV. Ordered full rib for $ 23 with an add of crab cake. The crab cake was not at all worth for $ 9.95. That’s the big rip off. I shared the full rib with my friend. I couldn’t eat more than two pieces. Two of my other friends tried and they could not finish all the pieces. The rib taste something really funny. As soon as I walked out of the restaurant I felt bad in my stomach and threw up all what I ate. We drove for about 20 miles and my friend asked to stop the car and he threw up as well. My wife called the restaurant and reported. We received a poor response from the lady who said she is the manager. She called again in the morning and the guy answered and spoke very aragantly. We would not recommend this place and will never visit again.

Stopped in for a quick snack at this shockingly coastal themed canal restaurant, and had good, hot chicken tenders after the waitress confirmed that there is, in fact, an adult sized portion of chicken tenders(despite telling us outside before entry that there was). Okay service though our sever seemed spaced out. Overpriced. Good food.

Based on my one visit, the place is pretty average. I had the specialty — BBQ pork sandwich. It wasn’t the best or worst one I have had. I was also hungry so any sandwich would have been consumed. It came with chips and a pickle for $ 8. Really one of the cheaper items on the menu. Service was as good as expected for a table of one during a busy evening. It’s close to the bike and walking trails, and a hotel sits right down the block. I came here as a recommendation from a local. He said it was okay and that about sums it up.
