Bottom line: delicious food in a clean, comfortable, and unimposing place. This restaurant is in a small strip mall on a street across the road from Ingles on Canton Road(route 20). They serve Cuban and Peruvian food, both really tasty and impressively well done. We’ve been several times, both for lunch and dinner. The menu is the same at lunch or dinner, although they have daily lunch specials. It’s a sit down place with wait service, and they begin by bringing out chips and a spicy green salsa-like sauce made of avocados and jalapeños — love this! The arroz con mariscos, a rice dish with various types of seafood, is savory and huge. The lomo saltado is an interesting dish contained well-marinated steak with sautéed onions and french fries(in the mix), served alongside plantains and rice. The staff has always been helpful and amusing. Free refills on soda/tea. AMEX not accepted, btw.

It’s my favorite restaurant in the area! It’s amazing and I tell all my friends to go and taste the obviously fresh and homemade food.

Great lunch! I had the cuban sandwich and it was delicious. Not a long wait but they gave chips and guacamole salsa while I waited. Nice family owned Cuban and Peruvian food. Fast waitress except for waiting on my ticket. She made up woth it by being fast with returning my change. Will definitely come back and bring friends.

I drove past this place many times when I would take our daughters to Sawnee Ballet. I always wondered who in the heck would put a restaurant in what is barely even a strip mall that is set 100 yards away from the street and barely visible. Well, I guess the owners figured they’d let the food speak for itself, pay lower than normal rent, and word of mouth would bring the diners. Well, I can definitively say that it paid off. We went there for lunch and the food was absolutely fantastic. Plantains and black bean soup are the sides that come with every meal. I hate plantains… never cared for them at all. However, I figured I’d give these a try and I’m so glad I did… they were not mushy like the ones I’ve had in the past and the flavor was amazing… I know this will sound like a pretentious statement about wine but the flavor of the plantain was immediately pleasant but the intense flavor that followed was fabulous and lingered just long enough. The food was simple and delicious. We will be back. You need to try this place!

Great food and value for what you get! My husband and I have been here several times over the past year and a half. This evening, we noticed the restaurant was almost full with only two opened tables left. The food is consistently very good. I had the grouper with light butter white wine sauce, and it comes with black beans, rice and. My husband had Steak Charrusco, also with beans, rice and maduro(sweet bananas). Both dishes was exceptional and the prices were very good considering what we got.

Cozy little restaurant. Came on a Saturday night. Fast service and Nick was very knowledgable on Menu and was very attentive. Found out you can bring your own alcohol. With the reasonable prices, amazing food and you can bring your own booze… It’s a winning combination. Food was fresh and very tasty. We had the Lechon Asado and Lomo Saltado.

Consistency, for me, is one of the most important aspects of a restaurant. I’ve been to Apu Grill no less than a dozen of times and EVERY visit is like the first, which is stellar. The service is outstanding. It’s a small place but one of the better restaurants in Cumming. Regardless of if we are the only people there or if it’s jam packed, the servers are always on point – friendly and fast. The food is excellent. My favorite dish is the shrimp picante. If you are into spicy food, try this! The free avocado/lime salsa served with chips is crazy good. The empanadas rival the best in Miami. The décor isn’t super nice or trendy so don’t expect a fancy place. Apu Grill is located in a strip mall behind a thrift store and across the street Ingles.

Delicious! I’ve been looking for great Peruvian food since I moved to Alpharetta from Los Angeles, where I had a favorite spot. The only downside I can think of, is that I only got two tomato wedges in my pollo saltado. I wanted more :) My husband ordered the lomo saltado and was just as impressed. We ordered it take out and although the restaurant inside is small, there was a dinner rush coming in and a small bar serving alcohol as well.

The picante camarones is the best shrimp dish I have ever had, so good in fact I have never ordered anything else on our multitude of visits. Be aware it’s got a healthy kick to it, so be warned you must enjoy spicy to appreciate it. The spicy avocado salsa is also one of a kind Check this place out, I promise there will be something perfect for you if you enjoy Peruvian or Cuban foods.

I took my dad here tonight for dinner, it was open! I’m so happy I was able to try it. The food was fantastic! I had an appetizer that I had never tried called pappas rellenas(fried mashed potatoes stuffed with beef and peppers) and it was awesome. Little did I know that I was about to have one of the best dishes i’ve had in recent memory. I ordered the Ropa Vieja. It was perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing. If you’re ever in the area, I highly suggest this place.

My girlfriend and I decided spontaneously to try out the Apu Grill. Neither of us had ever heard of it or even seen it even though we’ve each driven past it nearly everyday for the past several years. The Peruvian dishes were authentically made and thoroughly enjoyed. The service was lovely, the atmosphere cozy, the food phenomenal, the overall experience truly a delight.

This restaurant had great reviews so I wanted to try it out for lunch. The place is relatively small but my friends and I were seated immediately. I ordered the grouper in butter sauce, which was decent but not something I would want to order again. The yellow rice that came with the dish was good but the fish itself had an odd texture and the sauce was very thick, instead of the«light butter sauce» as presented on the menu. I’m not sure if the ac was not working when I visited but it was very hot and stuffy inside the restaurant the whole time, which was not very pleasant for our meal. Overall, the food was alright for the price but I’m not sure that I would return.

Wife and I went to Dinner here tonight. Place was really slow — but the food was wonderful. Small little Peruvian/Cuban restaurant. I had the Pollo end Salsa de Champinones(Chicken in White Mushroom Sauce). Came with Wonderful Yellow Rice and Black Beans and a pair of Plantains. My Wife had the Pollo Camaron Enchilado — which is a chicken/shrimp dish in a red sauce. I think I have found my favorite new hole in the wall in Cumming, Ga

Wow! I drive by this place to drop off and pick up my daughter from ballet and never really thought too much about it. Then I saw the reviews and gave it a shot tonight. I had the Pollo Camaron Enchilado. It was great. My friend enjoyed her dish as well. We will be back. Give it a try.

I like a place where everyone wants to try each others dish because they are all good. Ceviche was big and tasty. Masas de Puerco was our favorite but the fish and chicken were also good. We will be back.

Just trust me. Go. Eat. Be amazed. Service and food were excellent. Our go-to place in Cumming. This place is #1 and Rio Balsas our #2. Try em both. :) ps– the other review knocking the ambiance? Ignore it. He must have been expecting some snooty New York dive or something. Silly people. The food is where it’s at and it is awesome here.

Wow don’t tell everyone this place is fantastic. Only 7 tables 4 booths. The food was unbelievably good. Black beans the best I’ve had outside of Miami. Spices right on track for Cuban food. Can’t wait to try more but I’m just to dam full.

After reading some reviews on area eateries, my wife and I decided to try this place out. We were glad we did. The food was delicious. Nothing we had was disappointing. They have a green sauce made from avocado, jalapeños, cilantro and some aromatics that will make you slap your mama with its creamy goodness created by the avocado. We had the calamari as an appetizer. I was craving it. It was cooked perfectly. My wife had the skirt steak with the Chimichurri, it was great. The tres leches cake hit the spot as dessert. Please try it out. It was not very busy and I’d hate to see this place go away. I will be back very soon. It is tucked away off of hwy 20. Worth the stop.

The other day we were looking for a lunch spot. We just finished a visit to the Costco in Cumming, and considered pizza?, polish hotdogs?, heartburn and not all that appetizing, Unilocal to the rescue. I began a search thru Unilocal for local spots and to my surprise I found, «APUGRILL», a Cuban/Peruvian fusion of a place. The reviews appeared positive, the menu looked inviting and it was only two mile away. APUGRILL is tucked away but a good landmark would be the Forsyth County Schools Services building, it’s on the same side of the street but across from it. The restaurant is clean, well presented and the staff is courteous and helpful. I ordered the Churrasco and my wife order the Masas de Puerco. When I got my dish(Churrasco) the steak was clearly appetizing, the rice portion was just right, the beans were done just right and the plantains were done the way Mom would of done them. This meal was clearly one of the better Latino restaurant meals I’ve had in a while. My wife’s Masas de Puerco was tender and juicy. Needless to say this was a delightful meal and I will visit again. My compliments to the chef and staff.
