Tam’s Backstage, we love you. It’s not very often that we can say everything was great from beginning to end. My bf(an executive chef) & I stopped in on a whim one night. The food was amazing. Our server, who was new, was trying so hard and was sweet as could be. The crab bisque was amazing, but so was everything else. Glad to see you guys aren’t like The Ridge and using microwaves. Thank you for actually caring about your customers and the food you serve! The care certainly shows.

My husband and I came here TWICE during our 3 day honeymoon! It was just that great! We drove around 40 minutes just to have dinner at Tam’s. My husband and I are foodies and this place definitely did not disappoint! The servings were copious and the food itself was full of flavor! Simply from the taste one can tell they use good quality ingredients! The crab bisque was absolutely scrumptious!

I went here for lunch with my husband and Catherine was our server. The crab bisque was very tasty. I ordered the Broadway pasta and it was delicious aside from the fact that the chicken was overcooked and inedible. I ate around it and boxed the rest of my leftovers to go. I let our server know, just as an FYI that the chicken was overcooked and that’s she may want to let the chef know but everything else was perfect. She promptly told the manager and they removed the item from our tab. We were not expecting that at all but was very much appreciated and left a great impression on us. We will definitely be back and just wanted to give a big thank you to Catherine for being a great and attentive server. Thank you!

Ok, so its so difficult to describe how wonderful our experience was at Tam’s Backstage. To loosely reference Elizabeth Barrett Browning’ poem: «How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count The Ways». I Love Thee service. It started with our wonderful/dynamic/exuberantly fabulous server, Catherine. She was full of personality and knowledge. Not just of the menu, but of the restaurant’s history and the historic building in which it is located. She is a fan of Tam’s, and we left as fan of her. I Love Thee food. I mean, really, that is what we come for first and fore most. My mother-in-law and I both had the 8 oz FILETMIGNON with the lobster tail. BEST filet ever!!! The filet was cooked to perfection, and the lobster was yummy. My wife had the MIXEDSEAFOODGRILL. She only gave me two bites. But those two bites were to die for! I Love Thee price. The price point was perfect. Fabulous food and perfect service. Tough to beat Tam’s Backstage. This is our third time eating at Tam’s, and each time has surpassed the other in scrumptiousness and yumminess. Seriously, If we lived in ATL we’d be up here every other week. I Love Thee Tam’s. We went there with another couple for New Year’s Eve dinner. We were seated right at 8:00(the time of our reservation) and greeted warmly by our server Caroline. Caroline was an exceptional server. She was knowledgeable about the menu and gave wonderful suggestions. My husband and my friend’s husband both opted for the ribeye and were not disappointed. They both said how perfectly the steaks were cooked and the sides were also delicious. My friend and I both selected one of the specials for the evening… The Prime Rib and it was superb. Most prime rib is just broiled and served to you, this one however was also seasoned and seared on the grill. One of the best Prime Rib I’ve ever eaten. The ambiance, service, and food was great. Definitely can’t wait for our next trip to Tam’s!

Beautiful stage like restaurant, delicious food and very courteous staff. It has a well priced menu and vegetarian options. This was our first time here and we had a great experience, our waiter refilled our drinks before we even noticed they were empty, great service. I would love to return to this beautiful spot.

This is my first Unilocal review even if I use it everywhere I travel. This is a small place I found near a school where my daughter was practicing on a weeknight and I am sooo glad Unilocal was there for me. This is a nice cozy area with great food and prices! The ambiance is woody and brick feel if you inserstand, almost cavelike. The menu fits the restaurant. I hope you enjoy it as much as us.

Although it was a little tricky to find for someone unfamiliar with the area, it was well worth it! I enjoyed the clam bisque and the Backstage Pasta. It was a fabulous meal from start to finish! My server was attentive and helpful and the ambiance was very relaxing. Loved everything about my visit! I’ll definitely be back! YUM!!!

We went in for the first time last night and were so happy to find a great menu and atmosphere. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and crab bisque and both were delicious and very generous portions. I ordered the Cesar salad and it was huge and loads of dressing as it should have! Can’t seem to find it anywhere like that. Then came our entrees. We were pretty full after the apps and salad but couldn’t resist digging into the grilled seafood dish and the night special prime rib. Our very excellent server Allison said it was to be a 12oz cut but this thing was a pound at least! Huge and deliciously seasoned. The scallops on the tilapia could have been rinsed more thoroughly as they were quite sandy but otherwise all food and service was on point. We cannot wait to return and I’m looking forward to bringing my parents too. You will not be disappointed!

We stumbled upon this place a month ago and it has quickly become our favorite restaurant in Cumming. Everything we’ve tried so far has been excellent — burgers, chicken salad, mac & cheese, bread, etc. but the shrimp and grits are to die for! The servers are incredibly nice and go above and beyond to accommodate special requests. We love this place!

Ahhhhh!!! Best kept secret restaurant in North Atlanta! The calamari appetizer is enough for 6 people, fresh, not overcooked and the marinara sauce is house made, hot and tasty. The crab bisque was also great! My wife had the broadway pasta and she loved it, i had the fried shrimp dinner and it filled my craving for fried shrimp perfectly. I can’t wait to go back.

Saturday Prime Rib is the best around, and for that I will always request Tam’s when I come to visit my parents in Cumming. Only negative is that there is no draft beer, just bottle. However, they do have a good cocktail menu to make up for that. Also: the service can be a little lacking. But it has improved recently.

TL: DR: restaurant falls into the higher end of casual. Think sport coats, slacks, fur coats and north of business casual. Crab soup and dip has generous crab and is delicious. Trout was tasty but fishy; almond encrusting is subtle. Fried shrimp dish is kind of boring. Funny story. My friends and I spent an entire Saturday refinishing furniture for a local charity house and were starving by evening. We had driven quite far from our home base of Johns Creek and we looked for places with $$ or less and an attire rating of «Casual» because. well we had on jeans and paint stains. Tam’s came up and we pulled into the driveway. Once I saw the awning out front, reminiscent of classier buildings in NYC, I had my doubts about how casual this place was going to be. Once we walked in, it was more than obvious that this was not the kind of casual. Well done hairdos adorned women with fur coats and double breasted peacoats. Men were in sports jackets and slacks and everyone had a glass of wine in their hands, making gestures with their other hands reminiscent of Niles and Frasier Crane. Whoops. But we were so hungry. And I didn’t have fancy clothes. And a waitress walked by with a bowl of crab bisque whose aroma filled my nostrils and made my decision to stay quite a bit easier. So three hungry, paint smeared patrons were sat by the bar, in these tiny bar tables. Aside from sticking out like sore thumbs, which made me a bit uncomfortable given the side glances we were getting, the overall experience was good. I ordered the Almond Encrusted Trout, my husband ordered the battered shrimp and we ordered a crab dip and a bowl of the bisque as appetizers. We were not disappointed with the food! It did take a while to come out but the bread we were provided in the meantime was dark, crusty and came with a delectable honey butter spread. The bisque and dip were both generous with the amount of crab in each. Two to three people can share the appetizers. The bowl of soup is a tall order for one person to polish off on their own. The almond encrusted trout was fairly large and not too heavily buttered. The almond flavor was very light and the trout flavor really dominated the palate. The shrimp was very crispy with a lot of breading. Nothing worth remembering. I’d stop by here again. Maybe this time we’d be offered a real table. I promise to show up wearing less paint. ;)

Ahhhh so torn. This spot is where we ended up when my request for a dinner spot was«somewhere sit down that’s not a chain.» I would classify it as «Cumming nice.» And, if you’re in Cumming and looking for someplace nice, then it will probably fit the bill. But to me, it was just nothing that special or out of the ordinary, and merits the three star, A-OK rating. Our food? A-OK. Some simple pastas, a salad topped with some grilled seafood, and a bread basket they brought us to nosh on while we waited were all A-OK. Our textbook ice cream pie dessert was also A-OK. Our service? A-OK. Despite being pretty full, they were able to seat us immediately upon arrival. Our server disappeared for periods of time, but overall was A-OK. The ambiance? Surprisingly classy for a spot that literally is backstage, with exposed brick, white cloth napkins, and a fairly hopping martini bar. But everyone was wearing jeans, we were a good 40 years younger than the average patron, and there was a disproportionate number of same-side-of-the-booth-sitting-couples. This averages out to A-OK. Overall, I’d eat at this spot again when visiting my Forsyth County friends, but I would go with more realistic expectations than the five star average here on Unilocal had initially led me to believe.
