This is the most INCOMPETENT caregiver agency I have ever come across. The person I met was Kathy Campbell and she dressed like a bar maid at our meeting! I thought these people have some knowledge of how to tastefully dress, especially for seniors. She was a broken record and kept repeating how reliable and expert their caregivers are. Yet she had no specifics about the training or education the caregivers have. I asked her what her background was and she said she had operated her own business but was vague about the specifics, something that immediately aroused my skepticism. Nevertheless, I needed someone right away for my Mother, and since she said she would make sure the appropriate caregiver would be sent to care for my Mother, I took a chance. Unfortunately, her words were not founded on reality. The caregiver she sent could barely speak English, and seemed rather offended that I kept asking her to repeat what she said. She was heavy set, which was not a problem for me, but she kept leaning on the furniture or sitting when I was trying to explain something to her. She didn’t seem to enjoy anything, even though I tried to make her feel welcome. My Mother was dumbfounded by her negative personality, and was uncomfortable with her. I asked her how long she had been a caregiver, and she said she is not allowed to talk about private matters! I called Kathy and she took 2 days to get back to me, and said they were short on staff because of the students returning to school, and she would find a replacement as soon as she could. That was the final blow. She did not even ask why the caregiver did not work out, nor express any concern or interest in what happened, as if this sort of occurrence is common in her agency. Please do NOT use this agency unless you are a very independent person and do not need quality care nor need a person who is upbeat and pleasant, for the caregiver we had to pay for did not show the slightest concern or interest in my Mother or her work!

A few weeks ago, as I prepared for back surgery(L4, L5 fusion), I knew I’d need an extra pair of hands when I got home from the hospital. I talked to my doctor, the wonderful John Madej, and he quickly recommended Caring Hands. I did some research, and their pricing came in slightly better than other caregiving firms in the area. When I called, owner Scott Stanley quickly offered to come over and look at my home to see what kinds of challenges I might be faced with post-op. I was very impressed with this, especially since I was only asking for 24 hours of care. He came and checked out my home, then he assigned a worker he thought would be perfect for my needs. On the day I left the hospital, he and I texted back and forth a bit to ensure we’d both arrive at my place at about the same time. I was impressed that he showed up with the caregiver, and even more impressed that he offered to go to the grocery store to pick up any groceries for me that I might have neglected to beforehand. The caregiver, CJ, did indeed turn out to be perfect for my needs. She’s a young gal, but had LOTS of experience as a caregiver. As it turns out, her mother and grandmother are also caregivers. CJ went through the house and made sure things were in easy reach so I wouldn’t have to bend down to pick anything up. She was there when I needed her, but she was quietly doing her own thing when I didn’t. Overall, a fantastic experience. I really trusted Caring Hands from the first moment I met Skott Stanley. If you’re in need of in-home care, I highly recommend this firm.
