I played my first round here on thursday after their renovation. I was always under the impression that they were under construction instead of renovation. All the hole layouts remains the same. A lot of tee box now added a fake grass mat like the ones in driving range but much longer. I hope it’s there only during this post-renovation stage and nurturing their new SOD. I notice some bunkers are gone. However, the sand in the bunkers are amazingly fluffy and on par with expensive courses bunkers! Which is a nice welcome. Holes are generally easier with the moved-up tee box. I enjoy the«new» deep cliff and hope more good news to come.

This is an executive course so for those short on time or who are like me and find playing a full 18 a bit of a task at times, this course is just right. You’ll have an opportunity to practice your short game set to beautiful backdrops. They are always accommodating and everyone is so friendly here. The course can get a bit backed up on weekends but that’s true of any course. They have been putting a lot of money into renovations which makes things a little inconvenient in the mean time. The turf tee boxes aren’t ideal, but they are only temporary.

Deep cliff is a executive 18 hole course where you can dial in your irons while enjoying great scenery, FRIENDLY staff, and relaxing time. Since the renovation this is one of my favorite places to go. Great community of regulars!

We got to play 8 holes for 12 $. Nice course. Starting Marshall said we all needed a bag, when the front desk told us we could consolidate. So that took about 10 minutes to figure out. Finally got to playing. We play pretty decent(4 of us) we are hitting about 4 – 5 per hole. The people in back of us never were waiting behind on us. We were going at a pretty good pace. Out of nowhere the Marshall comes up to us and pretty much tells us that we suck, and we shouldn’t be playing on this course. He tells us to skip the 8th hole. So we do.(nobody was behind us). We finish the 9th hole(while my friend hit a 35 yard chip) and I hit a 20 yard putt, and he comes up to us again. This time he states«I’ve been playing golf a long Time, you should start at the driving range(mind you we are all hitting 150+ yards a drive), and says we should play best ball? This was coming out of no where. And I replied«how are we ever gonna practice if you keep coming up to us, I’ll spend my money else where next time» he obviously didn’t like us for some reason, i probably won’t be returning here

We thought that with the new tee boxes deep cliff could be playable… Not impressed with the condition for 15 $. You are teeing off of mud

Fun short course to play whenever you want to play a quicker round. As well maintained as it can be during this drought. I always have fun here. I recommend it.

I guess this is a case of getting what you pay for. We booked online and saved a few bucks vs. the advertised rate, and it was worth the money. The course is a little quirky, but very picturesque. The greens were fair, but the tee boxes are almost non existent. I would play again.

I want to premise my remarks by first saying I’m a beginning golfer, a real bad hacker, but I love the game, and respect the other golfers. I currently like to play nine hole courses in the area allowing me to walk them which has given me some comparison. With regard to Deep Cliff, the staff is courteous, and the club house is clean and pleasant, great place to sit and have something to eat with a beer. The bathrooms are clean, and stocked with soap, and paper towels. As a senior, the fees are very affordable. There is a small driving range with a cage. Unfortunately due to the water shortage the greens could use some TLC. The T’s are more sand than turf, the fairways are drying up, and the putting greens could use a little help. However, despite the courses condition, the setting is beautiful with huge redwood trees, and streams meandering through the course. With a lot of par 3&4’s on the front nine, I love how challenging the course is, so prepare to lose a ball or two. And after the renovation in August I’m looking forward to returning to play the course again. What I didn’t care for while trying to finish my chipping, and putting, some younger people behind me were teeing off. I have not experienced that at Santa Teresa, Los Lagos, or the Rancho Del Pueblo Golf courses. This happened more than once, and I attribute it to the staff at the club not reminding younger people regarding the etiquette, and safety of respecting the other golfers trying to finish up on the course. Unfortunately there is always going to be a few bad apples in the bunch out on the course with an entitlement attitude of me first. However despite that one glitch, I plan on returning and giving the course another chance, I mean lets face it, when it comes to golf, and golf courses, I would play in the desert if I had to, I would just hope the golfers behind me had slow camels.

This course used to be amazing, but right now, this course is in horrible condition. Tee box is just sand. Paradoxically, the bunkers have no sand, so there is significant risk of injuring your wrist. Fairway is mostly just dirt and no grass. I would not go here until they have completed their renovation. Giving it two stars instead of one star because at least the greens and 5 – 10 yards surrounding the greens have grass that you can at least chip/putt from. Also because this course used to be nice.

Deep Cliff is a wonderful go-to course for quick rounds, family golf, short game work, and overall leisure. The pricing is quite competitive, and it is also a Youth-On-Course facility. The course recommends a pace-of-play that averages out to about 12 minutes per hole. This is very doable and walkable; but be advised that as always, ball searches will throw off the time. In other words, you can be confident to sneak in a lunchtime 9(if you don’t punch a clock); and on most days you can be confident not to be out all day. Carts are available(to my amusement), and push cart rentals are also available. The snack shop keeps better hours than lots of golf courses, and serves until the last tee time would be off. This is quite a plus, actually. Shoreline GL in Mountain View and Palo Alto GC have only their bars open at the end of the day. Snickers bars and sandwiches from the fridge are all you can go for at those courses. Not so at Deep Cliff. And yes, the staff at both the Pro Shop and the Snack Bar are friendly and cool people. Being what it is, you can expect that some days might be slow; what with families and beginners over-grouped sometimes being out there. But this is a normal thing; and usually they let you through if you’re in a real hurry. Also, it is a popular local group tournament location, so you may find yourself trying to sneak in before their flight tees off. But best not to be in a rush, if you can avoid it. Because the location offers some wonderful scenery, and a fun layout for every level of player. Beginners don’t have to worry about crushing the ball, and more skilled players have to be smart not to go for long shots in which they might hit tree branches or get bad bounces. I think of it as U.S. Open-ey in this regard: you are rewarded for hitting fairway, and they are not always all that wide. Normal length courses usually have a lot more field to stick a ball in. At Deep Cliff, go ahead and play that provisional, because if you think it sliced into the woods or creek; it probably did. I’m rather fond of the course, and return there again and again for various reasons. Short game work, don’t have time to play 6000 yards(when I’m a crappy golfer who goes looking for balls), or just feeling leisurely and need the walk. Have fun!

Went on Fri night to play a tournament format round of night golf. Had a blast. My foursome had some trouble making a reservation online but the pro in the shop took care of us straight away. Cost was around $ 30 plus another $ 15 becuase I had to buy a few special glow in the dark balls. My one suggestion would be to buy the balls on Amazon as I am sure you can get them cheaper, but no big deal. The tournament was well run, and lots of fun. Shotgun start at 8:30 and we played 9. They did a great job lighting up the course with glowsticks to show where the fairways, hazards, and greens were. If you are in to golf and want to try something different give this a try. It is harder than you think to hit a ball in the dark! Kudos to the staff for putting on a great tourney. Looking forward to next time.

This is a beautifully designed course that is being ruined by major overuse and inept maintenance. We spent most of our time waiting to play as the course was packed. Typically, there were 2 – 3 other foursomes queued up at every hole. It was truly painful. Maintenance on the course is horrible. Many of the walkways have deep puddles of water. Mud holes abound.

This will be my 3rd review for Deep Cliff and the outstanding service Ryan and his staff have provided me each time I have played. My GF and I played here about a month ago and we started early enough to ask«what about replay rates?» Ryan informed me that since I was a returning customer, and have played here before, that there would be no charge if we finished our round and wanted to play another. 36 holes is a LOOONG day, so we only did the back 9. We broke up our day by taking a nice lunch break outside after the first 18 holes and it was DELICIOUS! The food came out hot, and fresh. Not a single piece of french fry or Pastrami was left on my plate. I love how this place has affordable rates, a decent course, and offers you a free replay if you finish your round. I love place and look forward to playing here about once a month. I also recommend walking the course as well, its not too long but I would recommend a cart if you are feeling a bit low on energy. Thanks again!!!

Deep Cliff is a nice local course. amazing within 3 miles are millions of people. Tucked in the hills it is a very post card looking course. Fun layout. greens are good but tee boxes HAVE major issues! The café has nice Craft beer on draft. But they could use a newer TV. Wow circa 1980’s

Horrible. Tee boxes are all dirt so all the tees are moved in front of the normal tee boxes, still in dirt and some are sloped. Fairways and greens are in bad shape. I understand there’s a drought but this is not even playable. It’s basically an 18-hole bunker where you have to dig your feet in for a stable shot all day.

I haven’t played any other 18 hole executive courses and I hand’t played this course in 20 years(just took back up golf again last year), so I was looked forward to trying this course today. You get what you pay for. At $ 33 for walking 18 holes on a Sunday, it certainly did not break the bank. But the small driving range consists of hitting into a net, didn’t really like that. The greens were in good shape, but the tee boxes were all dirt or sand, so that kinda ruined our round for us. I know there is a drought but driving from dirt is not very fun. The course is very compact, which was OK, but he people behind us kept talking when we were driving/hitting/putting, we finally had to ask them to be quiet. There is a creek that runs through front nine, which was fun(to try to avoid), but also seems to result in lots of bugs, which were annoying I guess I’d rather pay a little more and get a nicer course. With the crappy range and the dirt tee boxes and the bugs, I’d rather play at Pruneridge. I was really hoping to like this course, but seems like it’s gone downhil, maybe once the drought is over it will be better.

I really enjoy playing here. Its a 18 hole executive course, but its not that small. Big enough to use a driver on a couple of holes and small enough to walk the entire course. They usually are not packed, so getting a tee time last minute is probable. The staff are always nice and the check — in person at the 1st tee is always friendly and informative. They look like they actually enjoy being at work. Bernard who works at the 1st tee is my favorite. Nicest guy in the world and funny to boot.

The place is decent and we had a good time. Celebrated 40th bday. We had kids around and the instructor was good keeping them engaged. My daughter lost one of her irons and the staff was not all helpful when called. The instructor never returned the calls even after leaving a message to check for the lost iron. A place is rated good when they take care of clients when things go wrong…

Nice golf course for beginners. It features mostly par 3s, with a few par 4s. The scenery is nice and the terrain is varied. Overall, it’s similar to Sunnyvale Sunken Gardens(similar style beginner course), but slightly more fun. On most holes, you don’t want to miss long(you’ll end up in the creek). If you’re undecided on club choice, always choose the shorter club.

First off, this is an absolutely gorgeous course! The scenery, the wildlife, and most importantly… The Golf! This is a great course to practice your mid-short game on. At this course, there isn’t much of a need to use your driver. There are only about 2 holes that you would need to use a wood on. You get a lot of practice on your short game, which is what most people need to work on since you will be using it the most. The course is almost always in great condition! The grass is always green, the creeks are always flowing, and the golf is always great!(Well, maybe not my actual game, but I do have a good time! Haha) I have found a few Groupon/Living Social deals for this course. I usually always pick one up because I do enjoy coming here. The only reason I took away a star is because it can get backed up(Due to SLOW players) and the Marshall doesn’t really do much about that. Also, it can get pricy during prime golfing time. And the other is there isn’t much of a driving range, but more of a warm up area. But, if you can usually find tee time deals during the middle of the week. Either way, I enjoy this course and would recommend to anyone to play!
