Yuck! Have to throw away one dish, it was disgusting. The meat was very hard to chew, the veggie was over cooked. In the past that I ate here and there was always one or two dishes no good. So you are taking chances might having one or two bad dishes. This is last time I come here to eat. Bye!

Things I love: the tea smoked duck and the spicy fish in oil. Things I don’t love: sometimes the wait can be a little long, even if it’s not full. But it’s forgivable. Portion sizes vary drastically. First time I got the duck, they must have served an entire bird. The second time, it was half. Maybe they readjusted, but only a month in between orders… But no matter, I’ll keep eating here.

A great variety of tasty selections, friendly staff, and cozy ambiance make for a pleasant dining experience. A few of my favorites include sauteed meat, sizzling lamb, sizzling fish, and salt-and-pepper fish. Also, free soft-serve ice cream!

On a slow night, the service was excellent. Super fast and efficient with the service. Food was great. Fish tank is awesome to look at. Free ice cream after your meal! Bring a Chinese friend cause you’re SOL without one.

If you like authentic Northern Chinese dishes(东北菜), this is THE place to go. The Good — Really good food: one of the most authentic northern Chinese food(东北菜) in all of Bay Area. Believe me, we searched, all over the area, from East Bay to South Bay. But unlike other types of Chinese food, Northern region Chinese food uses interesting ingredients(i.e. dried cucumber skin) and interesting flavors(i.e. sour cabbage soup). It’s definitely not for everyone. But if you appreciate all that, then this place is awesome. — Secret Menu: The owner goes back to China every 4 – 5 months to bring back rare ingredients and spices. He’s use them to create special dishes not on the menu. — Great service: The owner is really witty and funny. Unless they are really busy, he’ll usually take orders, and recommend dishes. We’ve tried many dishes not on the menu or not something we normally think to order, and they all became my new favorites. — Good for groups: lots of large round tables — Free soft serve ice cream! — Dishes are reasonably priced compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area The Bad — Parking: shares parking lot with a million other restaurants and shops, so parking can be difficult sometimes — Take out: took 20 mins to get the to-go order and the box they provide wasn’t very strong.

The food is excellent and authentic, the staff was warm. I had the cold dish combo and the portion is huge. One of the hidden gems in the plaza.

Yummy authentic food! Customer service was superb because the waiter went above and beyond to give us a big table in front of the fish tank after my daughter’s meltdown to see the fishes. The food portion was huge so we had more than enough togo for dinner. Plus, free ice cream cone after meal! Overall, delicious food, nice price, kid friendly, and excellent customer service.

I like this place! They do a great job with any of the dishes that require a deep frying. I have sampled many of their variations of deep fried meats with a sauce and they have all been delicious and still crispy. That crunch is important. I’d also recommend pairing the deep fried goodness with a sauteed vegetable dish, something green works best as their sauces tend to be rather heavy and can compete with other dishes. I haven’t tried their other dishes so can’t comment other than on their deep fried goodness. Good service and a table seems to be readily available whenever I’ve been. This place is a little bit better than average for your typical chinese food.

Like this restaurant. Quick service, food on and off, sometimes it taste really good, but sometimes it taste just okay. But the price was moderate, and I think the portion is getting smaller than before but, the food looked fresher than it used too. But I will definitely come back to this place. I often ordered their amazing string bean, spicy chicken, salt and pepper fish, guandong style eggplant. Yummy

Maybe the food is good. No idea, because they wouldn’t give us any. Came in with 2 friends, ordered some dumplings, and walked out 45 minutes later having never seen food. During those 45 minutes, 3 different waiters came over and asked how we were doing and several other customers came in and got served. It might not be so bad if you aren’t white.

I don’t have habit of writing reviews. However, After I got a take out for dumplings, it pissed me off! I hope I can give no star at all! I ordered Lamb dumplings and«Sanxian» dumplings– stuffed pork, shrimp, egg and chives. Lamb dumplings turn out ok, my husband quite like it. But, Thick dumpling skin of course! «Sanxian» 三鲜 dumplings are really disappointing! Little stuffing and reallyyyy thick dumpling skin! No pork at all! I only got two to three bites of shrimp from 12 dumplings! The only thing I ate is dumpling skin! The Frozen dumplings from supermarket can even do better! I am from north too, This is not the way of doing business! Don’t fool me with those poor quality dumplings! for 10 bucks!!! R U Kidding Me! I will never again go dinning or take out at this place!

Egg & ham fried rice: First taste was pleasantly chewy & tasty, then the more I ate, the more obvious was the influx of MSG for the taste. Then biting into egg shells wasn’t fun & I kept having the thought that I may die from the plastic looking and tasting ham. By the end of it, my mouth was saturated with salt & I had to down it with the complementary bitter tea. Stir fry Mixed vegetables: Served almost cold but not freezing, like it’s been sitting around in the kitchen for too long. The mushrooms all tasted sour, like past their canned expiry dates. Beef & tofu claypot stew: Tofu wasn’t fresh, beef had more tendon than meat, taste was mediocre. Cleanliness: Asked for smaller spoon to feed my toddler, was presented with plastic disposables ware that was covered in dust and extremely dirty. Disgusting is an understatement. Overall: My toddler who hates drinking water actually finished his entire bottle worth of water after dinner, due to the saltiness. My hubby & I just hope we don’t get food poisoning later… Even the cheap King Noodle at Santa Clara is cleaner, tastier & fresher with a greater portion. And as a word of precaution to all, «DONTGO!!! »

Many dishes are around $ 8.99-$ 9.99 price range and well worth it! Each dish can probably feed 3 people! My wife and I have been here multiple times with family and friends. 4 star rating mostly for the quantity of their food. The taste is probably 2.8 stars, a little below average of similar chinese food. We recently got food to go: general chicken which was a little spicier than mild(3 stars, $ 8.99), eggplant with garlic sauce was not as tasty as most other restaurants but at least eggplant had good texture(2 stars, $ 8.99), and beijing sauce pork strip which is basically thin slices of tender pork that comes with thin tofu skin(2.8 stars, $ 10.99). The other time we dined in and this was our experience: Waiter was very nice and truthful about what has msg in it. Probably 80% of the meat dishes have msg in it. The chef even came over to tell us he remembered to not put msg in anything. Very nice of him to come by =] He also was sweating a lot on his face hehe, working hard it would seem. We got free carmelized pineapple dessert too! We ate it so fast that i did not get to take a picture.

We’re between a three and four star review. On the four star side are the big portions, prices, and really delicious dishes that we had. On the three star what is the Szechwan special fish, it was greasy, but the fish soaked it up so it balanced out in the end. The service was a bit slow and not overly friendly at all. Overall, good prices and big portions, combined with some really tasty dishes, will bring us back. But not a real destination place I’d wait in line for too long.

GUANDONGHOUSE One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Cupertino, Guan Dong House cooks up a wide selection of delicious mainland Chinese food that is full of savory flavor and grease! The good and the bad together in a deliciously unhealthy combo that is sure to satisfy your taste buds and have you crying for water and tea to whet your palate! The dishes are super huge, so you won’t go home hungry for sure! Make sure you order their salt-pepper pork chops, sour napa lamb soup, Beijing spareribs, chive cake, dumplings, and pepper fish! Yummy! As with most real Chinese restaurants, don’t expect good service! As long as the food is good! Guan Dong House won’t gain any points for a clean establishment but because I enjoy the food, it gets a pass! Eat on!

Totally not worth the visit. This place used to be good, but I was really disappointed recently. They got my order wrong. Maybe they thought I wouldn’t notice mushrooms mixing in my stirfry? The quality was definitely meh. The service was lacking. Not coming back. If I do, someone slap me.

It was okay. My parents don’t know how to make any guan dong dishes so it’s not like I can easily make this kinda stuff at home. I just wasn’t particularly impressed with the food or cleanliness of the place.

The service is terrible. Took forever to get the waiters attention in order to get the check. The food was just alright. More like«Interesting.» We ordered a beef chow fun and the noodles were more similar to chong you bing(onion pancake) cut up in shapes of noodles.

Food: 4 stars Service: 0 stars(non existent) Hygiene: –1 star Overall: 3 stars We went to Cupertino village on Saturday night around 9 pm and this place was one of the few restaurants that was still open. We were seated at a corner table and upon sitting, we saw a large insect on the wall… don’t think it was a cockroach but it was pretty gross to have to look at it throughout the meal. The waiter didn’t seem concerned at all: x that was not the only bug we saw, mind you. As our dishes were served, more flying insects came flying around our dishes and we had to constantly swat them away… It sure made me reminiscent the times eating at dingy road side stalls in Asia :/Thankfully, we didn’t find any bugs in our food. I did find a stand of hair in my rice though :/ That said, I’m «Asian restaurant trained» so I wasn’t all too disgusted really. Oh yeah. Lol. I might change my mind if I visit the kitchen, but well… Out of sight, out of mind! The food though, was extremely generous in portions and decently good. Expect entrée portions for appetizers and American portions for entrée. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and it was probably enough for 4 to 5 people. Century egg tofu — simple dish which you can’t go wrong with. Loved it! I don’t remember the names of the other dishes we ordered :/(probably should have been more diligent about my reviews since this was a week ago… Either that or my memory is failing me, ouch) There was another appetizer which had tofu and some mixed vegetables. It includes cilantro which I hate(yucksssss) but my boyfriend loved it. We ordered an eggplant stir fry entrée and a spicy sliced fillet cooked with chili oil dish. Both were awesome! Let’s hope my pictures do it some justice. Finally, don’t expect much(if any) service. For the food portions and prices, just remember to lower your expectations and have an enjoyable time with the dishes!
