Small place and looks a little«iffy.» But get a glimpse(or a whiff) of the meat smokers out back and you KNOW you want to eat here. Service was quick, wait staff listened to special requests and food was delicious. Meat was tender, sauces were yummy and sides were all good. Nice sized servings too. Between our table of 5, we tried all of the side dishes — the Brunswick stew, cole slaw, baked beans, sweet potato fries and salad bar — and all were really good. Owner is retired navy, gives discount to veterans. Was worth the detour.

As a BBQ lover, I can say that this place is a cut above the usual. In fact, we ate here three meals in a row. Patterson’s not only serves traditional BBQ fare with sides, but they also have grilled steaks, pork chops, and other daily meat specials, a salad bar– and they also serve breakfast. Try the Death by Breakfast– maybe not the healthiest dish– but so worth it!

We visited Patterson’s on a Saturday afternoon when no one else was there. We ordered barbecue sandwiches, coleslaw, Brunswick stew, and potato salad. The best thing we had was the Brunswick stew. It was delicious and we ate every drop. It did lack lima beans, which we’re used to in Brunswick stew. Delicious, though. We found the potato salad and coleslaw pretty good. We really liked them both. The barbecue sauce was delicious, and not cloying, which can be a problem. The unsweetened iced tea was great. We liked it a lot. Unfortunately, the main event, the pork sandwiches, were subpar. None of us really liked them. One of us thought the meat was«off.» Now I’m not sure I would go that far, but I would say that it was bland and there was no smokey flavor.

Every time I eat at Patterson’s the steak is good. Never a bad meal. The salad bar is good. I enjoy there lunch specials. Good place to eat.
