CUPCAKES. Cupcakes. Cupcakes. Cookies. Coffee. Frappes. Scones. Sandwiches. Omelets. Sweet Tea. CUPCAKES. Friends, looks like I’ve found the place to get myself cupcake treats. The dangerous thing about this is that I walk by this place nearly every day. Cupcakes tempt me. They sit in the window and beckon me to buy and devour them. Ohhh, cupcakes. So good. They might be the reason I can’t stray from sugar… JJ’s is just what this town needed. It’s more than just a bakery — it’s bakery, part café, part coffeehouse. The interior is sweet and colorful with several tables, lights strung about, and a giant chalkboard wall. The simple menu offers breakfast omelets to hearty lunch sandwiches to baked goods and sweet tea. I’ve yet to try a meal here, so I can’t judge on that, but I can tell you the sweets are good. The cupcakes are fresh and phenomenal, and the cookies are amazingly soft and delicious. I also had a vanilla-flavored frappé today(yay for my first ‘cold’ coffee drink of the year — spring is almost here!) and it hit the spot. No, it isn’t anyting like typical indie coffeehouses or Starbucks, but knowing they offer some flavored coffes and lattes is a huge plus in my book. Oh! And did I mention the free WiFi? Sweet. In addition to making specialty cakes, JJ’s also offers catering. JJ himself is very passionate about what he does and this community. I am excited for this place to flourish. And give me more cupcakes. Nom nom nom.
