JAX Burgers Fries & Shakes

The burgers are big and juicy. My personal favorite is the Mushroom Swiss burger, because they’re very generous with the mushrooms-​the price is worth it. The milkshakes are delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and I have always had a good experience here. I would definitely recommend it to any burger lover.

This is a decent place for a burger; but not standout. I split a cheeseburger and vanilla shake with a friend. The burger really lacked in cheese; my friend forgot we’d even ordered it with cheese. The patty was very juicy, but not really seasoned. This seems to be a recurring experience with me and burgers lately. Portion-​wise, it was on the larger size, so I was glad I split one. They were considerate enough to serve each half with fries in separate baskets.
The fries were also just average; okay seasoning. It helps that they have sriracha and jalapeño ketchups, as well as ghost pepper, habanero, and jalapeño sauces. The milkshake was tasty, but it’s made with homemade vanilla by Blue Bell, so it’s good by default.
I’d come back, but I just don’t find it to be outstanding or super memorable.

Jax listened and is now offering chicken sandwiches that are beyond awesome. Come hungry because they are huge sandwiches that can even be split and add some Cajun fries. …delicious

A great place for lunch — homemade patties cooked just right with fresh toppings and an awesome bun! Excellent laid back, family friendly atmosphere. Very attentive service — if these are the new owners, the changes are working!

This place is underwhelming. I got the chicken burger and it looked like it was chewed up already. It also tasted like hamburger grease, it was oily and unappealing. The guac was brown, there was mayo on both mine and my husbands burger even after we requested there not to be. Their only saving grace is that they have good fries and good jalapeño ketchup.
My husband does insist the burgers are pretty good, but if you do decide to go and think the grilled chicken will be a nice alternative, let this serve as a warning, it’s nasty.

This is a prime example of how inaccurate Unilocal can be. This restaurant is awesome. They are under new owners and new management. The past reviews are now affecting these new people. God bless the people that start their own business and that are business owners.
People seem to be way too quick on writing reviews about things that are so petty and insignificant about actual experiences.
These burgers are fantastic and have great flavor.
Before you quickly judge and leave a review for a business think about the financial and livelihood impact that you have on them and their family.

Nice big burger and good service but the burger needs more seasoning, not a lot of flavor in the meat. Wife agreed and said it was a bit bland. I had the garlic fries and cheeseburger and added bacon. Wife had cheeseburger and regular fries. So since we both agree it was not flavorful we give it a 3. Needs more bang for that buck.

Burgers are sloppy, the kids who take orders obviously can’t pay attention to orders. Or they don’t make sure orders go out complete. Especially important for to go orders. Hire an adult.

Love the atmosphere and the food ! They have great burgers and I love the buffalo blue cheese fries as well as the sweet potato fries! The mushroom Swiss Burger is one of my favorites. It is not cheap but it is good food.

Okay burger. It didn’t seem to be anything special, but it is a good size. The mustard had a bit of a peppery taste that was a bit overpowering by the end of the burger. The milkshake was great and if I was driving by and wanted a milkshake I would stop in to pick one up. I can’t say I would go out of my way to go get dinner here, but it would do in a pinch.

Average burger. Average fries. Good in a pinch, but nothing special. The food is fresh, and the service is decent. At the end of the day: just average.

If you’re looking for a good old fashioned burger and shake, Jax is your place. I’m not a big fan of burgers, however I won’t pass up an offer to go to Jax! The patties are generous, fresh and well seasoned. I have to say the burgers are a bit greasy – but aren’t they supposed to be?
The chicken sandwiches are also good as are the fries and onion rings. The milkshakes are great and the prices are a little higher than average but not over the top.

Close to home, where I get my burger fix. Love the seasoned fries. The atmosphere is very country with the table cloths and cheapy chairs. But the burgers make up for the tables, and who goes to a fancy place for burgers? Milkshakes are good too

The menu is small but the burgers and fries are large and tasty. I like the different varieties of fries offerred.

My family and I frequent Jax’s. Their service is fantastic. The two girls I’ve talked to at the front the last time two times I’ve been in are very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and always bring my food promptly. The food is wonderful. I always get their cheeseburger or the chicken sandwich, both of which are juicy and delicious. I love the cajun fries as well. The buns hold up, and are nice and buttery. The shakes are to die for. The atmosphere is pleasant. There is never a huge line but there is usually several others dining when I come in. Price is reasonable.
Will continue to loooove this place!

Jax had a really cool vibe walking in. You order at the register, give them your name and they’ll later call you when your food is ready.
I had the shroom chicken and cajun fries. The sandwich was good, my only issue was how greasy it was. By the end of my sandwich, the bun was covered in grease which I didn’t enjoy too much. As for the cajun fries, they were good but not great. I was hoping for more of a kick.
On another note, they flip their sandwiches over so when you go to pick it up the sesame bun is on top which I thought was cool! Food comes out quick and their prices were reasonable. I would come back to try some of the other appealing things on their menu.

Just a burger place so not my cup of tea, but my son enjoyed his. Prices seemed a little high, but the burgers also seemed above average from the buns to the meat. Burger came with fries which were not very good being limp and soggy.
On the other hand, the sweet potato fries were very good. I couldn’t stop eating them.

I added an extra star, because of the freshness of the bun, lettuce, tomato, etc.
The burger looked good. It felt good. It smelled good. But the meat itself had no flavor. None. It’s very lean angus which is probably why it’s lacking taste. No spices (salt/​pepper) were added to the meat while frying, I think that would have helped quite a bit. I added A-​1 which salvaged the burger. The bun was nice, soft, easy to handle, the ingredients didn’t fall out when I picked up the sandwich. It is a good sized burger, delicious looking and all that. But the meat itself seriously lacked any taste whatsoever. Why get a burger if the meat tastes like nothing?
The fries were fresh, made from real not frozen (I think) potatoes, but tasted of old grease. We did arrive at 7:10, Jax closes at 8. Maybe they didn’t want to change the grease at the last hour, can’t blame them for that.
But it was the skittering cockroaches in the bathroom that unnerved me the most. Not the big roaches — the littler ones that indicate a dirty environment. The place did not look very clean, like there was a layer of grime everywhere.
I just can’t imagine going here again for any reason.

I have found several GREAT locations in and around the Houston area to get a delicious burger. JAX is being added to my list of great burgers!
The dining area is comfortable — your basic restaurant table and chairs. No booths.
You order at the counter (very small menu) and they bring it to you.
I ordered the baja burger ($ 8.00) and regular JAX fries ($ 1.95) and a small drink ($ 2.00)
The burger came out upside down (maybe that is normal). It must be about a ½ lb of meat. It had a good sear to seal in the moisture. Not too salty — just right. The meat wasn’t your supermarket ground beef. It seemed to have a little more bite to it. The BAJA burger had jalapeños, bacon, cheese and the other typical toppings. The bun held up nicely. It was a gourmet basic toasted bun — not your cheap fall — apart supermarket bun. The bacon was thick and delicious (but isn’t bacon ALWAYS delicious???)
It is a simple as store. No frills. Their focus is the burger. And I would definitely recommend it! If you see a JAX Burger, stop. Whip out the wallet. Surrender to the burger. Don’t pass this one by!

If you want a good cheeseburger in the Cypress area then this is the place to be. Definitely better than pretty much any other local burger you will find in the area. The patty was thick and juicy, melted cheese and topped with fresh ingredients. I ordered a side of onion rings and my husband got the Cajun fries. Both came out piping hot and crispy! YUMMM!
Our three year old had a chicken tender kids meal that was also made when ordered. Came out so hot I had to break the pieces and wait for them to cool before serving him his meal. But that is a good thing, it means my little guy isn’t getting some day old crap that’s been sitting around. I like it!!!
Great burgers, great sides, great kids meals… unfortunately the shakes did not win me over. Too thick to drink, and more sweet than flavorful. May be just one some people prefer, but not to my personal taste.
Overall a cool, comfortable place, close to home and most importantly serving fresh, tasty grub. We shall return!!!
P. S. Check the website for other convenient locations, they have several!!! We almost drove out to Spring to try this place. Glad we looked online first!
