We went to this doctor for a couple of years before finally giving up. I had already switched doctors for my 6 yr old son 2 times by that point and wanted to give him a chance. We didn’t have any problems at first, he is fine for routine well checks as long as there is nothing wrong with your child. My son, almost 3 at the time my daughter was born began having severe behavior problems. I called to talk to the nurse(who I understand is no longer there) and got a cold referral to a psychiatrist with absoloutley no consult between her and the doctor. When I went in to ask him about it the next time we were there, he had a lame excuse for her behavior and then told me to ignore as much of the behavior as I could. We finally ended up getting a diagnosis of Asperger’s, but Knapick didn’t «see any signs» of anything each time I asked him about it. Despite all that, I still tried to stick with him because to his defense he is not a specialist. Then I went in for a simple blood test, and he talked me into getting another test as well, but a mixup at the lab cost us $ 700 for the test he wanted and they didn’t even do the initial test I went in for. When I asked for help trying to straighten it out I couldn’t even get a simple phone call back from anyone. The main thing I didn’t like about this doctor was how he would be backing out of the room while we were talking like he couldn’t wait to get out of there. One time he said he would be right back and never came back! You might ask why didn’t I switch sooner, well the truth is I thought they were all pretty much the same. Now I know better, we see Dr. Thomas Worrall and there is a difference of night and day. Dr. Knapick looks good on paper, but if you are a parent of a non typical child would NOT recommend.
