Kroger Marketplace

Waited at the Deli for 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. The three women behind the counter saw me, ignored me and then proceeded to debate about where they should put the honey ham. I left after I realized they were not open. Or maybe they were? Who knows! In addition to the poor deli service, the bathroom is filthy!!! And don’t even get me started on the long lines at Starbucks. Patiently waiting for the new HEB to open in September.

This store has a Starbucks so I stopped in (against my better judgment) to get a drink. THIS IS THE SLOWEST STARBUCKS EVER!!! Don’t go to the bathroom either. The bathrooms are also disgusting!!! If you can, go to 529 and Barker to avoid this store altogether. It sucks! There is a terrible Starbucks up the street that doesn’t suck as much as this Starbucks! They have new NON user friendly self checkout now too. Run! Run away from this money pit!

This Kroger like most Kroger’s now force you to use the chip card. No credit option, only debit forcing you to use your completely unsafe 4 digit numeric PIN. Ridiculous. Cash only here.

I found this Kroger somewhat by accident and I am so happy I did!!! I have been shopping at this location for over a year and is now my grocery store of choice! I have always found the staff friendly, helpful and truly interested in keeping me as a customer! They have ordered products that they did not have on their shelves to add to the permanent product line and even lowered a price permanently when I mentioned that I go to a different store for an item due to price! Awesome store!!!

I am glad I just read that this is not a 24 hour kroger like the one on West Rd & Hwy 6, but this is definitely a very nice kroger store. Our neighbor told us about this place, so we decided to go one day after visiting Unleashed next door.
It is a very big store full of random things you do not usually find at the other kroger stores, but quite pleasant. Nice selection and savings are awesome, with the kroger card.
Fiancé and I still prefer the HEB on Tuckerton, but this is a good spot to purchase last minute things during the week.

I live right down the street so I always do my grocery shopping here. The staff is very nice and the store is always very clean and nicely set up.

Great store, lots of options, great hours… but the staff is horrible! They are rude, slow, and not very knowledgeable.
My first experience was with the floral department, placed an order, came back to pick up, and they could not find the order. Kept telling me if I placed on order it would be in her book, and it was not, even though I’m showing her the receipt. Finally I noticed the order was taped to the computer, and then instead of an apology, I get a deep sigh from her and she walks off without a word. Comes back and says the order is sitting in the walk in fridge, if I want to get a cart and get them. My order was about 100 mini bouquets, they fit in three carts… she did not want to help me, until I demanded it.
While I was there, an elderly woman stopped and asked her if they had single roses for sale. The employee told her if she doesn’t see it out, then they don’t have it. While I was standing there so long, I did notice the single roses, and pointed them out to the lady. How could she not help her.
My next experience was with Starbucks. They did not know their products, and then argued with me about how a drink is made that I’ve been ordering for years.
The store cashiers did not acknowledge me, just kept talking to each other.
It may be a smaller store, with less products to choose from, but the 529/​Barker store will remain my regular with their high quality service and kind employees.

I have been going to this Kroger since opening day. At first the employees were attentive. I guess time has allowed that service has deteriorated. Today I went to the Starbucks and the guy behind the counter took my order. A Carmel Ribbon Crunch. He stated they could not make it. I questioned because his response was in the tone that he did not care. He could not serve me this order. Then he stated they could not serve coffee drinks. I stated Starbucks had no coffee? So I ordered a Cream drink… After all I was ordering it for my daughter. OK Starbucks had no coffee in a Market Place Kroger. Don’t they have a full isle of coffee? It’s not like Blue Bell…

I don’t usually do comments and reviews with grocery stores, but I have to make an exception here. I lost a bag last night that held some very expensive oil and things for a recipe I needed to make. I was worried about going in with nothing but my receipt and good word. But this Kroger handled my issue WONDERFULLY. I wish I had gotten the girl’s name that helped me, but she dropped what she was doing to help me. She gave me wonderful customer service and was so kind and considerate to me. Nothing but a smile and kind words from her. SUCH a wonderful experience. I got all my things and I’m so glad it was fuss free. Thank you, sweet check out girl for helping and listening!

I really love this Kroger because they have everything and I love the samples (lol) but I suppose people don’t like it because of the staff. Personally I haven’t had any major issues with them so I’m okay. I can tell that a lot of them are new and young so I guess that’s a given… But anyways, I like this Kroger because of the Starbucks, the large toy aisle, how it’s close to Bank of America and that it has a really nice gas station. I used to always go to the HEB a little further up, but I’m hardly ever there anymore and I don’t feel safe there either (women getting their purses snatched). I would like to try their food but I always end up at Kroger after 7 so by that time they stop serving dinner haha. I also really like how the aisles are bigger so you don’t really have to work your way around people much, or bump into them. They also have cute little carts for kids: p

I was grocery shopping with my four month old twin girls today and accidentally checked out in the 15 items or less lane. The cashier brought it to my attention over and over again and I apologized like four times. I don’t feel like I should get any special treatment because I have the babies with me but I also don’t think it’s necessary to keep mentioning it. Before I left he said «by the way you’ve done this before» (checking out in the express with more than 15 items) and I said «I don’t think it was me, I usually shop after 9pm» and she said «you have» in a snarky tone. He even made a comment about how he now needs to look up produce codes since I had fruits and vegetables. None of the other lines were long and the one man behind me was very nice and he want in a hurry at all. It was my first time being a new mom taking my girls out and this is how I was treated by an employee of kroger. Shame that a nice new store has such rude employees. I think I’ll make the extra drive to HEB so I don’t ever grocery shop and leave feeling humiliated and on the verge of tears.

Nice store, really big sometimes I can’t find what I need so its definitely not an «in and out» kinda store. The produce department is horrible any leafy greens always have brown on them the zucchini was all destroyed with very little on shelf, what’s with the multi size of everything just to charge more? Avocados very over priced for the hard not ripped product. I will not be going back due to the lack of produce quality and over charge I will stick with HEB.

This Kroger needs a review because someone needs to remind them why they hire cashiers! We go shopping around 8:00 pm once a week usually on a weekday. The two generous stars are because they never have any lanes open! If we are lucky one will be open but good luck because the staff will harass you until you go to the self check out. I will self check out all day if I have one or two items, but not an entire basket full. Last week a manager sent me to the self check out with my full basket and pointed to an employee and said he will take care of you then when I walked over that super «helpful» employees says…“So you got this right” and walks away: O
I hope they stop doing this because other than this we love shopping here, without feeling like I’m at a second job!

Summary– Nice, clean grocery store with lots of space. Lacks some of the selection of the HEB on 290/​Barker Cypress but it’s a little less chaotic and crowded as well. I don’t really get the whole combo store concept, so I could care less about the sweatshirts, socks, and toasters.
I did like their overall Organic selection, but they were lacking in any Organic Fruits to compete with HEB (who has some) and it’s nowhere near a true high end grocer.

Nice selection, affordable, regular sales on products I buy. Very friendly staff– the seafood guy even got a lobster out for my 4 the old to look at up close.
Only problem is the baggers. I worked at a Kroger while in college– we were required to watch a video about how to bag which I recall thinking was ridiculously basic. I think the employees here desperately need to watch that video. The first time I left with 25 (no joke) plastic bags for less than a full cart of food. Most of them had only one item. Now I bring my reusable bags but they can’t seem to look more than two inches in front of their faces– they just pack the next item in line– frozen food on top of warm, apples on top of bread. I now group the items together when I go, but they still can’t get it right. If I wasn’t trying to corral two little boys, I’d bag it myself.
Oh yeah– in house Starbucks (always nice treat while shopping) and LARGE organic/​natural foods aisle. International foods could use more choices there especially the non-​Chinese Asian food (Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, etc), and could not find any middle eastern offerings.

Really nice Kroger. If I had to guess, I would say they put this one in to compete more completely with HEB. In house Starbucks. Nice big parking spaces. Nice bakery, produce, deli, florist. Even a jeweler located in the store.
I wish the meat department had better offerings. Like all the Krogers, the meat department always seems to have a limited selection of cuts. That is always disappointing to me.
This Kroger has a larger household items department, compete with a couple aisles of toys and even some clothing. Not sure if I would go there for that reason, but if I was shopping for food and needed to pick something up I might get it there.
The store is very clean, but it’s new. There were about twenty registers open and almost no waiting, but again… New. I may be back in a few months to update once the new has worn off. That will be the real test.

Brand new ‘Kroger Marketplace’ just opened in the Towne Lake community, and it is unlike any other Kroger I have ever been to.
This is seriously like the mothership of Kroger, it’s huge! First time here and I am already a fan! They have one of the largest organic foods sections I have ever seen. All of the aisles are wide, no worrying about bumping carts with any fools that aren’t paying attention.
This next part part is gonna make you go ‘what?’…
This Kroger sells clothes. Not just a tiny little corner, a larger section dedicated for ‘Fashion’. Tons of options for kiddies and the grown ups. I think it’s kinda weird for a grocery store to carry clothes but whatevs!
Full service Starbucks located near the right entrance with a large sit down area.
I came very late in the evening, almost midnight and when it came to checking out there was not a single register open. Only option was to do self-​check out. I don’t think there will be much waiting for checking out during peak hours because there’s over a dozen of checkout lanes and plenty of self checkout booths too!
This Kroger is open late, very late! Opens at 6AM and closes at 1AM!
I’m an HEB fan because they usually have cheaper prices but this Kroger really impressed me with their incredibly large selection of stuff!
