They have a nice selection of rock and gravel. The service is friendly. It’s easy to shop there. For small quantities, just bring a large bucket and a shovel — $ 10. The rock is much cheaper than the big box home stores, and much better quality. The price of gravel is cheaper or comparable to other local yards.

I ordered 4 yards of topsoil delivered to Fairfield. The driver was very friendly and even made dropping the dirt a fun experience for my 3 year old son. I was although very disappointed in the quality of the dirt. Maybe I expected topsoil to be topsoil, loamy, relatively uniform«topsoil». It was about a third clay, large clumps and will be very difficult to work with as my purpose is gardening. Also — don’t bother calling at 5:01, they will not be there.

Tons of choices per pound.

This place has some strange practices that leave me a bit bitter. 1) if you only need half a yard, 2.00 up charge. When you inquire you get the run around of «that’s always been that way». But last year they didn’t have such weird fees. 2) buying a whole pallet of rocks? Yea you have to have the 50lb pallet weighed as well and included in your price per pound. This was answered with«we’re being charged for pallets and now you are too» They do have a nice selection of mulch, rock, and various types of sands, soil, etc. Just some weird billing policies.
