This is our“go to” winery in Georgia. The wine varies considerably and we have our favorites. If the crowd is light the service is great. Seems there are always unfinished construction on going. Food is good and view is great!

This is an absolutely gorgeous place. It would be a great venue for a wedding or special event. The wine tasting process was quite smooth and well run(at least when we were there), but unfortunately the wine was just not great, which is typical of Georgia wine. It’s worth a visit just to check out the gorgeous location though.

this was such a fun place! We ordered a basic tasting, and then the winemaker came over and gave us an even better one as he described his yummy wines, and how they were grown in the Georgia climate. I am normally a California resident that just moved to Georgia, I was feeling like I was going to never find good wineries again till I came to this winery. I even signed up for the membership!

For a winery in the mountains of northern Georgia, I was impressed. The service was fantastic. Our waiter/pourer/wine expert was a charming young man who knew every bottle like he was the maker. He was very kind and helpful. We tried all of the reds and all of the whites. We had a few favorites but we didn’t love anything enough to buy a bottle. Our favorite of the tasting was, of course, the $ 40 bottle. Order the cheese plate!!! Don’t let the $ 18 price tag deter you. The cheese plate was amazing. There were about 5 different types of cheese, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, mixed nuts with dried fruit, crackers, and what tasted like homemade pimento cheese. 4 adults could barely finish it. It was all delicious! What’s the deal with goldfish crackers? Why not plain crackers or pretzels or something else other than disgusting goldfish crackers.(The other winery we went to used these as well. We have been to wineries all over California and never had goldfish crackers served.) Would I go here again? Probably. Would I suggest it to others? Yes!

Understaffed and completely overrated. This is the second time I’ve been disappointed here. The first time I couldn’t get anyone to give me the time of day much less a taste of wine. This time was almost the same. There were lots of people and only one person working. She was very sweet but clearly not experienced at customer service. She continually answered the phone when there were customers waiting on her. After being there for close to 40 minutes and having only tasted a few of their wines which were average, we left. First time shame on them, second time shame on me. I won’t be back. I can’t believe this place is so highly rated with so many other great wineries in the area.

My wife and I like to do wine tastings and have been to Napa, The German wine route near Baden-Baden, and the Niagara wine region. Since we live in Georgia, we come to North Georgia once a year or so to sample the wines of our home state. We have been here twice, and have been disappointed with the service both times. On the first occasion, in 2013, the wine tasting area was crowded and we waited for 20 minutes or so and were never acknowledged, so we left. Most recently, service was very slow as Frogtown was again crowded, with only one person working the wine tasting area. She was pleasant, but very much overmatched by the crowd. After we tasted three wines in 30 minutes, with the one staff member stuck answering questions on the phone, we decided to leave. The wines we did taste were just average for Georgia. Certainly, they were not worth waiting an inordinate time to taste. Do yourself a favor — don’t go to Frogtown until they get their staffing problems straightened out. There are plenty of other quality wineries in the area.

5 stars for a beautiful vineyard owned by a truly passionate winemaker. We stopped by Frogtown pretty close to closing time. We expected to be rushed through our tasting and shooed out as soon as it was over. Instead, the owner personally lead our tasting and even included extra wines that he enjoyed. He told us about his background, how the vineyard came to be, and really made it a personalized and memorable experience. He also convinced us to join the vineyards«Citizens.» This is a club where you get 4 yearly shipments of special wines and updates on what’s happening at the vineyard. The vineyard itself is also gorgeous. The grapes are well tended and the grounds are lovely. The main building where the tastings take place is spacious and definitely a showstopper. Overall, if you want to try premium wines grown right in Georgia, this is the place to stop.

Good wine but bad attitude from the management. Wine tasting staff is friendly but not a fan of the management. There are too many other wineries in the area that have wine just as good but with a much more welcoming attitude. Don’t plan to come back.

Went for lunch, ordered paninis and waited an hour. The sandwiches never came so we left. If you can’t staff for the load then you can’t manage your business.

I love my wine and love Frogtown Cellars. The atmosphere is stunning. Husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon for wine tasting and lunch and everything was to our liking. Started off with Paninis on the deck w a bottle of wine and followed it by the off dry-sweet tasting flight. The pour is much less than other vineyards I have been to, the top stops at around 1oz, but still worth it. We liked the wine so much we went home with 2 bottles and joined their wine club. Even if you are not big wine drinker the pain is in the deck are worth it.

First off, beautiful view! We went right when they open on Wednesday. My friends tried the dryer wines and I did the sweet. It was a good selection and great company. Even enjoyed the company of the vineyard dog Squirrel who was super friendly and very lovable.

My family came here during our Georgia vacation, and we had the greatest afternoon. We came Sunday and ordered a few bottles of wine, a few cheese plates, and sat on the deck. The view was amazing, overlooking the green vineyards and mountains including Mt Yonah in the background. The deck was spacious so our family could be loud and joking around without bothering anyone. All the pictures we took were gorgeous. I love their Intensity red wine, it is a great balance of sweet and dry red wine. The cheese platter was ok, the cheese was good(the cracked pepper and the smoked cheddar) but some of the cheeses(the meunster and pepperjack) seemed like typical Walmart cheeses. The brie was a bit too smooth for me, and the crackers weren’t great. The cheese plates we had included a small group of green grapes and 1 sliced strawberry. For underaged– they had Coke Diet Coke and Sprite. In the past, I’ve had their wine flights which are wonderful also and I highly recommend them.

This was actually our favorite winery out of all the ones we visited on our tours. It had one of the most beautiful overall venues, the wine was very good and the staff wa super friendly. It just had all the factors we wanted in a winery. It was one of the last places we visited as well. It wasn’t at the top of my list because the tastings were more expensive at $ 15. However, you get plenty of wines and we really enjoyed each and every one of them.

I wanted to like this place, the views were great and when we pulled up on a Friday and saw few cars we thought wow, we’ll have the place to ourselves and it will be a great experience. Well, that never happened. The staff was too busy getting ready for a wedding the next day to even bother with us. It’s like we were in their way and the could care less about anyone coming in for a tasting. We figured we’d give it a chance anyways, and after going through an entire tasting only about 2 wines stood out to me as halfway decent. The girl behind the bar was friendly and knowledgeable but was more like a robot than a human just spitting out the information. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this winery again, unless someone I know is getting married here! Fortunately, 3 Sisters Winery was right next door and we made that our next stop after leaving this unfriendly, no-customer service place!

The Tasting room was closed for a private event. They don’t announce it on their website, there are no signs in the property to inform you, staff just ignores you until you finally get someone’s attention and they tell you to leave the building. The tasting instead, was located in a little deck, no chairs, just 1 guy serving 30 people at the time, dirty dusty tarp, 1 restroom, bland wines… Not going back, not worth the trip. Beautiful landscapes, they make great pictures.

Frogtown offers beautiful views and a large selection of well crafted wines. However, they desperately fall short in the customer service area. As wine club members, we brought friends up for the weekend to do a tasting and were extremely shocked by the service we got. Most of the winery was closed for an event, we were unable to get tastings of member wines, or unable to order food because they did not have enough staff. What made the situation worse was the poor attitude of the woman Jackie behind the bar who talked to use like 2nd class citizens, as well as our guests. I did send the owner a message in hopes of rectifying the situation. However, it took 2 emails to get a response and when I followed up to her email saying«let me know next time you come up to help correct the experience» — I never even got a response. I will be cancelling our wine club membership and taking my business elsewhere — there are plenty of other good vineyards in the area and they actual care about their customers and wine club members. The wine is good, but unfortunately it doesn’t outweigh the terrible customer service.

At least the setting was beautiful? Besides the soaring tasting room, tucked into hills amidst vineyards, and overlooking a lake, I can’t think of many nice things to say about this spot. The whole place is beautiful, but it has that«corporate» feel, which I am beginning to recognize is the thing that I do not like in these North Georgia wineries. This is still Dahlonega, not Napa, and I like the wineries that recognize and even embrace that simple fact. Let’s start with the goldfish here. No, I don’t mean the pretty koi swimming about in the fountain outside the main entrance, I mean their complimentary palate cleansers. While it’s hard to whine about free nibbles, the point of these little carbohydrate offerings is supposed to be to keep your palate neutral and awake between courses. Salty, cheese-y crackers are exactly the opposite of what is supposed to be offered. And, the sloppily dressed server schlepping about with the giant carton straight from Costco and refilling the bowls at our table certainly didn’t help class up this snack(at least take the bowls back behind the bar and refill them there). Onto the service. In addition to the goldfish refilling, she started things off on the wrong foot by making a mistake in the order of wine pouring. She neither brought us a fresh glass nor repeated the mistakenly early poured option at its proper time in the tasting. We waited a good while in between pours, and she generally seemed disinterested. And the tasting here was by far the most expensive of the wineries we tried, at $ 15/flight. Sure, you do get about seven pours, but when you compare that Cavendar’s four pours for $ 5 or Wold Mountain’s five pours for $ 10, it’s not a phenomenal value. Additionally, you have to do your tasting at the bar rather than on the patio, so standing around in one spot while going through seven tastings is quite a while to be standing. I enjoyed all of the wines, but would have preferred a smaller tasting menu option for a lower cost, or at least the option of getting all seven pours at once and taking the drinks to one of the numerous open tables. The setting is beautiful, the wine is good, so if someone else is paying, you can get over being ignored by your server and don’t mind bringing your own snacks, it’s worth a stop.

I heart wine, and since I’m still somewhat new to the South, I’m just getting around to discovering the Southern Wine Country! This place just made my experience so pleasurable. Let me start out by staying that I took off one star for the confusion and dysfunction I experienced that day. We made sure to go early before they got busy, but part of their location was closed off because they were prepping for a wedding(which looked really nice, by the way). Instead of wine, the woman behind the bar inside gave us a glass of «I don’t have time to talk to you right now so I’m just going to ignore you». It had a bad finish with a terrible after taste. So we went up to their patio where non-members could do the wine tasting, and that alone gets 5 stars! The people there were so nice and knowledgeable. You could tell they really enjoyed working at Frogtown and were happy to give you a great experience. We had a larger party of about 7 people and Josh handled our tasting. He was so great in explaining everything, and went into more detail to those of us in the group who were actually there to learn about the wine rather than just drink it. The view was awesome and the service on the patio was great! My advise is to call ahead to see if they are doing a wedding that day. If they are, it might be a little crazy. When we were all there, they ran out of sandwiches and seating and it was a bit of a mess. Oh yeah, and the wine is good, too!!!

My hubs and I were just here this past weekend. We had a great time. I can see how some would question the customer service aspect of this place as there doesn’t seem to be any protocol when you walk in. You basically are to just walk up to the bar and talk to the bartender to start the tastings. If the bar is crowded(like it was when we’d gotten there), you’re basically stuck standing around until space at the bar becomes available. Now they do have dining(and seating for that), but we never saw a hostess of any kind or a waitress for that matter, so I assume you must order food at the bar(like we did) and take your stuff over to any table. Just know that this seems to be more of a «just wing it» kind of place. Nothing wrong with that, but it can be off-putting to someone who doesn’t know that. Anyway, we enjoyed our tasting and our small plates(cheese, fruit, etc.). They have 2 wonderful patios(one that’s covered) that has amazing views of the mountains and the vineyard. Overall, we enjoyed it.

This place is a must go. The venue and scenery is gorgeous. I didn’t see any lounging areas or picnics tables, but there is a beautiful patio that over looks the vineyard and the mountains. Their reds are fantastic. I didn’t try the whites since my favorites are my wine of choice. They are opening during the week, which is when I went since I had family in town. It’s a drive, but so worth it. They serve food during the weekends which is when I’m planning my next trip.
