Apparently I misunderstood when I thought I had prepaid an out of pocket cost of $ 189.00 for a colonoscopy procedure. The day before the procedure the hospital called to confirm my procedure and advised me they would be collecting $ 600.00 for out of pocket expenses. I told them I was told the out of pocket was $ 189.00 and I had paid in the doctors’s office. They told me no they would need the money when I arrived in the morning. I told them I didn’t have an additional $ 600.00 so I cancelled the procedure. After calling Dr Mantas office and telling them what I was told I requested a refund of the $ 189.00 in October. Absolutely NO mention was made at that time of any withholding. In January I called back checking on the refund which I had yet to see and was told they could refund me $ 89.00 but they were withholding $ 100.00 of it for cancelling the day before. A very poor way of doing business and I will never recommend prepaying this doctor or any other’s for anything! Hope my money made your holiday a little nicer doc!
