Service is terrible and we had undercooked food but it’s a nice atmosphere I wish they could do better overall, with quality and details

Bar Louie… It’s okay. No sweet tea so, down a star for me. Call me crazy, but I judge a restaurant by their sweet tea and being from Texas, the lack of this delicious drink is disappointing. The food is okay, I think I was just super hungry and thought it was the most amazing thing, but half way through my meal I realized it was average. Loaded tater tots, they tasted amazing at first but once you get past the top layer of them the bottom tots are soggy and gross. Eh, pass on those. Probably coming back, maybe we’ll get something different next time but until then, 3 stars from this Unilocaler.

Such a neat spot, if you’ve never been in this shopping area, it is a bit hard to find. Entrance I came in didn’t have a Bar Louie sign anywhere, but was able to find after a minute of driving around. Inside is cute, very open and inviting. They also have a big patio outside that is pretty cool and let you smoke on, but open enough can’t smell it. Friendly service, yummy spinach and artichoke dip. Could see coming here more often if I’m out this way. Cheers!

Great place to meet a large group! The servers were on it, kept your glass full and checking in on you on a consistent basis. Will definitely go again.

Service isn’t the greatest, but their HH specials rock! $ 5 martinis? Yes, please! They have plenty to chose from, too, even if you’re not a big martini fan. That, coupled with their half priced appetizers, and you can’t go wrong.

So full disclosure, I didn’t eat inside the restaurant. I was looking for some baked mac & cheese, saw it on their menu online, and decided to get it as takeout. But, and this is one of the demerits, for a Wednesday night where the place was far from full, our food took forever. The staff was friendly enough, but it was a lot of waiting around for what looked like a fairly slow night. Then, by the time I got my order, it was wrong. They’d added grilled chicken, which wasn’t particularly tasty, but no big deal, I could just eat around it. But the mac and cheese itself was thin and watery with a nacho cheese flavor to it raher than the richer, cheesier kind of flavor I was hoping for. All-in-all, it was middling-to-bad food that I had to wait a long time for. Didn’t really make me want to explore the place or the menu any further.

Best happy hour in my opinion! 3.35 draft beer included craft beers and imoorts, 4.25 wine by the glass(did I mention it’s all the wines — Kim Crawford sav blanc and McMurray pinot nor to name just a few) and 5.25 specialty hand crafted martinis(made with the good stuff examples makers, Hennessey vsop and top notch vodkas) plus half of a large selection of apps from their scratch kitchen. Mon-fri 4 – 7. Great spot for Corp happy hours or a get together with my girls!!! I will be there often :) love me some bar louie

I hate to write this review as I continued to maintain hope for this place, but tonight was the last straw. As usual, we walked in and waited for the server to realize we were there, despite making eye contact when we came in. We took a seat near the bar to ensure we could get their attention if needed. It’s worth pointing out at this point that we’re not particularly needy — we know that Bar Louie struggles to notice when customers walk in, even on slow nights like tonight. About 5 minutes later, while waiting to order drinks, we noticed some loud laughter and chatter; when I turned, we realized it wasn’t another guest, but the bar tender(s) and wait staff drinking together behind the bar. I saw red bulls being shotgunned before one of the team members slowly approached our table. It may have happened faster, but she was busy having a conversation on her way. Time elapsed: 10 minutes She asked how we were doing, to which we responded ‘Well, we’ve been waiting a while, but otherwise good. She said nothing except to ask if she could get us something to drink. She went to get our drinks from the bar and immediately carried them into the kitchen. As we hadn’t ordered any food at this point and the restaurant was practically empty, we decided it would probably be smart to leave — no real good explanation for her to vanish into the back with our drinks… This isn’t our first, second or third issue with Bar Louie. Their food used to be great and waitstaff decent, but it has gone terribly wrong over the last year or so. Sad waste of a formerly good place. Where’s the management? How can they employ waitstaff who obviously don’t care to do their job. Terrible.

The environment and vibe of this place is awesome. Dimly lit, and very hipster. The food I ordered was not that great at all. I ordered the brisket sliders and was expecting the brisket to be chopped. Should I have specified that when ordering? It came sliced so it was extremely chewy and hard to eat. Allllllmost like beef jerky. And not worth the price for an appetizer-sized meal. I’ll be back for the drinks, vibe, and cool live music(nice touch!) but not for the food.

I’m a huge Bar Louie fan. I’ve been to many locations in Texas. La Cantera located in San Antonio being my favorite. This particular location is my least favorite. The service is always terrible. It’s always so awkward walking into this bar with no hostess for assistance and searching for a table on your own. I’ve ordered many items on different occasions and the food is ALWAYS cold… It never fails. I’ll give this bar Louie two stars because their cocktails are consistent.

Great space and atmosphere. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Good place to watch sports or just gather with friends. Large number of beers on draft and an indoor and an outdoor patio bar. So why the 3 star rating, food was tasty and well presented. My complaint was with my meal the taco shells were stale. I requested replacements the were the same.

This place is sadly overpriced and horrible in taste. I know not all of these chain restaurants are this bad because we go to several of them in Indiana and they are all great. The only thing that we found good was the loaded tots but all of our dishes were fairly bland especially for dishing out 80 bucks on this lunch. The veggie wrap was pretty seasonless in and the voodoo chicken is really nothing without the voodoo sauce which came with it but was very liquidy and much flavor to it. The macaroni looked great but tasted anything but cheesy. The fish and chips were nothing what we expected; the menu indicates beer battered but they certainly were not battered and had no salt to them and we were only given 3 spits of fish. The server even forgot to give us a soup that was ordered. Unfortunately, this is one place I care to not to come back to.

This was my second visit to Bar Louie and it was just about the same as the first.(6 months apart). The actual place is really cool– its open seating, which can be a blessing or a curse, with plenty of options inside or outside! I generally move towards the table tops inside because I love the studded chairs. The service has been mediocre. I’m not sure if their servers are lazy or over booked with tables but it should NEVER take 20 minutes to receive water. Come on. Although slow, servers were always nice! Drinks were very good– I suggest martinis either the Lemon or my favorite, cucumber. So refreshing and light! Food wasn’t too bad– we got appetizers both times we went. Salmon sliders, bruschetta, boneless wings and dumplings were all awesome! 4 stars for those items. HOWEVER, the chicken lettuce wraps were hardly chicken. I kid you not, maybe 1⁄8 of the mixture they give you is chicken. There is an overload of flavor which is pretty good– to mask the fact that it’s mostly these stringy crunchy Asian things NOT chicken. I had to deliberately dig to find pieces. Better off going to PF Changs or PEi Wei for lettuce wraps. Overall a pretty good experience, wish I could give more stars but the lack of service 2 times and the really unfortunate finding of the lettuce wraps leaves me at a 3.

Awesome beer selection and above average bar food, but the drink service is ridiculously slow during happy hour. First beers took 30 minutes to arrive the second round a full hour after we asked about it three times. We gave up after that. What good is cheap beer if you can’t actually drink it? Going here was my suggestion but I’m not sure I can ever suggest this place for happy hour to my friends ever again. I’d say 3-stars if you come outside of happy hour. Probably 1 star during HH due to the slow drink service. Food did come out in a reasonable amount of time so the kitchen staff is doing their job. They just need more staff to pull on beer taps.

I kept on hearing how this was such a great bar so I met up for some drinks. We sat on the patio. This was on a Saturday, not just any Saturday but the Mayweather Paq fight night. I kid you not there was NOONE there. It took our waitress a bit of a while to come wait us. As usual, I have to ask what’s the fruitiest drink. I was recommended the Honeydew and the Diva. The honeydew was really good. I could see me drinking that out of a coconut shell come where on the beach. We ordered Calamari. This was the best calamari I’ve had. They actually had the whole piece of squid. Normally the manage to serve the squid pieces that look like onion rings. They were battered lightly. Just really good. I then ordered the Diva. It was good until you swallowed. It had a nasty tart cough syrup after taste. I’m sure it was because of the pomegranate syrup. Then I decided I was hungry and ordered the ginger shrimp lettuce wraps. It came to the table and it was not a lettuce wrap but a scoop. They give you several lettuce leafs and then you scoop the shrimp onto the leaf. I like the shrimp. Tasted great but I didn’t not like the concept. It’s misleading.

I came here to kill time before the ModMarket Unilocal event. If you’re not familiar with the area, this place can be hard to find… UGH I finally found it… got a great parking spot and went in and copped a perfect spot at the bar. The bartender presented me with a drink menu and happy hour specials and of course I went with old faithful… long island ice-t w/a tequila shot to follow. The atmosphere is very laid back and chill, nice drink specials… service was kind of laxed and they weren’t busy. I’ll definitely come back because I liked the environment and I saw some interesting food items on the menu I’d like to try out. Stay tuned for an updated review! :-)

A couple weeks ago, some friends and I went to the Dallas incarnation of Bar Louie for a friend’s birthday party. I’m not sure why this bar was picked, but oh well. When I used to go to Park Tavern(bar at the old location,) I remember how crowded it got on Fridays and Saturdays. However, when we rolled up on a rainy Saturday, we remarked at how the bar was only MAYBE25−35% filled. Oh well, we took our seats with our party of 8. After a couple minutes(read=10 or more) of looking over the drink menu, our waiter came over for our drinker order. Since the wife and I didn’t want to partake in their martini or cocktail menu, I asked if the beer menu was current. He went to check. 5 to 10 minutes later, he returned to let us know that about 8 or 9(including Coors Light and Miller Light?) were out. Whatevs, I ordered my craft beer, as did the Mrs. I’ll also note that whenever our table asked for suggestions about drinks, our waiter’s only response was«I don’t know. I only drink whiskey straight.» Super helpful, right? The one shining gem for Bar Louie are their appetizers. There are incredibly on point and came out super fast. After about a half hour of our table talking about The Sims and eating this, the place thinned out even more so. The place was maybe 25% at most full and that’s counting the other 2 parties of 8+ for birthday parties. I guess this is like a run down Chuck E Cheese’s for adults? Then, we went to order or entrees. Big mistake. Even though the place was maybe 25% full, we were told that it was an hour wait for food. I’ve been in bustling bars and gotten food much quicker. A super slow Saturday night where they had to be with peak staff and there’s an hour wait for food? Pretty fucking weak. After 2+ hours inside, we were also only asked for another drink order once. And don’t worry. The food we received for entrees weren’t worth the hour wait. It’s like waiting a lifetime to have sex and then finding out at the age of 40 that your first time will be with a sweaty Louie Anderson. The fish kabob thing on a plate of shrimp fried rice resembled something you would see thrown together at a Chinese bodega, not somewhere trying to be casual upscale American bar cuisine. Here’s my prediction for $.05: In another year, Bar Louie will go the way of Park Tavern and our waiter will be at another bar telling other unimpressed patrons that he only drinks whiskey straight. No one cares and we won’t be back. Deuces.

We decided to come here for Valentines brunch since I had to go to work afterwards. Its okay. For a very large restaurant/bar, it was very under staff. I loved our waiter, but the staff seems to be over worked for the amount of people that showed up. The food was okay. I had the fish and chips. Wife had some Asian fusion wraps. Good to try once.

I am so glad a place like Bar Louie has moved into the shops of Park Lane. This area is really close to my house and I frequent it often. I was really bummed with Park Tavern closed because it was my go to spot. But can I say Bar Louie is way better then Park Tavern. The atmosphere is great, they updated the décor, the seating is better and the food is way better! Both times I have visited Bar Louie I ended up trying the fries and they are so good. They put some special seasoning on them and they are thin and crispy. I also tried their burger, it was decent but not much flavor. The meat was good but I think it just didn’t hit the spot for me. I will definitely be back to try other items. They have several TVs here and it’s the perfect spot to watch games. Also, I like that the kitchen stays open until 2am, some places in the area don’t. I will definitely be back and can’t wait till my next visit. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

This is my second grand opening of a Bar Louie location in a year. As expected, everyone was friendly and went above and beyond in serving us. We arrived a little after 5pm on Friday. The restaurant was not too crowded so we were able to find a table easily. This location seemed a little more lively than the Firewheel location as waitresses did a chant every hour and every employee seemed to be having a great time. We ordered the tempura shrimp, szechuan chicken and the short rib sliders. I had low expectations for the sliders as I tasted their cheeseburger sliders previously and it was too dry. Not the case for the short rib sliders. They were delicious! I was sad to learn they were only serving half of their menu as part of the free appetizer/$ 2 martini grand opening special. Of course this was the day they chose not to serve my favorite martini, the honeydew. It worked out as I learned the clover martini was a great backup. As expected, my husband and I had a great time and have confirmed we are Bar Louie fans for life!
