For good mexican food for a little more, keep driving down the road to Avilas and you will not be disappointed. My menudo was watered down and was literally flavorless which is unusual for menudo. The parillada I ordered was alright but the chicken was either over cooked or in the freezer to long. I will not be coming back.

Yo comí chilaquiles con barbacoa para desayuno y lo fue rico! Pretty authentic if you ask me and the ambiance definitely reminds me of MX. Tortilla chips are made fresh on site and they were noticeably better than the tex mex places around here.

It was so loud in there we couldn’t hear each other or the girl at the counter to order our food. It was so loud I felt like I was at a Metallica concert next to the speakers. We went to El Rey instead, which is just next door. The food may be good from other reviews but if you want to have a conversation and have your order heard find out if they are going to have music or not.

Great authentic Mexican food. The place is nothing fancy but good food at great prices not a bad deal at all.

As a New Yorker, this was fantastic authentic feeling and tasting Mexicana cuisine. The prices and servings are fantastic. The business is welcoming and fast served. Not too many people inside but the food speaks for itself.

I would say Barbacoa Agave & Seafood is worth a try when you’re in the Oaklawn area. They’ve got several options to choose from on the menu and it’s moderately priced. I visited this location for lunch with a five dollar voucher and had a delicious burrito and tried a barbacoa taco which was very good. Unfortunately they didn’t have the cactus salad. I tried one of the churros but can’t say I was particularly impressed compared to those I have had in Mexico and other Dallas area restaurants. Like I said before they’ve got a wonderful menu and I look forward to trying out other items soon. They’ve even got a small selection of Mexican sweets.

This place is good! The place itself may be simple, with music blaring to some extent(although not loud enough that you can’t comfortably talk to and hear each other), but the food is pretty delicious and inexpensive! We came here for lunch and directly sat down and ordered. The lunch specials are really cheap(on average $ 6.99): i got the chicken burrito platter(see picture) and it was delicious, and came with rice and beans as well as small«salad» on the side. My friends got the half pound of lamb barbacoa(which comes out in this huge platter that keeps it moist and hot while you dole out portions to eat) and the steak fajita platter(which was a bit on the small side, meat-wise), which they both liked a lot. At the end, we all felt satisfied and full but not having over-eaten, or over-spent for that matter. We got some churros to go, chocolate and strawberry ones, and they were pretty tasty, especially with some coffee on the side(we got coffee at work and at there, YUM)! Good place to grab lunch if you’re at work, a satisfying, tasty meal that doesn’t break the bank!

Dear god what an experience!!! The food was fucking awesome I ordered this thing that was a hot plate with shrimp, fajita meats, sausage, onions, and chicken in it. I’ve seen it at other places but cannot remember today what its called. It was 23.99 feeds two it says. Bullshit, It feeds more like four! Between three people we managed to finish just under 75% of the dish. The waiter was awesome he brought out this trash can and showed us how to explode corona bottles with our bare hands. He gave us so much extra like 3 different types of salsa a HUGE plate of home made guac. No extra charge. Later the most hilarious thing happened. A group of guys in a jaguar came into the place trying to sell 24 packs of beer. I dunno why they had a Jaguar full of beer or why there were selling it but it was hilarious.

Good food, great selections, tacos, tortas, gorditas, huaraches, entrée platters and seafood: the kitchen is small so don’t be in a rush. I truly enjoyed the Chicharron Huaraches(hint: they aren’t crunchy). Man food.
