This is hands-down the best sushi I’ve ever had. When I moved out to Oklahoma from New York I couldn’t find good sushi nearby. We went to Dallas and checked this place out and it was incredible. My husband even got an entrée. It was a salmon dish and I couldn’t even describe to you how amazing it was. We stop here whenever we go to Dallas.

This place deserves all the stars. Their happy hour pricing is seriously a STEAL– and the portions were amazing. Being the foodies that my friend and I are, we ordered(and finished!) 3 appetizers and 4 sushi rolls… These are our thoughts: 1) edamame: can’t go wrong with an order of the ubiquitous sushi starter. We did not opt for the spiced version and we’re happy with the amount provided. 2) Mango Crab Rangoon: This was SOSO good. We inhaled this. I have no words, it was so fresh and flavorful. Get this, get it now. 3) Vegetable Tempura: I loved the fact that they included a sweet potato AND an avocado as part of this! Have you ever had a tempura fried avocado?! Now you have and you won’t want to reconsider! 4) Crunchy Blue Roll:(spicy crab, crispy panko, eel sauce) — I liked this, it wasn’t anything amazing but the flavors are so fresh. 5) Eden Roll:(Vegan tempura sweet potato, grilled asparagus.) don’t let the vegetarian game fool you, this roll is actually one of my favorites. It’s an amazing roll filled with real flavor. I devoured it. 6) Hawaiian Roll:(tempura fried with crab, mango, mango purée) — by far our favorite. It’s. Game changer. The mango… Omg the mango… 7) Spicy Tako:(octopus). This was OK. It has good consistency with the seafood– no complaints.

My husband liked it more than I did. One of my favorite items to order is the yellowtail sashimi. This is the first place I’ve ordered it where they sear the edges. I like it raw and creamy. I felt that the quantity of fish they put in the rolls was pretty low. I tasted more rice than anything else. The food did taste fresh and the service was good.

I found this GREAT Sushi restaurant for lunch and loved it so much I came back here the next night for dinner with my wife. First of all– the parking garage was plenty big enough for there to be several spaces open both at lunch time and on a Thursday night for dinner. AND the garage is right next to the restaurant. The décor of the restaurant was striking. Obviously the theme is «blue». On the walls, the pictures and murals were done with this cleverly pointillistic modern style. The lighting gave the whole restaurant a «bluish haze», which you can sense from the pictures I took. On the back wall was a portrait of a Japanese woman and had origami shapes. And overhead was a HUGE blue oragami that functioned both as blue lighting and a piece of art that gave the restaurant a very modern look. Decorating the bar were huge vats of Saki wrapped in burlap with Japanese writing on them and 100s of Sapporo beer cans. The décor and the lighting all came together to give this place a chic, modern vibe. We got there about 5:30 to try and take advantage of the happy hour and as it turned out, there were a lot of people with the same idea as us! They have a great lounge and bar area and even a great outdoor sitting area, but it was cold, and because the bar and lounge was crowded, we sat at a table. They have a great happy hour with not only drink specials, but also a whole menu of sushi and sashimi as well. after perusing the drink menu I ordered the dirty blue martini with vodka and blue cheese stuffed olives and it was phenomenal. The wife got the bluetini, which was blueberry-infused vodka, raspberry liqueur, fresh lime juice and simple syrup. It was also very good. Unilocal had a special free edamame, so we took advantage of that. The edamame were hot and fresh and lightly sprinkled with sea salt. Off the happy hour menu, we ordered the ceviche-style hirame which had white fish, Japanese cucumber, shallot, cilantro, lime juice, and black pepper. We also got the California Roll, and the crunchy Blue roll, which was essentially a California roll with«crunchy crab» on the top. From the main menu, we also ordered the Escolar sashimi– aka– super white tuna. It was cold, soft, silky and melted in our mouths. For dessert, we ordered 2 things: One of which I can’t remember the name. but it was egg roll shells stuffed with dark chocolate and nuts stood up on top of a scoop of raspberry ice cream. The wife had green tea ice cream which was huge and could have been shared by 4 people! The wait staff was awesome! Very friendly and helpful with the menu. They took the time to explain everything to us and checked on us without being intrusive. We will DEFINITELY be back again. GREAT restaurant!!!

I was around the Dallas area and wanted some sushi so decided to stop by here and check it out. The ceviche was a disappointment along with their sushi. I forgot which one roll we gotten but it was horrible. They stuff so much cream cheese in it that would make you think it’s a cream cheese sushi roll. Drinks were watered down and service was just barely there. Also the pricing for the food here doesn’t justify for the quality of sushi here. Way too overpriced for some below average sushi. Definitely not the place to get sushi or sashimi at. I would skip this place and just go to asian mint which is not far from there.

We were super excited to check this place out since the majority of the reviews were so high. That being said… It was a major disappointment. I’m not typically one to write a review good or bad, but here is our experience broken down: 1. Service was insanely slow. We came on a Sunday afternoon during their happy hour and the place was about 20% full. Waited over 10 minutes to be helped and once the waiter took our order(of our starting 4 rolls) he came back 10 minutes later telling us he forgot and had to re-ask us so he could give it to the kitchen. OK– I’ll give them a free pass, people make mistakes and I totally get that. I’m not letting that affect my opinion on the food. We ordered a Hawaiian Roll, Cabo Roll, Crunchy Blue and the Snow White and for appetizer we threw in the shishito peppers. I must say that the menu and descriptions looked great. Poetic wording leaving us with a drool worthy picture to think about while we waited Shishito peppers came out first. I’d say 80% were burnt. And I’m not talking about a good olé char. These suckers were black and soaked in sauce. So much so that after a few bites we slid them to the side and couldn’t finish The four rolls came out at the same time which was great. But after trying out each one we both came to the same conclusion that they lacked any sort of depth of flavor. They were packed so much with imitation crab that the good stuff was BARELY added. The Snow White was by far the most disappointing and down right unpleasant visually. It looked like a toddler tried to stuff lettuce and avocado into sushi paper. The sea bass had no taste and was about the size of a marble. All in all — the four rolls mentioned above looked and tasted as if we picked them up from the sushi section of a grocery store. Unfortunately we will not be returning customers and left feeling unsatisfied.

This place isn’t a great value. Pricing is in the higher end of what I’m willing to pay. Quality is average, so you should only come here for happy hour. I’m a stickler for this, but they don’t make their sushi rice correctly. There was no discernable rice vinegar or sugar notes. This destabilized the flavor of their rolls and Nigiri. You wouldn’t think that something like rice preparation is crucial. However, in this instance, if really affects the overall taste of their end products because it’s the foundation of a lot of their menu. Fish quality was very fresh and tasty though. Beautiful presentation in a wood box, lined with ice Daikon strings and same leaves.

SUNDAY all day happy hour– enough said. I have been to Blue Sushi Sake several times, and I mainly come here on Sundays. I have rarely been here(1 – 2 times) outside of happy hour because During peak hours on Sunday, it does get pretty crowded. The restaurant is not HUGE, and it does get loud when they are at full capacity. They have a bar, with stools, tables and loungers. Then on the restaurant side you can sit at the sushi bar or at a table. The good, the bad, and the ugly of the place– Good– I think the fish here is delicious. I’ve never had any sushi/sashimi/rolls that tasted bad or that I would not order again. I love the yellowtail serrano, snow white roll, cabo roll, crunchy l.a.(I get the sauce they drizzle on top on the side because I am not a fan of sweet chili sauces), lettuce wraps, dumplings, etc. etc. My all time favorite are the CHERRYBOMBS– if you order them you will not regret it. Additionally, there are several vegan rolls on the menu. That is something you do not typically see at a sushi restaurant, and they are really good too. Their happy hour menu is pretty extensive compared to most sushi restaurants in Dallas that only offer 4 – 6 choices during happy hour. They have raw and cooked rolls on happy hour. Sake, martinis, etc. are on happy hour too. Bad– It can get loud when the restaurant side is full, but it’s not very noticeable on the bar side seating area though. Off happy hour prices are hit or miss, as far as, the price. Some rolls are reasonable, others are pricey. A rodeo roll(seared tenderloin, shrimp tempura, avocado, cilantro, radish sprouts, sriracha-fried onion rings, fresno pepper aioli) is delicious, and has 8 pieces, but it will run you $ 17. Only one cold and one hot sake are on happy hour, which is a bummer at a sushi restaurant. The calamari is a complete miss for me, and is probably the only menu item I would never order again. Service, which I completely review at the bottom. Ugly– The rolls are rolled TERRIBLY! This alone would be enough to turn most people away. There is unequal distribution of ingredients throughout the roll, unequal pieces in each roll(some pieces are large while others are small), unequal rice. In every roll, the ends are rice and seaweed. That equals 2 – 4 pieces in every roll that have no fish, crab, cucumber, avocado, etc. Again, this is the main reason to go during happy hour and ordering off the happy hour menu ONLY. Each time I go here the quality goes a little downhill on the attention to detail in the rolls. Additionally, they slices of yellowtail serrano are not equal thickness nor are the pieces of tuna on the cherry bombs equal. Again a reason to never come back for most people. I will tell you my visits here have become much less frequent here. When they first opened I was coming once a week, not my visits have lessened. The attention to detail has been lost in the fury to grow, and as Blue Sushi sake has become more popular. Overall, the service has been good on my visits. In the past, they were great, but as time passes it becomes more mediocre. The waitress last night(Sunday all day happy hour) told our table happy hour ended at 6:30 pm. Wrong! Also, I ordered cold sake. I told her they usually charge me for 5 off the happy hour menu so they can bring a small carafe to the table(trying to avoid constantly having to hunt waitstaff down for drinks). The small carafe came to the table, and it was the wrong cold sake. Also, the tv’s no longer play beautiful oceanesque videos. Yeah, the same videos were getting cumbersome and boring to people who were coming here often and saw the same videos; however, there are several videos out there to switch it up some. Or play sports or something you can watch without sound. The subtitled movies that are playing are completely lame and a waster for the large screens.

Deafly my favorite sushi restaurant in all Dallas-Fort Worth! You don’t need to pay $ 15 a roll they have happy hour every single Sunday all day long and every day after 3 o’clock. The average roll here is $ 5.50, and the house margaritas are strong and good for $ 3.50! Peggy is a great manager and the waitstaff is always been super amazing. Recommend highly and have fun!

Service could have been a little faster, but I understand this is a new location of an existing restaurant.(I have eaten at the Fort Worth location many times.) A good sushi restaurant to bring your vegetarian friends to. Their veggie rolls are actually GOOD. I highly recommend the crunchy cabbage roll. Sunday is all-day happy hour.

This is my second review for this place. Since my first visit, I have been here 3 more times.(It’s right by my house). This time, the sushi was«meh», at best. I got the rainbow roll and the fish was honestly dry and chewy. The fish on top was so thinly sliced it was like it was barely even there. The crab inside the roll was old tasting and the whole roll together just tasted stale. I asked for spicy mayo to drown it in. I also got a spicy salmon handroll. $ 6.50, but then they charge you $.50 for the«handroll» part. Don’t really understand why because there was barely any salmon inside. My brother in law got the LA roll or something off the happy hour menu and it was nasty. Sweet sauce on top of a basic overly rice filled roll. not good. I don’t know if it was the day I came, but it really made us not want to come.

Came here for happy hour with a few friends. The entire area around the restaurant is very new but already pretty lively. We didn’t have any trouble getting a table, which was nice. Their happy hour prices are pretty good(~ $ 5.50 per basic roll). We ordered a tuna tower off the regular menu(couldn’t resist) and it was delicious! They were very generous with the tuna, avocado, and crab. We also ordered edamame hummus, blue balls, the hawaiian roll, and the spicy sake roll. Everything was pretty good, but nothing spectacular besides the tuna tower. Oh, I also ordered a malibu mango, which unfortunately tasted like straight vodka with an orange/mango afterthought. My favorite part of the whole experience was watching the animal planet/polar bears/otters/seals on all their TVs, haha.

Service was great, but the sushi was not. We got the Negi Hama(yellowtail) roll, Spicy Tekka(salmon), and Spicy Tuna. All the rolls were subpar. The quality of the fish wasn’t great, and the fish’s flavor was overpowered by sesame seeds on the outside of the roll. The sushi rice was also dry and crumbly instead of moist and slightly sticky. The Snow White roll(seabass) wasn’t bad, but it tasted like I was eating a western wrap instead of sushi. The Yellowtail Serrano was fine when I ate it without the pepper, but the fish quality was not what I was hoping for. The Tempura Shrimp was not made with light traditional batter. Instead it was made with the thick batter used for tempura that accompanies noodle soup. Service was great, and since we came during Happy Hour, the price was decent(~$ 25 a person). But the quality of the food was disappointing. There are better places in the area for a similar price, so I probably will not be back.

Nice sushi joint with a cool atmosphere! This place is fit for families, casual date night, girls outing, whatever. I liked the interior decorations, complete with blue accents and a big TV screen placed above the sushi bar playing a Planet Earth-esque film of deep sea creatures and ocean life. It all definitely added to the pleasant experience of eating there. Go during happy hour for an early dinner, or reverse happy hour for late night munchies! Mon-saturday 3 – 6:30pm, fri-sat 10:30-midnight, and sunday all day. And nearly all of their normal sushi rolls(maki) are on the happy hour menu. They’re normally $ 8-$ 15 but during happy hour you can get them for $ 5.50! Also don’t forget to check in on Unilocal for a complimentary bowl of regular or spicy edamame! Thanks to happy hour goodness, our meal of 5 rolls and edamame was $ 30 instead of $ 55! The sushi was quite good in terms of flavor, but the rolls were on the smaller side so I would’ve felt a little ripped off had I been paying full price. I don’t know if that was because I was there during happy hour but the piece count was the same as full price and other reviewers have said it should be the same size order. The Crunchy Blue was really good, deep fried but the crunchy coating was light and delectable rather than heavy and taste-obscuring like other fried sushis I’ve had before. The Hawaiian roll was also surprisingly pretty when it came out, mango purée plus mango in the middle of the roll were a nice change! And the yellowtail in the negi hama maki was soooo good, ask for extra green onion in it because it adds so much flavor! I’m usually a salmon kind of girl but Blue Sushi’s yellowtail just knocked it out of the park, plus you get 8 pieces of it! :D I wouldn’t come here if I had to pay normal price but would definitely come back for more Happy Hour noms!

I loved the atmosphere and interior of this place. Very hip and trendy. However, the sushi was not good at all… Granted we got the happy hour sushi menu but all the rolls we got were below par. The fried calamari was undercooked and there were more fried red pepper and sweet potato than the calamari. At least the sauce was tasty. The only good thing about the sushi rolls were the big portion. Hawaiian roll was interesting with this mango purée, baked salmon, crab and mango. But I don’t even think you can call this a sushi roll. Crunch blue was okay, the eel sauce was what made it better but it was nothing special. The raw sushi rolls were even worse. I would avoid the raw rolls… I was starving and the food all tasted blah. I was highly disappointed with this place. I think they tried to make their menu way too modern and«cool» but it just didn’t work. The variety of the cocktail selection was nice and our drinks were pretty good. But they do not have drink specials during reverse happy hour. How weird is that… Isn’t the whole point of happy hour to drink alcohol at a reduced price? Lol I still had fun with my friends but honestly I would avoid this place. It was completely empty on a Saturday night when reverse happy hour started. On top of that, the service was super slow and our server was not friendly at all which made the whole experience even more unpleasant. Maybe I’ll try this place again later if my friends want to because I actually really liked the interior of the restaurant, but I won’t be coming back with a hungry appetite.

I found out about this place through Facebook advertising. I’m glad that I found it! I went on a Saturday afternoon for their happy hour. The happy hour times are Monday-Saturday 3 – 6:30 p.m., Friday+Saturday 10:30 p.m.-midnight, Sunday noon-10 p.m. I think these are cool happy hour times! This place has been open for a while, but when we arrived, there were not a lot of people there and this was happy hour time… but I digress… The décor is asian modern, and I love the shade of blue used on the ceiling fixtures and the cool King Kongish type art! We ordered 4 sushi rolls. I can’t remember all of the names but they were all delicious! The hawaiian rolls were wonderful in a sweet, mango sauce. They have a huge variety of food items just for happy hour, which is refreshing ! As far as the drinks, we only ordered the house margaritas… they lacked a bit. They could have used more liquor and less ice. I don’t think there was a frozen version. Oh, and thanks Unilocal for the complimentary Edamame! The spicy was delish! Overall, I will be back just for the funky décor, great sushi, and ambience! BTW, if you need to make a Trader Joe’s run, it’s in the same shopping center :)

I give this place props for the uniqueness and trying to branch out but to be honest their sushi is just not that good. I went here for the Friday happy hour menu, and everything we got was just sub par if that. I ordered the iguana roll, the ceviche, and tuna tataki. The ceviche was delicious but there wasn’t nearly enough fish in it and the ginger overpowered the flavor in everything. The tataki meat was so delicious and soft but it was ruined by the black pepper taste that it was covered in. If you check in though you get free edamame which is nice! The spicy edamame was good and something different from other places.

I think the stock 3-star«A-OK» description fits well. I drive past daily on my commute, and after noticing the reviews on Unilocal decided to go early tonight for dinner. It turns out if you get in before 6:30pm you can get happy hour prices, which was a pleasant surprise. It saved a good bit of money. Wish I had checked in beforehand, and I could’ve taken advantage of the free edamame. We got in early and were seated right away, and this place is nice inside. Just really trendy sushi décor, not over the top, but beautiful. It was one of the nicest looking Sushi restaurants I’ve been to in the area. The waiter was just OK. It seemed he was perturbed the whole time that we brought a toddler with us. Sorry folks, if you want Mom and Dad’s dollar, kid’s get to eat too. The little guy was super well behaved, and as responsible parents we always help clean his area before we leave. The food was hit and miss, some stellar, and some just plain bad: — Edamame was great, came out fast, well cooked –Yellowtail Serrano — best part of the meal, simple and delicious(reminded me of Nobu’s jalapeño and yellowtail… at half the price) — Veggie Tempura — it was bad. It was overcooked and too dark, must’ve stayed in the fryer too long, because it dripped grease when you ate it. — Chicken Satay — terrible. We were giving it to the little guy, and when I finally tried some it was so tough and dry. Flavors were off, even with the peanut sauce. It was shoe leather. –Avocado Roll — good, simple, hard to mess up — Hawaiian Roll — great! The fresh mango inside was fantastic, as was the mango sauce; expected it to be sweet but it was well balanced. — The nigiri was pretty straightforward, tasted fresh, sliced well As we were about to leave the manager did a random check in to see how it went. Normally I say fine and move on, but he seemed genuine. I just noted a couple points(same as above) and said we had already decided it probably wouldn’t warrant a second visit. He was very interested and offered a card for free edamame next time(I only later learned I could’ve gotten that free already with a check in…) Not sure Blue Sushi, some nice highs, and some lows.

After spending over $ 40 on sushi at Blue, we drove through In-and-Out Burger. There is something wrong when you have to eat a second dinner. We had four sushi maki(rolls): The Hawaiian, Cabo, The Edan, and saba oshizushi. The ladder roll was a specialty roll made up of mackerel, yellowtail, spring onion, lemon, and ginger. There was no spring onion, and not much fish in the roll. The lemon was sliced extremely thin, and still had the rind on it. This made the lemon flavor so overpowering that I could not taste the fish or ginger. Ginger packs a punch, so it’s incredible that it was rendered flavorless. I took the lemon off the rest of the roll, and I could at least taste the other ingredients. It was during the de-lemoning that I realized how small the portions were. The lemon rolls were about the size of a quarter. The Cabo roll was also petite, but tasted good. The Hawaiian(which was tasty) only has five pieces to it. There was not much food on the plate. My favorite roll was a vegetarian selection — The Edan. It includes asperagus, and was a bit of a different choice from our usual sushi pick. The main reason I am giving this restaurant two stars is because of the portion size. The taste of the food was OK, but I wasn’t blown away by anything. At other sushi restaurants, $ 40 worth of sushi normally has me absolutely stuffed. After eating at Blue, I was still hungry enough to eat a burger. Essentially, dinner was actually $ 50 after you include our quick stop at In-and-Out.
