I love the Sammons Center, but this café is one of the most disappointing parts of an otherwise wonderful center. Café Charles is on the second floor. It’s really the only place to get food in the building. While it officially closes at 3:00, most food is deliberately put away by 2:00, and many choices, such as salad, are gone well before that and not refilled. I’ve never seen a table cleaned; people just make do with the least dirty table they can find. The baked potato is good, and the pre-made Caesar salad is fair. But my advice is to come right when they open, or skip it.

Outstanding and healthy food choices at a reasonable price! The ambiance is five star. Lavish décor and peaceful once you get past the lines of everyone trying to make up their mind! Located in the rich heartland of Baylor Medical Center it is convenient to even those not a patient, employee or visitor guest. I especially love the plate lunch! It’s always something deceptively healthy like poached salmon. Extra points for the side dishes like spaghetti squash with a rich toothsome homemade marinara sauce accented with capers and olives. IDEAL people watching too!

Probably the best cafeteria food at BUMC. Fridays are the best because they have fish tacos! Nice piece of fried crispy fish with veggies and a delicious chipotle sauce!

Fish Tacos are great on Friday! Two for the great price of 6.99 w/rice as well. Very nice in and out walk through with other choices as well. Pizza looked great and plan to try it next time!

Café Charles is the main restaurant/café in the Baylor Sammons Cancer Center. The newly opened center operated by Texas Oncology, provides numerous comforts for cancer patients, family, and friends. The café is open Monday thru Friday during normal clinic hours. The café is located on the second floor of the main building, on the same level as the Bridge of hope that connects the building to the Baylor Cancer hospital directly across Worth Street. The café offers a made-from-scratch sandwich line for panini sandwiches, a vendor area for drinks, juices, chips and snacks, etc. There is also a full grill that prepares a daily menu item that is heart-healthy and delicious. The main grill serves breakfast until 10am, and then it closes to reopen for the lunch menu at 11am. The sandwich area and pre-packaged foods are always available while the café is open. Great fresh and healthy offerings at Café Charles. Enjoy! Note: Drink refils from the fountain are not free. A refill price is charged based on the size of your cup. The Sammons building offers valet service for $ 10; cars with handicapped plates or hang-tag valet park for free. An underground garage is available for self-parking at the back of the bulding.
