I wish this location would hurry and return because I miss calling in my to-go orders. Truth be told, my visits with Café Express started as coming in for quick breakfast meals, but I stopped when their food quality went down. For example, their fluffy French Toast turned into flat, crusty toast that was dry and not appetizing. But, once I started ordering their salads, I became a fan of them, so I would call my order it and pick them up on my way home. The salads are basic, but good and fairly priced. I’m not sure when they will return, but my takeout salad restaurant is surely missed!

Should I or should I not post? To note: *At this time the place is temporarily closed. The main part of this review was written while they were in full swing and open.(Due to my stupid writers block, but it is a shame not to note the great staff and fun condiment food bar that was there!) Quick look rating: 4⁄5 Food & Quality, 5⁄5 Service, 5⁄5 Experience **5/5**Looking forward to when they open back up! Clean place, fairly quick service, plenty of fun condiments to touch up your meal! I mean a large number of condiments! Love the option for sitting out on the patio with a fun little water fall. I used to come in and order one of the pasta dishes, but recently changed over to a healthier lifestyle plate that is just a better option for me. *I read somewhere that they were planning on opening back in Dec of 2017? What, that’s crazy! I miss the little place. It was a fun place to take out of town folks! **Ok, Café Express, I’ll make you a deal, re-open up sooner and I’ll come back for sure! Deal?

Awful! We went on a Sunday morning at 10am. The place was practically empty and it took almost 30 minutes for the food. They forgot part of the order and the food was cold.

Delicious French toast!!! I originally just wanted fruit and a Kirin but I decided to go for the French toast and I’m so glad I did!!! The atmosphere is so cozy and cute and it’s a great place to get brunch at

I ate here a few times because it is across the street from my office. I have tried it 3 times and all 3 times I was grossed out. The food is bland, or has a weird taste.

Love this place. It’s a great spot to get breakfast or lunch. They have a beautiful patio out front that overlooks McKinney ave. the inside is spaced well and has tons of windows so it’s always bright inside. They have a huge menu selection. If you’re looking to eat healthy they have a few items under 600 calories. If you have a gluten allergy they have plenty of salads and soups to choose from. Their southwest chili soup is my favorite. So many pieces of ground turkey chunks with a light spicy seasoning. Their turkey Cobb salad and grilled chicken salad are awesome. They’re big portions so you won’t go home hungry. Prices are reasonable here and the staff is very friendly. I definitely recommend stopping in here if looking for a casual place to grab breakfast or lunch.

Pretty darn average from top to bottom. The food is ok(and not as healthy as I would hope), the service is ok, the price ok, the setting, also just ok. Nothing terribly adventurous on the menu and I can’t remember why I started coming here in the first place. Basically the most basic restaurant in the neighborhood. Pro tip: the patio can be nice but guard your food against the birds. They are AGGRESSIVE.

Great concept, but sometimes the execution is lacking. On the plus side, the food is usually good. Pastas taste great if you’re up for all the calories. Burgers are good too. Definitely avoid the sandwiches — my Club Sandwich was all bread — a thin slice of cheese, 2 thin slices of turkey, no tomato for some reason and no mayo either. I would have taken it back, but I did take out. The restaurant seems to struggle keeping good people on — the lady that took my order couldn’t have been less friendly if she tried. It’s always really crowded at lunch. Not sure where all these people will go when they close this one down later in 2015.

Excellent food. We got the Mediterranean Salmon then topped it off with a warm chocolate cupcake. If we’re ever in the area again, we will definitely return.

The music is totally inappropriate for this place. It’s loud and obnoxious. The music should be relaxing and enjoyable not rude loud and not appropriate for this type of dining experience. Overall today this was annoying to eat here today. B

Food is pretty good and generally healthy depending on how you define that. I normally get SW Burger with sweet potato fries or the shrimp avocado salad. My only worry is potential hackers. I logged into the wifi with a pc and immediately had suspicious problems so I shut down my computer. Maybe I’m just paranoid but I’ve decided that this is not a safe place for a working lunch if wifi is needed.

I picked up a café croissant a little after 10 am and it was such a disappointment. It’s probably the worst scrambled eggs I’ve had in years. You could tell it had been sitting out for an extended period and they basically cut out a block of it and threw it on there. It was hard and stale around most of the edges. Not only that, but then for over $ 5 you don’t even get a full size croissant. At least the basil and sun dried tomato were good. Maybe I am spoiled, but at my old work building in downtown I’d get a grilled, made-to-order, fresh croissant sandwich with egg whites, spinach and tomatoes for the same price.

I love this place. Eat here all the time. Everyone is nice. Lot’s of regulars to meet. You serve yourself so you save on tips but get great food. I get the soup and salad combo a lot. BLT is great and consistent. Shrimp and avocado salad is delicious(get the dressing on the side so you can control the richness). They are open till 10 and this is the best kept secret for breakfast and lunch.

Came here today to get two of my favorite items. They have changed the menu and both if my items are gone. I understand you have to change but this change was a bad one for me. Really nothing on the new menu that we liked. Ended up leaving and going to a new place. Don’t know if we will be back. Only time will tell.

Café Express is that place that will always be there for you. Great food and excellent service. They also do a pretty good job on catering. I wish the desert menu had more options

It was busy at lunch this Wednesday but I was able to order quickly. I ordered the turkey club and substituted a spring salad for the fries($ 1.99 upcharge). They give you a cup of ice from behind the counter and at the drink station I got black current iced tea and picked up my silverware. I found a table and my food was soon ready(notified electronically by those bliinking red«coasters»). The turkey club was on wheat bread was great — stacked well w/meat and had cool lettuce and tomato. The spring salad I got was just okay, I probably should’ve ordered the caesar or a different salad. It wasn’t bad, just wasn’t what I expected(lots of those greens you don’t recognize). Staff was pleasant and it wasn’t too noisy. Food tasted great and I appreciated their sturdy styrofoam drink cups that don’t sweat. This is a great place for lunch and I’d suggust you give it a try. I understand that they even serve breakfast!

Came here for a quick lunch yesterday and they had such a huge selection of food! The place was pretty busy but they had alot of room for everyone. I got the mushroom swiss burger which was cooked exactly how I requested. They were generous with the mushrooms and the swiss. The burger could’ve had a lil more flavor though. The fries were pretty bland but nice and crisp. Overall, the food was pretty good but not exactly worth $ 10 for a quick lunch. I don’t mind coming back here but it’s not a place I would be craving to return to. P. S. I did love how they have limes and mint to add on your drinks so I added some with my water and made a virgin mojito-ish drink! :)

Consistently good and conveniently located to where I live. I enjoyed the petite sandwich combo with a turkey pressed sandwich, caesar salad and chicken with orzo soup. The portion is quite big and the price is very reasonable for as much food as you receive. The staff is always nice, the restaurant is clean and big enough to find somewhere to sit even when it is really busy.
